  1. The closing date for applications should be within a couple of days of the conclusion of the DII national tournament.
  2. Yote53... Congratulations on getting a good coach. I know I will get some negative reps for this, but Nielson is a very good coach. 2 national championships in 3 years and turning WIU into a winning team proves that. There must be a reason or reasons that he wanted out of Macomb, whether it's an impending downgrade of their program or a personal disagreement with administration, he obviously wanted to leave WIU. Realizing there are a lot of upset people on this board who take WIU's selection to the playoffs over UND personally, I believe there were a couple other teams that should have also been left home before UND, but the NCAA has a vendetta against the former Sioux and Idaho State's AD has personal issues with UND, preventing UND from getting the votes to receive the recognition they deserve. Instead, New Hampshire and Eastern Illinois got support and UND was left out. A (hopefully) final F U to UND from the NCAA. Anyway, back to Nielson, USD got a good coach who will give the Coyotes a decent chance to be competitive in the MVFC over the next few seasons. Hope he is as good a fit for you as Coach Schweigert is for UND. And yes, it certainly appears Coach Glenn did take over a mess and has cleaned up the discipline of the program and left it in good shape for Nielson. (For those who forgot Meierkort's legacy, think back to the locker room destruction at the Alerus following the final game in the Great West)
  3. ^^^^^ this ^^^^^ kinda puts this argument into the correct perspective.
  4. I thought I saw something else across the feathers on the neck... All the the more reason to really like this logo.
  5. Maybe the ncaa is trying to force the split of the Big Sky into FBS and FCS leagues. Only 3 of 13 teams from the #2 rated FCS conference. Idaho State would likely not be one of the move-ups. A little jealousy on the ISU AD's part in not supporting his conference more? Sioux Volley, you got anything?
  6. Lockheed Martin A-4AR Fightinghawk Lockheed Martin is an American company.
  7. Isn't this the kind of thread that comes after the season is over? there could be a lot of season left for this team.
  8. That's just F'Hawking hilarious.
  9. Well, at least it's not Banana Slugs, Sundogs or Nodaks.
  10. and not even the first in North Dakota. oh F'Hawk
  11. If this had been circulated like the Blackhawks logo, Roughriders might have had a chance against being the 43rd Hawks.
  12. How long has it been since Montana, Montana State and Eastern Washington were all out of the playoffs? Maybe the sun comes up in the west that morning.
  13. If only the results here are/were reflective of a shift in the actual vote. 85% - 15% after 24 hours...
  14. So that's the background for the Wolves nickname! takes me back to simpler times...
  15. Great sweep over Idaho tonight!
  16. out of curiosity, I ran the numbers of both votes against the finalists... in the first vote, out of the votes cast for the 3 semi-finalists, the percentages were within a couple points of where they ended up in the runoff vote: 43% Fighting Hawks 29% Roughriders 28% Nodaks. Then if you cut that to only the voters who voted for either Hawks or Roughriders, it comes to to: 60% Fighting Hawks 40% Roughriders. If you consider only the votes cast for the two finalists during the runoff, it came out to: 62% Fighting Hawks 38% Roughriders. Even though there were thousands more voters, the percentages stayed relatively consistent. so, my conclusion is that there will have to be a monumental shift of voters OR a huge influx of new voters to defeat Fighting Hawks. Oh F'Hawk.
  17. 145 votes this time vs 241. Approx 60% of the original exit poll. Will the actual vote also see the same decline? Which nickname will suffer from the largest drop off? Which one will benefit? Since the vote closes at noon, will the results be made public by close of business today?
  18. tnt has a valid point. Roughriders has been my first choice through this whole process. I don't think I'm the only one. Unlike Nodak supporters who were Fighting Sioux (despite potential sanctions) forever, than only North Dakota, and now Nodak. And on top of that, many Nodak supporters want it only temporarily, so that yet another name can be selected. That sounds like a great plan, let's let this hang over UND's head for another 10 years.
  19. there might be a reason for that... see thread title.
  20. Hope everyone that voted for Roughriders returns and votes again. Voter fatigue will take a toll on turnout, as will apathy as many favorites have been eliminated already. Expect that the students will again vote for Fighting Hawks, despite efforts to educate them about the lack of originality and the logo passed around last month net being the real replacement logo. Still cannot wrap my head around the Nodaks moniker. Just feels wrong. I think Petey is misguided, and this nickname will be with UND for a long time, so please think about that when you cast your vote. While Nodaks may be a shortened version of remaining North Dakota, it doesn't sound right as a permanent nickname for the flagship school of the state. As has been posted before, it's ok for a North Dakota based insurance company (who by the way sponsors Bison broadcasts, while Farmer's Union Insurance sponsors UND, iirc), an electric co-op or a retail hardware store, it just doesn't fit for the permanent nickname of UND. Generic bird nicknames don't reflect strongly for a flagship school, either, so might have a tough time if there is yet another round, and may become another victim of voter fatigue if Rouhriders is eliminated this round.
  21. Kelly will have retired by the time a new logo is commissioned. On the other hand, pretty sure Faison will still be at UND.
