Real-life example or it never happened.

Big off-season losses. We can relate to that, right?

I heard that bees abandoned their hives in late September or early October. That seems a little early for them to do that. I think this might be a harsh winter.

2019 - 20 Women’s BB Season

It's all about keeping more of the gate! Didn't you get the memo? (sarcasm) #pennywisepoundfoolish -
I second that.
-
Sort of? It's high schoolish weak.
-
You are missing the point entirely. I was taking shots at the hockey-only crowd who thinks helping other UND programs be successful will somehow "hurt" hockey. That was the point of the post.
-
I think the more they are immersed in the system, the better they will get at it.
-
So Penn State fans have embraced Division I hockey? According to some of the one-sport only zealots on this forum, that will "hurt" the Nittany Lion's historically successful FB program. Opps, it looks like Penn State FB is doing just fine and dandy. Two successful programs on one campus? I thought that was impossible! (extreme sarcasm)

MTU @ UND -- U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame Game
fightingsioux4life replied to stoneySIOUX's topic in Men's Hockey
This has to be a win. I don't care if they have Patrick Roy in goal. -
Yeah, the weather is going to make it very difficult for that soon.
-
That wouldn't take much, would it?
-
That is the last thing we need, a President who thinks downsizing and/or ignoring athletics is a good idea.
-
Based on the "new economic reality", the Forum should be cutting days as well. They are not. The long-term end game is to dissolve the Herald and force the Fargo Forum on everyone in the Red River Valley. I will NEVER subscribe to that paper. The last thing I want is to have Jeff Kolpack's ugly mug in my face when I am trying to enjoy breakfast in the morning.
-
The question is, can they make a habit out of it?

We put up 4 last night, so I think your comment is a little premature.
-
And God only knows how many years after that. Because around here, all that matters are "relationships" and "teaching life lessons".
-
Well, this is turning out to be another bad day for UND athletics.
-
But according to @jdub27, this is completely unacceptable behavior by us fans and needs to stop. Seriously though, I agree with you. The funding model worked in Division II, but it does not work at Division I. We should never have moved up without a solid financial plan to fund what is necessary to be competitive and successful. But we did move up, so our only choice is to be successful. Failure is not an option.

Love the comment in bold! I sometimes catch myself doing that. I don't expect The Forum to cover Grand Forks more. I DO expect that if they buy the Heraldo, they won't strip it bare of content and then shut it down because people aren't buying it and/or reading it online. It just seems like that is the endgame here and it makes me sick. Either stop stripping it bare or sell it someone else. Honestly, if I want quality print news, I have to pick up a Star Tribune, lots of good news from all over the world in there.
-
I am a paid subscriber to the print edition. Have been for years. So save the "put your money where your mouth is" comments. And my original point stands: Why did they purchase a newspaper in a town they have zero interest in covering? Seems like a waste of money. Unless they are just trying to eliminate the other major newspaper in the valley so they can force the Forum on everybody. They think they are the New York Times or the Minneapolis Star-Tribune, but they aren't.

From a business standpoint, it makes sense? Why does it make sense to buy the Heraldo, then run it into the ground, thus causing people to stop buying and reading it? Unless their ultimate goal was to run it into the ground, thus giving them an excuse to shut it down and dissolve it and call it a "business decision". If they don't care about Grand Forks, then sell the Heraldo to someone who does. Maybe a bunch of us can pool our resources and buy it from them. We could run it like the Green Bay Packers (ugh, I just threw up in my mouth typing that!).

Or maybe the GOBC can pony up the cash to buy out Bubba? #putuporshutup
