  1. Well, for my money, St. Cloud State and NDSU have much uglier campuses than UMTC. And MSU-Mankato is one of the prettiest I have seen.
  2. Well, it has gotten hard to find good things to say about Mussman. He is a good coordinator, but just doesn't seem to have a grasp on the head coaching position.
  3. Yes, I am done arguing with the tone-deaf. Now, what are the odds that Faison pushes the button on Mussman? I say 50/50.
  4. What I wrote was the truth, truth that some of our fans don't want to hear, see or read. If you look at the past 10-15 years and connect all the dots, it makes sense. Some people did understand the point I was trying to make, even if they didn't agree with all of what I wrote. I guess you didn't.
  5. The guy that stole the truck is getting charged and will probably get convicted (unless the DA screws it up). The guy that chased him down took the law into his own hands and that cannot be tolerated or, even worse, rewarded. As for "criminals having more rights than the rest of us", we cannot abandon the principle of "innocent until proven guilty". If we hadn't followed that principle in the Travis Stay murder case, Stay would be in prison for life right now. There are reasons law enforcement tell us not to apprehend suspects on our own; one of them is that vigilante justice is not acceptable in our society. This isn't the world of NBC's "Revolution".
  6. If butt-kissing and universal deference to authority is "being professional", I prefer to not be a professional. And if you think everyone that wears a suit and tie is a "professional adult", then you really are living in fantasy land. My experience at UND is that the students are much more grown-up than the grown-ups in Twamley Hall. Man, you really read what you want into people's comments, don't you? And I find it really funny that you talk about "professionalism" and "decorum" and in the next breath you insult me with "Or do I confuse you with the big words?". Real consistent, Mr. Professional. I don't care what opinion you post on here, I just get tired of the "Father Knows Best" attitude you display on here. That, my friend, is unprofessional. I just don't see the group think you are seeing. There are people on both sides of the "Fire Muss" debate posting on here and I think the tone has been very polite compared to some other forums I have seen and heard about. Unless you think people that think we need a change at the top of the FB program are being "unprofessional".
  7. As a life-long wise-arse like myself, I thought it was solid.
  8. Once again, you both are being (as Sid Hartman would say) "selective listeners". jdub27, you are right, I want to hear all opinions whether I like them or not. And 82SiouxGuy, I never said anything about harassing coaches at home. I just get sick and tired of you implying to people that they are out of line for venting their frustrations and/or expressing their opinions whether or not the FB (or any other of our programs) are headed in the right direction. You just seem to be advocating for a litmus test for messages that people post on here. If you think Mussman should get another year to turn this shell of a program around, that is fine. I don't agree with it, but I don't have a problem with you posting it. What I have a problem with is you telling other people to basically stop posting their opinions because they aren't "nice". And as for "group think", you are the one that parrots whatever the establishment says about anything (hockey shuttles, FB scheduling, TV coverage, etc.), and then criticizes people like myself who have the audacity and the unmitigated gall to question the answers we are given when they smell fishy. Like I have said before, I couldn't care less if people don't like what I post, just don't tell me that it's out of line to post my opinions and vent whenever I need to. This is a discussion forum, not the Harvard Debate Club.
  9. And the "Conscience of SS.com" has spoken once more. I thought we were finished with that crap when PCM picked up his toys and went home. Guess I was wrong.
  10. In a league like the NCHC, splitting at home is unacceptable (Copyright 2013 Goon, ALL Rights Reserved). Did we get a stick salute before Christmas last year? I am thinking we didn't, but someone can correct me if I am wrong about that. If that happens this year, we'll be fighting for home ice in this league. We have to win our home games and split on the road or we'll be looking up at a lot of teams.
  11. Are there any FU trolls that want to defend this garbage?
  12. I logged into Facebook and checked it out. It's there. Thank you UND and REA for restoring this very important service.
  13. I smell a political thread drift in the air. I guess I have some trouble feeling sorry for Altru. They use their market monopoly to shut out any competition and now this happens to them. This is karma working its magic.
  14. How did you make the leap from what I said to what you said? I for one think that it is only fair if everyone that benefits from the addition of a parking ramp contributes something for its construction. We wouldn't want to reward "lazy moochers", would we?
  15. I was using exaggeration as a tool to make a point. A little over the top? Yeah, but sometimes that is what works best to drive a point home. You are missing the point. It doesn't matter if that ramp is "dedicated" to the X; the point is that it's available for events such as the WCHA Final Five (in its pre-cannibalized form). In all the years I went to the Final Five at the X, I would get there 30 minutes before game time and I could get an open spot in the ramp. Sure, it was a long walk up to street level, but it was right across the street from the arena. This could have been dealt with when REA was built because in 2001 there was still a lot of green space around the arena. But we can't go back in time, so we have to deal with this situation as it is now. Whoa, we went from shuttles for home hockey games to the idea of becoming "Texas or Ohio State". Talk about thread drift. I agree with you on the fact that "you don't get everything overnight". I care much more about the long-term than the short-term. But little things like this add up over time. Being penny-wise and pound-foolish about providing a minor convenience for the best fans in the country (my opinion and I am sticking to it) that will generate goodwill and a positive profile for the institution as a whole is not a step in the right direction. My concern is that we will use this same approach to other things and develop a reputation for being cheap. I do like Brian Faison, but I have some serious reservations about President Kelley's viewpoint on what he thinks athletics contributes to the institution as a whole. I think our athletic department could become the greatest marketing tool in our toolbox, but if the President is not on board with that vision, it won't matter what we or Faison or the coaches think. And those are the reasons for my rantings and ravings, a concern for the future of UND. Just my 2 cents.
  16. I think the past 12 years have proven that people will fork over $20 to $25/night for concession items and not think twice about it. Will they even notice that $1 has been added to the prices? I would not mind contributing to parking improvements at REA and I think everyone that has a stake in this should contribute something. Shared responsibility builds gratitude.
  17. People can disagree all they want with what I post. I honestly quit caring about that a long time ago. What I have a problem with are certain individuals who are determined to establish litmus tests as to what is and is not appropriate to discuss on a discussion forum. If these individuals don't have a desire to discuss this or any other issue people bring up, then they shouldn't post on here while they complain about people posting on here! You see the paradox at work here? Basically, I just call out BS when I see it and/or smell it. And that is what drives certain people on here crazy. As for me being "harsh", I don't call people names, I don't threaten people and I do acknowledge those that make a good point about something. And I also have said many times that I will gladly come on here and admit I am wrong if one of my predictions or opinions is proven false. Just sayin'
  18. Says every Qwest customer service rep I have ever dealt with.
  19. This is one issue we are 100% on the same side on. Great post.
  20. Then maybe Mussman recruited the wrong kind of kids to play here. It isn't all about athleticism.
  21. I don't know what is happening at SIU. All I know is that Lennon did not put up with any nonsense when he was in charge at UND and it worked out pretty well for us.
  22. If this is what Faison is going to do, we might as well join the Pioneer Football League.
  23. Then why do head coaches get paid so much? Maybe you think that is how it should work, but that is not how human beings are wired. A team takes on the personality of the head coach. Mussman apparently does not have the respect of the locker room and once you lose that, you have lost your team and nothing you say will change anything. The players respected Lennon, they respected Thomas. I know Dean Blais was respected by his players because he had standards and expectations that he expected the players to live up to. Same with Gene Roebuck. Same with Brian Idalski. Based on all the personal foul penalties, sloppy play, sideline antics when we are down 40 points at home, it is obvious Mussman has lost the team and I don't think he can get it back. I do not doubt that Mussman could succeed someplace else as a coordinator, but I don't think he is head coaching material.
