I must concur with this. However, we don't want the program to deteriorate to the point where it needs a total rebuilding. If we don't start turning it around the next two seasons, it might be time for a change at the very top.

Different situations. Hak's teams would choke on the big stage. The past two years, we never got close to the big stage. Either way, the ultimate goal is not being reached. I can accept a few bad years sprinkled among the good years. But the trend pointing downward is what I am most worried about.

Nobody is comparing college hockey to the bigger problems in life. But to say we should all feel positive about an almost universally bad season on the ice is a big much to ask.
-
Yeah, this is no different than high school sports ("all about teaching life lessons" and "all about the relationships"). (sarcasm) This mentality has infected all of our programs. And as long as it is in place, we will win nothing of significance ever again. #hadenoughyet?

Wasn't the BESC built when we were still D-2? And wasn't that before serious discussions about moving up to D-I had started? -

The choice of words could have been better. But the feeling of frustration is appropriate and understandable. -

I don't think he is "quitting". He is expressing frustration at the current state of UND athletics, which is not good. -

But some people on this forum and elsewhere act like everything is just fine as is. Well, it isn't "just fine as is". Bill Chaves, you have your work cut out for you. I hope you are up to the challenge. -

If a team isn't from "the metro" or one of those snooty private schools, they aren't worth jack squat. That is the attitude of the Twin Cities media, has been for years. That's why it's great when EGF, Warroad and Roseau win big in March and shut them up. -

I think he is just pining for a return of the one-class format. Which is fine, but don't disparage Class A. Implying that players like T.J. Oshie and Brock Nelson can't skate, catch a pass or shoot is just plain stupid (both aforementioned players starred at Class A Warroad). -
The Senior's Home Ice Swan Song. Regardless of what happens in Oxford, OH, let's finish up strong and get a sweep, along with a CISS (Center Ice Stick Salute).... or TCoS (Traditional Circle of Sticks) if you are Dan Hammer.

2001? I think you mean 2002. In 2001, we lost the title game in OT to St. Cloud when they tackled our goaltender and got away with it (yes, I am still sore about it). But yes, definitely a bummer all around.- 68 replies

People who visit Grand Forks benefit from the services provided there when they visit. Police and Fire protection, clean and safe water, roads and bridges and so on. This "friends and neighbors shouldn't have to pay for anything" bullcrap needs to stop. If you shop in Fargo, you are helping pay for their flood protection project, among other things. The Feds and State aren't providing the funds they used to for roads and bridges, so that is why local governments are pitching in more. Sales taxes are all over the place and they are not going anywhere, so please get over it. PS: Shopping online will increasingly have sales taxes applied to it, no relief there either.

This isn't a "private family matter" subject to FERPA regulations. Whether or not a player is in the line-up is fair game for public discussion.

When did that football revenue seizure start? I know it didn't start in 2001.

The arena was built to benefit UND as a whole. I would argue that isn't happening right now. The spirit of the contract is not being carried out. That is what I am getting at. And if KEM feels that it is a burden having to deal with REA and UND at all, perhaps we can negotiate an exit for her?
-
Don't get me wrong, I am not a big Kennedy fan on most things and I think the sooner he takes another job, the better. But UND has been getting screwed on the REA contract since it opened and that represents a violation of the original charter, which is a legal issue.

If this team suddenly starts stringing together some wins and qualifies for the NCAA tournament, it will be a shock to everyone here not wearing green-colored glasses.

This season was ruined when they got swept by something called Canisius back in January. At least I won't have to worry about a third and deciding game in the first round interfering with the NCAA Selection Show. #silverlining
