  1. And you just proved the point I was trying to make. Thank you.
  2. I don't believe I said any of those things, don't put words in my mouth, even though it's one of the few things you are really good at. All I said was that Notre Dame is not a marquee program in Men's BB and that is the plain and simple truth. I will give you credit for the FBS wins and the FCS national titles (despite the obnoxious nature of your fan base), but I am not going to buy the notion that beating Notre Dame in Men's BB is some sort of huge milestone in your program's D-I existence. Beat a team like Kansas and then I'll give you all the props you want.
  3. They have the occasional head-turning team (2011), but more often than not, they aren't anything special. FB comes first, second and third at Notre Dame, with everything else way behind. If you want to call it a signature win because of Notre Dame's nationally prominent brand, that's fine. But it's not nearly as impressive as beating Wisconsin or Marquette.
  4. My point is that they are not a consistent basketball power year in and year out like Duke, North Carolina, etc. I don't think they are even ranked right now. When you think Notre Dame, you think FB, you don't think Men's BB. As for making the NCAA tournament 31 times, that doesn't necessarily speak to greatness, considering how many spots are available. NDSU beating Wisconsin in Men's BB was a much bigger accomplishment than beating Notre Dame in Men's BB.
  5. The basketball version of the "Brad Schlossman Rule"?
  6. I agree with you on BG, but don't pump up beating Notre Dame in Men's BB as any kind of "signature" win for NDSU. Notre Dame sucks in Men's BB; I don't think they have ever done anything special in that sport. If they beat Notre Dame in Women's BB, that would be a big deal, as the Irish women's team is pretty good. And if they ever beat them in FB, well.......we would never hear the end of that. Like others on here, I am now not as excited about the Men's BB team as I was. Looks like the same tired old broken record.
  7. Whatever happens, we cannot afford any screw-ups with this hire. With FU losing their head coach, this is the perfect time to turn the tables on them and get a home run hire to bring this program back to what it once was. If we screw this up, we'll be paying for it for years to come.
  8. Don't you guys have a BCS Bowl Game to prepare for? Oh wait, you really aren't big-time, are you? Otherwise, Bohl wouldn't be leaving town.
  9. Apples and oranges. The "business-like" approach I was talking about before was related to the systems and schemes used in games, which I think has the effect of stifling the creativity of some of our most skilled players. This particular topic is about off-the-ice behavior and how much this has been an issue during the past 2-3 years. I honestly think if Hakstol invoked the "Frattin Rule" and gave more repeat offenders the boot, it would drive home the point to both players and recruits that it doesn't pay to mess around and cause trouble when the coaches are not there.
  10. It isn't that bad yet. Emphasis on yet. I don't want to get to that point.
  11. And the HPA (Hakstol Protection Agency) is out in force once again. With all the incidences of stupidity that have occurred within this program over the past 2-3 years, it is more than fair to ask the question gfhockey is asking. And no, that is not the same as a "Fire Hak" campaign. Maybe if Hakstol gave more repeat offenders the boot, it would send the message that crime doesn't pay around here.
  12. You have committed the Cardinal Sin of questioning Hakstol's leadership of the program. I think it is fair to ask if Hakstol has control over his players; there have been a lot of incidences of stupidity the past couple of years.
  13. This type of defeatist thinking has to stop. FU can only hire one coach to run their program; we'll have plenty of people left to choose from. If we want to catch and overtake FU in football, we must think and behave like the championship program we want to become. It all starts between our ears.
  14. Even so, putting a story on their web sites from a source that turns out to be false would damage their integrity, no matter how much CYA language they put in. And CBS Sports likely wouldn't risk doing what they are doing if they weren't 100% sure. I imagine that whomever the "source" is wants to remain anonymous because they aren't authorized to leak the info before Sunday's official announcement. That is how a lot of breaking news stories happen, both in sports and elsewhere.
  15. I don't think the Forum or KFGO would run with this if they weren't sure it was true. Imagine how much egg they would have on their faces if it turns out to be a hoax. CBS isn't "The Onion".
  16. http://kfgo.com/news/articles/2013/dec/08/report-wyoming-to-announce-craig-bohl-as-new-head-coach/ And now KFGO has it on their web site. Three media sources; I think it's legit.
  17. In name only. Remember what happened to Joe Glenn? That might happen to Bohl too.
  18. I wonder if Scott Miller will say "My oh my" when he finds out!!!
  19. Wyoming will announce North Dakota State's Craig Bohl Sunday as its new head coach, a source told CBS Sports. http://www.cbssports...-new-head-coach Looks like it is for real.
  20. I'll settle for solid, consistent performances like this weekend. We absolutely must have one of these guys step up in goal. It looks like Gothberg might be doing that.
  21. Well, I hope all that money keeps Bohl warm because he'll be freezing his butt off AND losing at a pace he is not used to. Wyoming chews up and spits out coaches. I honestly wouldn't have taken that job, but I guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens.
  22. I figured this news deserves the double face-palm. This is just what we don't need right now.
  23. I know when I am being referenced. Hot goalies do exist from time to time. What I don't like is the tendency of some people to use it as an all-purpose excuse for lack of offensive production. We have had games where most of our shots were from the outside without screens set up in front, which largely led to us losing the game. Instead of pointing out scoring opportunities vs. SOG, some people immediately started using the "hot goalie" excuse to explain it away. I will give Hakstol credit; I have never heard him use it to explain a loss or a bad offensive game by his team.
  24. And if that is what it takes to get this program turned around in the long-term, I am more than willing to accept that possibility.
  25. These two coaches are way better than most of the people that have applied up to this point.
