Next year there will be 31 NHL teams. 8 in the Metro, 8 in the Atlantic, 8 in the Pacific(with Las Vegas), and 7 in the Central. Finding a team for the Central Division would be the next natural choice to even everything up. Sure San Diego is an option, but if they got an NHL franchise, than Denver would most likely have to move over to the Central.

Been awhile. read the article posted on this thread today. Being close to the Canadian market is key. Played a huge factor in getting in in Grand Forks. Buffalo has the WJC next year. Next time it will be in the US will be 2022. If another city besides Buffalo is going to bid on it, I would say that Detroit has the best shot with their new arena being ready this year.

If the team finishes with around a .500 record and finishes in the middle of the Big Sky, Jones is done. Anything short of a regular season title or at the very least a tournament Championship game appearance and he is gone. Jones probably knows this. Tough spot to be in as a coach when you are coaching for your job.
