  1. Judging by the fact that there is literally ZERO talk about the process of choosing a new nickname with 2015 looming, I am guessing that UND is fairly confident that the NCAA is not going to get in their business to much when we don't have a nickname in 9 months. With talk shakeup in FBS football on the horizon and the recent actions at Northwestern, they have bigger fish to fry,
  2. We will have to wait and see. It's going to be very interesting how sales do of the new name and logo. Obviously it is going to be hard to get used to seeing "North Dakota" next to a different name other than Sioux at first. Fans may be hesitant at first. The selection of the name and logo are going to be vital in the popularity of it and that directly will affect merchandise sales. If they choose something that is boring and overused (Wildcats, Bulldogs, etc) it will will not create a lot of buzz because tis been done. I am hoping they can find a name that is unique and fits our state and University well. I know that true fans of The University of North Dakota athletics will support the new name. Just hope it's something I will be proud to wear on my chest and yell out at games!!
  3. A Gopher fan talking smack about another teams basketball and football team? Really??!!!
  4. Oh snap, it's happening again!! Go Bobby Morris!!!!!
  5. SO come on out tailgaiting from 10am-3pm. Grill some brats, drink a cold one, and throw the football around with your kids and firsnds. Can't think of a better way to sepdn a day outside!!
  6. I have always like games that start at 3pm. Tailgating always seems to be better for those games since it is not so early in the morning. Students have sobbered up enough from the night before and will be less likely to leave at the half to head to the bars. Late games are great, except if you have littel kids and have to get them home to bed by halftime. I am cool with the 1pm games as well. Just as long as they don't do night games. Especially late in the season. Glad to see that they finally got rid of the Thursday game!!
  7. Dumb arcticle. Timing of it make the Herald look like they are compensating for NDSU outperforming UND lately. Makes the Herlad look really childish. This thread is a joke, but not suprised it was started based on seeing who started it. Please stop embarassing this city, this University and its sports teams, and it loyal fans and stop making yourself look stupid and stop commenting on this thread.
  8. http://www.undsports.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=13500&ATCLID=209444557 Read every quote of Bubba's in this interview. Can't tell you how refreshing it is to hear a head coach with this type of attitude. Deffinitely lacking from the previous regime. In Bubba we trust!!
  9. Picked with my head, not my heart. Hoping UND will bust my bracket in a big way!!
  10. The good thing is Jones knows the situation is in. He has to have his teams produce and win. If he fails to do that, he will be let go. Faison has shown that with the recent firing of Mussman.
  11. 100% agree. You would think that a coach that had the ammount of injuries UND has had to deal with and had to throw out primarily bench players out there for signigicant minutes and led that team to finish second in the league and to the conference championship game should be commended a little bit don't you think?
  12. Hope they change to the UND game eventually!!!
  13. 3rd and 2nd in the Big Sky the past two seasons. If that was Muss in football, he'd be getting a raise!!
  14. Friday, 7pm from Cincy. Sioux v. Badgers!!!
  15. Just watched the replay of #4 seed (16 overall) hoist the National Championship Trophy. Anyone in the tournament has a chance. Yale is proof of that. We are in we have our chance. 4 wins from glory!!!
  16. Enough with the fire Hak talk. Sure he is responsible for getting these guys in a position to win. But why are so many people complaining about Hak and giving the players a pass. It is the players that are on the ice. It is the players that are skating on the ice, make the hits, make the passes, and score the goals. Hak doesn't fail to clear the puck on a power play which results in a goal. Hak didn't miss two wide open nets. Hak doesn't make bad passes which lead to goals. If they don't produce, like last night, why is it the coaches fault? We lost. I get it. We are all pissed. But there are more people to blame for the loss than Hak.
  17. No one is saying this. NDSU won their conference. They won their conference tournament. They won an NCAA tournament game. They are a better team. Sure UND beat them, but if you are looking at who has had more success since then, it's obvious.
  18. SO....the NCHC Tournament Championship trophy. We have seen glimpses of it on the tickets for the tournament. But when are they announcing the name of the trophy? Saturday night at the trophy presentation?!!
  19. Xavier v. K-State in the Swee 16 was one of the best tournament games of all time. And the reason for that (besides being a great game played on the court) was that Gus Johnson called the game. He was great!! Every shot that went in he made a huge shot. "Got it"!!!!
  20. So players checking out is the coaches fault? If these guys don't want to work together as a team and are just playing for themselves, how is that Jones'fault? I am pretty sure he (like most basketball coaches) stressed point every day in practive about playing team basketball. The coach can only do so much. If these guys are gonna be lazy and not do what they did in practice and do it in the game, than that is all on the players. Guess what, this is D1 college basketball. Suck it up, do your job, and do what the cooach tells you to do. He knows more than these players about the schemes and gameplans he wants to run. If you are going to check out, then I don't want you on the team anymore anyway.
  21. That'$ an intere$ting que$tion. I to wonder why the $ize of lower bowl $tudent $ection wa$ cut in half. That'$ a my$tery!!
  22. The positioning of the student section may have been one of the biggest flaws that the Ralph ever did. In the old Ralph, the student section was half of the arena. The folks at the new Ralph wanted to make sure the students still had good seats for games, so they game them center ice seats in the two middle sections (as well as the upper deck on the west side). I am not sure why they never thought about students standing and blocking the season ticket holsers in sections 107 and 110, and the suites. The biggest problem is that there is no way they are going to move them. The people at the ends love their seats and aren't going to give them up to go to center ice. Because of this, it is going to be hard for students to make a real impact on the game.
