The Idaho prez contracted with a consultant to report on the pros and cons of Indy vs FCS. The recent nickname fiasco gives an insight into what that consultant will more than likely report. It appears that the UI administration wants to join the Big Sky in football too, but there is a significant alumni push to stay Independent for a couple years after the 2017 season. The consultant will more than likely endorse what Spear wants to do. SiouxVolley has a much better finger on the pulse of this. To answer your question, it looks like May 4 is a soft target to be able to plan the 2018 conference schedule, but Idaho will be accommodated if they need more time. Again, SV probably can give you a better answer.

After thinking about this for the past couple of weeks, a light has lit... If the B1G offers UND while Faison is the AD, he will fight it with all the power he has. He was arguably the instigator of the conference forming in the first place, so UND will not leave the NCHC without a huge fight from Faison. The NCHC is his legacy, more than anything else he has done in his entire career.

Now that Cleveland has picked up RG III, will Wentz go to a team that may be a better fit for him long term? I would think a year or two backing up Tony Romo would be better for Wentz than being relegated to the dog pound of Browns futility.

Hypothetical question... if UND were offered and accepted a hockey affiliation in the B1G, would that cause the athletic department to start looking at trying to join the Summit and MVFC? Since the B1G schools are east, would that move the focus of conference affiliations for all sports east? I do not think it would have an impact on Big Sky membership for other sports, but I don't know s--t from shine-ola when it comes to the inner workings of the AD.

As one who wanted UND to adopt Roughriders from the start, it is still THE University of North Dakota, and if Fighting Hawks is the name, whether it was something I liked or not, just doesn't matter. Fighting Hawks is the name that was chosen. Would rather just go by Hawks than the clumsy sounding Fighting Hawks, but it still doesn't matter. The teams on the field, court, ice, diamond, course, whatever, ... still represent THE University of North Dakota. And as I said above, at least it's not Sundogs.

Any news or rumors out of Reno about the direction Idaho will go with their football team?

Is it enough to get to the semifinals and lose? The Big Sky is not a good BB conference, so UND under Jones seems to be able to do that against the generally 'average' middle of the pack and lower Sky teams. On the other hand Weber and Montana are "above average" and Jones cannot seem to solve that riddle. imho UND will never get to The Dance under Jones. Is that the level that satisfies UND in DI? Can he come up with and implement schemes that win important games?

Wait... You mean to tell me that season tickets for UND football are $75?!!!! So if 4000 people who would never be able to show up at the Alerus paid $25 for season tickets to non-existent end zone seats, that would satisfy this ridiculous rule?

Or how about 4000 standing room tickets at the Alerus for $3 (1/3 price would be $1) each for the balconies, end zones and other miscellaneous areas? disclaimer - I live in Arizona and have never been to the Alerus so have no personal concept of what I am suggesting.
