There is going to be Fighting Hawk merchandise that looks bad. Can be said for a lot of sports merchandise. Sometimes the logo just isn't portrayed well on the article of clothing being sold. I am sure there was some Fighting Sioux merchandise that looked bad that no one wanted to buy.

Hopefully the ice at the Ralph looks similar to this next year!!

The N and the D are formed as a result of the hawk in front of it. Sure they could have done block lettering with a hawk head in front of it, but SME made a logo where the hawk actually forms the letters N and D. That is what makes this logo unique from the other bird logos out there (or any other for that matter).

Anyone else see this? Every current Champions Club member will be on the ice at the Ralph this season!!

It is unfortunate that the Fighting Hawks logo is not on the ice, but I can't say that I am surprised. The interlocking logo is being retired after this season. Next year what are they going to do? Just have the words "North Dakota" on the ice like they did before? That would be lame. The Ralph needs to make the first step and put the Fighting Hawks logo in at center ice starting next year. It is embarrassing that we have a new logo and our most predominant athletic program absolutely refuses to embrace it. If you don't like the logo, that's fine. Don't buy and merchandise with it on it. But the programs, their facilities at UND, the coaches, athletes, etc need to support the university and the new name and logo.

Ice going in at the Ralph today. Let the debate begin as to what logo will be painted at center ice!!

I found it. A white t-shirt with just the Hawk head on it. I have to admit, it seems a little lacking!

I was really bothered by the play calling on 3rd and 4th down of our last possession. We were moving the ball well and looked poised to score a late TD. We got too cute in the play calling, especially on 3rd down. Run the ball up the middle...both times if you have to. That, or sneak it with Studsrud. That is the point of the game where we obviously had to keep the chains moving, and the coaches made bad calls. Frustrating.

I would bet that we are wearing green and white jerseys tonight!

(yawn). This story is getting old. Whether he was misinterpreted about his true feelings about the new deal, I really don't think that is grounds for firing him. Even with his past history with miscommunication.

According to Schloss, the Alaska schools budget issues was taken into consideration. Doesn't really make sense to expand a conference when programs are most likely to get cut.

Any quarterback that is worth throwing out there as a starter has to be at least listed as the #2 on a teams depth chart. And teams aren't going to trade that player for nothing because the same thing could happen to them. Backups are important, especially in times likes these. In order for the Vikes to get a legitimate #2 QB, they are going to have to give up a lot. Especially considering the team trading them knows the Vikes are desperate. Spielman likes to build through the draft and doesn't like to make big splashy trades that gives up draft picks. But this may be a time where he may abandon that strategy. We will see.

Yes I know this. But my point is that I believe that it is getting more and more acceptance throughout the fanbase. And it's not just based on this poll.

As the person that started this thread, I will tell you why I asked the question and started the topic "What do you think of the logo now." It was my intention to prove my theory that now that hoopla of releasing the new logo has come and gone and merchandise has started to become available, that peoples reactions to the new Fighting Hawks logo would be more favorable than they were just 2 months ago. And I think that my theory proved to be true. Just based on the voting results, 2 months ago in the initial reaction thread, only 19% of voters gave it an A or B. In this thread, 2 months later, 30% of voters rated it an A or B. No of course that is just a small sample, but I think is does show the bigger picture that the logo is starting to gain acceptance.

And by doing this, UND has every sport except hockey under one conference.

Since NDSU's OT loss to Eastern Washington in 2010, the Bison are 4-1 against the Big Sky in the past 5 years (3-1 last year alone). Only loss was at Montana in the last second of the game last year in the season opener. While I hate defending NDSU, what bugs me almost as much is ignorant comments that can be easily proven wrong with facts. Not sure if you were trying to be sarcastic or not, but you are definitely wrong in your statement.

Was a little nervous how the logo would work on a green background. But the shirt in the picture put those worries to rest. Adding the border makes it work.
