  1. Pathetic excuse. Not like you are going to work for 8 hours. Take a nap between games if that will get you thru!!
  2. The real question may be not if more people are pro Roughriders, but if more people are anti Fighting Hawk!!
  3. Wow. Crazy numbers. Currently 31-4 for Roughriders? So where are all these Fighting Hawks votes coming from? Definitely not from those on this site!!
  4. Will there be more Roughrider votes this time around that are "anti Fighting Hawks" votes? Sure there are some that don't like wither name. But not voting will most likely result in Fighting Hawks being the new nickname. Curios to see if the voting numbers go up!
  5. Anyone else see this scenario playing out? Fighting Hawks wins the next vote making it UND's nickname. Months from now it is announced that UND is in the works of developing the new logo and that the blackhawk bird logo going around is not going to be UND's new logo. Students will be up in arms saying they were fooled to thinking that was going to be the logo. Protests will ensue demanding that the blackhawks bird logo be the new nickname or the Fighting Hawks name be dropped. It will be announced that the hawk logo in question will not be able to be obtained. Students will protest for a change of the name. Interim UND President Ed Shafer, with his strong family ties to Medora, and western ND will decide that Roughriders is a much better fit and makes Roughriders the new nickname of UND. Call me crazy, but at this point in the process, is it that to hard to believe?!!!!
  6. What is the farthest west UND has played a hockey game in the continental USA??
  7. That was the problem. You a a room full of people that voted names up or down based on personal preference rather than actual laid out criteria. This is where the process failed. And failed miserably!!
  8. Here is the list of nickname trait requirements: Representative of state/region Honor past/look to future Promote pride, strength, fierceness, passion Sense of community/connectedness Intimidation to competitorsUnique, recognizable, distinctly UNDFormidable/fierce Inspiring, unforgettable Beautiful/classy When the initial cut was made to 63 and forwarded on to the committee, every one of those 63 names should have been rated based on the criteria listed above. The committee failed to hold to the very standards they came up with. Had they actually followed their own criteria, the names that were eventually narrowed down to vote on would be most likely met with more of a positive response.
  9. Tenure is not necessary. If you suck at your job, you should be fired. Am I over simplifying?!!
  10. But the geometric Sioux logo was eventually updated to a more natural life like logo that was approved by virtually everyone. So while an initial logo may be generic and boring at first, there is always the potential to update it to something better.
  11. Avoid the disappointment. Vote Roughriders!!!
  12. I heard of a Sioux logo that was morphed into a hawk logo. Is that true or were they just referring to the blackhawk look alike we have all seen?
  13. It find it absolutely amazing that a name with the word Fighting in front of it has a good chance to be UND's new nickname. What do you think is going to happen at the Ralph when Looker gets on the PA and says "Here comes the University of North Dakota Fighting...........Hawks" Will all these students that voted for Hawks yell Hawks or maybe yell something else?!
  14. Notre dame will get full support from a majority of Irish people. UND will gain approval from only one species of hawk, but will not gain approval from all species of hawks as laid out in the settlement with the NCAA. The "Fighting" will be dropped and a committee will be formed to come up with an adjective that is unique that fans can take a sense of pride in. Of course there will be those that want to just be known as just "The" but will be told by many that "The" is not an advective. Names of adjectives will be submitted and will eventually be narrowed down to 2 names that are less then appealing. A final vote will then be made to be the Peaceful Hawks or the Smooth Driving Hawks. Unfortunately the Peaceful Hawks logo going around is probably not available!!
  15. Not showing up to non hockey UND sporting events, holding up stupid signs at a hockey game, voting for a generic nickname based on a logo that will never be used.....Students sure are on a great run right now!!
  16. The Herald/WDAZ/KVLY/all media etx really have done a piss poor job in putting the truth out there about the hawk logo going around. They need to do their job and report that no logos have been submitted for any name and that the hawk logo in question is absolutely 100% NOT going to be the logo if HAwks is selected. We live in a world of uninformed naive people out there. Truth needs to be told. Heck, if Schlossman would jsut tweet out the correct info about that logo more people would know!!
  17. In the absence of no nickname, reverting back to the old name is expected. when a new name is selected, I am hopeful that all will transition to supporting UND teams using the new name. And that includes student athletes as well. Obviously not going to happen overnight, but it will happen.
  18. Yell Sioux at the end of the anthem if you want. That doesn't bother me much. I am referring to the rest of games, in all sports, referring to the teams as the Sioux. Sure you can honor the past by yelling Sioux at the end of the anthem, but the players that you will be cheering for have never been a Sioux. they will only have been known by the new nickname. Honor the past, but when cheering for UND in the future, use the new name and wear te new logo. that's all I ask.
  19. Being proud to be known as the Fighting Sioux and always honoring and remembering that tradition is one thing. But there are people that will refuse to move on and acknowledge the new nickname that UND will adopt and will wear Fighting Sioux apparel and yell "Sioux" at games many years after a new name is selected. Those are the "Fighting Sioux Forever" fans that people are upset with.
  20. The fact that the Alerus Center thought it was a better idea to put 2 big Alerus Center logos at midfield on the new turf instead of the interlocking ND logo really shows their their lack of effort to make the Alerus Center to home of UND football.
  21. Looking forward to purchasing a new UND Roughriders jersey!!!
  22. There will come a time in the very near future where UND teams will be known by a new name. Fans can choose to do a few things when cheering for them. COntinue to support the old name, support the new name, or neither. Hypothetical question....what do you think is the best way to go about cheering for our teams and athletes at UND?
  23. I guess you have every right to not support a new name and logo and just sit in the stands and yell "Go UND", "Go North Dakota", or be really stubborn and yell "Go Sioux". You have the right to do so. But the rest of us will accept the change and support the so called "Moronic logo/nickname" that the athleletes we are cheering for are wearing.
