  1. If she doesn't want to donate anymore, that is her choice. Of course, once you play that card, you cannot play it again. Unless that rumor of REA being torn down is actually true........ If UND is getting screwed financially by REA, Inc., then Kennedy is right to point it out and ask for some changes. People who give money to an institution should do so because they believe in it and want it to succeed.....NOT because they think it will make them de-facto President.
  2. No, RALPH ENGELSTAD is our most prominent donor. But since he's dead, MISS McGarry is representing the foundation he made possible. And she is proving to be more difficult to deal with. Especially since she felt it necessary to point out that her dad was a UND alum, but no one else in the family is. The implication being she doesn't really care about our institution like her dad did. That doesn't sit well with me and others who love this place like a second home.
  3. Some say in how the money is used? Sure. Wanting a constructive relationship with the institution you are donating to ? Absolutely. Running to the media whenever someone dares (DARES, I tell you) to question something in the current contract and DARES to suggest making it better for the institution that someone is paid to lead and look out for? Hell to the No! MISS McGarry is acting like a spoiled, entitled brat who inherited everything from her father. Ralph Engelstad didn't make a fortune in business by treating people like peons and threatening them in the media and/or in person. He built REA to make UND "the Notre Dame of college hockey". He didn't build it so that him and his family could run UND from Vegas. His daughter seems to have forgotten that. And that is sad.
  4. So MISS McGarry gets to run UND from Vegas? Sorry, no dice. Kennedy doesn't work for MISS McGarry. He works for the State Board of Higher Education and, indirectly, for us.
  5. Misogyny? I am talking about her approach and attitude towards UND. Which I don't like. And which I don't think makes her look good.
  6. This is a key point. I would have loved to be a fly on the wall in those meetings. Who knows what context those comments were made in? Someone is not telling the whole truth here.
  7. I imagine T Boone Pickens doesn't take a huge cut of the revenues from his gifts. He gives because he wants Oklahoma State to be successful. That attitude seems to be missing in Vegas right now.
  8. So that means they run the university? That means they can continue taking more and more of the financial pie? If the princess wants Kennedy's job, she should get it for about a month and she'll learn how hard it is. We can't demand a strong UND President that "gets it" and then demand he genuflect to every rich donor that runs to the Heraldo whining and crying because he had the unmitigated gall to question that donor about something. #makeupyourmind
  9. REA was built to benefit and serve UND. UND does not exist to benefit and serve REA. I don't think the princess understands that. And since the princess went out of her way to point out that Ralph graduated from UND, but that no one else in the family did, I think it is more than fair to question her loyalty and commitment to this fine institution that we all care about. Kennedy is looking out for UND. Good for him. And the princess should think long and hard about why her dad built this arena. It wasn't to make UND all about him. #getoveryourself
  10. This is a message board. Once you stick your nose into a conversation, you are asking for a response. Especially when someone is trolling for a reaction.
  11. Berry did a masterful job with that team. Pushed all the right buttons all year and especially in the playoffs. Hak had teams full of NHL-caliber recruits that could not get the job done. Berry had the same assets and got the team over the hump. The recruiting does need to stay at a high level and that is a legitimate concern. But to discount what Berry did in helping us win #8 is asinine and short-sighted.
  12. Very true. Shot location is just as important. You can shoot from the outside all you want, but 99% of the time, those shots will vanish into the goalie's glove or chest. Sound familiar?
  13. There is a reason Fletcher is on the unemployment line. And this is one example of that.
  14. What? Positivity on the FB forum? Perish the thought!
  15. All the series are scheduled as if they are all going to go seven games. That is why when you have a 4-0 sweep, you have some dead nights.
  16. What if the Alerus Center isn't available enough to have home games there consistently? We will have to book it well in advance.
  17. UND should consider doing the same with softball for the same reasons.
  18. Kind of like the GOBC?
  19. This sentence makes UND sound like a freaking mid-major program. I can accept being a mid-major in basketball, but I will never accept being a mid-major in hockey. Ever.
  20. This was the first time ever that a team won every game in the NCAA tournament by one goal. So I don't think we can count on doing it that way. Scoring goals makes it much easier to win. #nobrainerlogic
  21. He was thinking of Boston College.
  22. Well, they are starting to jump off Duluth's ship too.
  23. Four departures for Denver; not too bad.
