28 yards rushing?!! Need to be better. No reason we shouldn’t be able to establish a running game with the backs we have.
-
Game will be close, but the Hawks will put it out of reach late. 34-24 Hawks

65K, that's all it taks? Let's get'r done!!

If the other Dakota schools can have multiple helmets without having a fundraising campaign, UND shouldn't need to either. Question is, why can they do it and not UND?
-
I made a mockup in the nickname thread awhile back. Was able to find it. So, something like this (maybe a slighly bigger hawk like you said)?!
-
A gray helmet with a green Hawks logo on the side along with a stripe on the top that matches the stripe on the pants would be awesome!! Could also use on the road with the white jerseys.

Looking at some of other "Dakota School" friends, I notice that they have secondary helmet options. SDSU is haveing a new one this week. Other Valley schools as well. Would be nice to see UND with a secondary helmet. I can't find the pic, but UND used to have a silver helmet with a stripe down the middle with a green ND on it. Something like that that is like a throwback to a past helmet would be great.

For lack of a better place to put this, looks like our friends in Duluth are having their own mascot contraversy. PErsonally, the newer mascot proposed looks more like their logo (much like ours). But leave it to the vocal monirity in social media to control the narrative! https://www.grandforksherald.com/sports/college/university-of-minnesota-duluth-sends-yellow-champ-mascot-back-to-doghouse https://news.d.umn.edu/articles/champfall2022

At the Nebraska game I was surprised to see pretty much every UND fan there wearing Fighting HAwks clothing. Really surprised me because according to some people that have commented on this thread, No one is buying it!!

UNI gave up 582 yards rushing yesterday. Sure it was against Air Force. But still. We should ba able to run the ball next week.

"Nodak" is not our Nickname. It ws voted on and finished 3rd. The fact that the REA and the hockey program is embracing it and making jersyes with it pretty pathetic. It's not like it is like a secondary nickname the UND atheltics has been know as for decades. It is a blatent rejection of the Fighting Hawks name. Go back 20 years and think if the football team and the Alerus Center decided that they didn';t want toassociate the team with the Sioux name. Say mthey wanted to be known as Nodaks or jsut no nickname. The overwhelming majority of the fanbase would be in an uproar. They would be making the same arguments I am making today. The point I have always made is love it, hate it, or somewhere in the mddle...Fighting Hawks is UND's nickname and the logo is what it is (for now). You can choose to reject it. That is your choice. But when fans, teams, and venues reject that as well, it only hurts the University and its effort to move on from the old name and logo.

So looking at the picured of the new Memorial Village, it shows the football field with just lines for football. Looking back on an article from 2021, there are soccer field lines on the field. I wonder if they decided against it since 2021. In my opinion, playing at Memorial Field seems like a much better place than playing in front of the REA. Unless they asked the soccfer coaches and they said they would rather play on grass.

I see your point, but that is the reason why UND spend thousands of dollard in rebranding and coming up with a new logo. When UNd got the new Brien logo in 2001, you saws that logo everywhere. Didn't take long for everyone else to figure out that the new Sioux head logo was the University of North Dakota. So the University has gone thru rebranding before. Now I get the hesitancy by the REA to plaster the new logo over where all the Sioux heads were. I am not wanting them to do that. I am all for honoring the legacy of the fighting Sioux name. But I am also for honoring the current legacy of the new name. The REA needs to get on board with the rebranding efforts of UND and do a better job promoting the new logo. Promoting the "North Dakota" script "logo" isn't helping with tha effort. Like I said, I don't expect to see the Fighting Hawks logo displayed a predominiently in the REA like the Sioux logo was. But I don't think it's too much to expect the logo to be at the very least at center ice. The overwhelming majority of college rinks have their logo at center ice. The logo has been around for 6 years now. People have gotten used to seeing it around. Even your most die hard "Sioux Forever" fan at the very least realizes that the Fighting Hawks logo is here to stay. The REA should n't be offended by displaying the official logo of UND athletics and a UND athletic event. Not asking for the world. Just a simple gesture that would show that the REA and UND are working together to promote the new logo, which is what UND has been trying to do for 6 years. The REA putting the logo at center ice would go along way in achieving that.

Been awhile since I have been to a road football game other than NDSU. This may be the most fans we have had a road football game probably since the 2003 National Championship in Florence. Always fun to be on the road. Everyone wearing green this weekend is automatically your best friend and will gladly have a beer or two with you!! Can't wait for this weekend!!
