It's time. Been said here before...UND needs to hire Chad Walthall. http://www.msumdragons.com/staff.aspx?staff=84 His resume speaks for itself. What he has done at MSUM is pretty impressive. Programs that turn it around that quick and then stay there don't just happen because of luck or a few good players that carry the team. Walthall is a great coach and will probably be offered bigger and better jobs very soon. That bigger and better job needs to be UND.

The only thing that can save Jones' job right now is a Big Sky regular season championship or a tournament bid. Anything less and you have to think his days are numbered. Is that setting the bar too high for someone to keep their job? Maybe for a new coach. But for a guy that has been here this long and continues to product mediocre teams year in and year out, its time to actually accomplish something other than making a crap tournament at the end of the season because you barely made it over .500.

That being said, in the last 30 years, the totals are as follows: Grand Forks Central State Hockey Championships - 5 Red River High School State Hockey Championships - 15 The term "What have you done for me lately" comes to mind!!

Comparing titles won by GFC when RRHS was not even around yet is pretty meaningless. Comparing them since both have been competing for Championships makes a whole lot more sense. Since RRHS openes in 1967, The comparison for Championships is GFC - 18, RRHS - 17. So Central has the edge. But barely.

I agree with this. However, not shaking hands looks much worse than stealing the ball with 3 seconds left down 11. Had McCaffrey and the rest of the Iowa team just shook hands after the game like normal, I doubt anyone woule be talking about Balwin stealing the ball.

I am wondering how he goes from a potential walk on at Washington St, to being at Eastern Washington, to playing at a JUCO. I am sure the story will come out. But seems like we either are taking a chance on a guy that hasn't lived up to potential or we are finding a kid with a ton of upside that is out to prove his worth.

I think we will end up seeing back to back undefeated State Champions this year. Its GFC and everyone else this year.

Which brings up a good question. When will we expect to see new jerseys for the hockey team? You would think that since they are retiring the interlocking ND after this season, that they would be looking for a redesign for the 2017-2018 season.

NDSU Perspective - Jacobson and Miller will have better games. (Doesn't take much compared to the first game). Werner will get his touches, but probably not as many if the rest of them decides to show up. The Bison don't really want to have to rely on him to carry the team again. He will still be tough to defend down low as he is more athletic than Shanks. Bison need to obviously shoot better, especially from beyond the arc and from the line if they want to win this game. UND Perspective - Crandall needs to stay hot. Had a great game in Fargo a week ago. Need to keep that going. Having Seales back will be a much needed lift for more scoring. Also defensively. I thin k we all can agree that Hooker is not going to have a game like he did in Fargo this time around. Shanks gained some confidence at UNI that hopefully transfers over. Shanks needs to do a better job defending Werner and prevent the easy layups. If NDSU goes cold again, need to double up Werner and not let him beat us. Prediction: NDSU should come out better shooting all around. I think we will shoot better as wwll, especially Hooker. If we can find a way to shut down Werner and Miller, UND should win this game. Seems like the Ralph likes the fact that in order to make the current jerseys look complete, you have to take it to their customizing shop and pay extra.

I am not saying that the hockey jerseys should have a huge giant Fighting Hawks logo on the chest. I am saying they need to integrate it on their jerseys/breezers/helmets/etc. The basketball team, as well as other sports, have done a nice job integrating it without hitting you over the head with it. I get it. The logo is going to take time for some people to adjust to it. Making slight modifications to jerseys like the basketball team has done is a good first step. I would like to see the logo on the shoulders and the helmets. Also using the new script on a newly designed jersey (without the ugly armpit colors, would look sharp as well.
