So with all this logo on the ice talk, I was curious about what the floor of the Betty would look like this year and if it would have the Fighting Hawks logo and new script. So, I contacted the Ralph. Here is what they said concerning the floor at the Betty; ________________________________________________________ The design of the Betty Engelstad Sioux Center floor has not been finalized yet. This project is scheduled to take place next summer. So for this season (volleyball and basketball) it will look the same as it did last year. Have a good day. "Starting in 2012, with the nickname controversy we are all too familiar with, that became a part of a national conversation of racial nicknames." I guess you can't really blame current UND students for not knowing when all this controversy started. Heck, when the NCAA "hostile and abusive" list came out, current UND students were barely in grade school!! Unfortunately, the history of the entire controversy has been drawn out so long (even from just since 2005) that most have forgotten the details.

Many of the posts on the REA Facebook page from the offseason are pics of UND players in the Sioux jersey from 5+ years ago. The are perpetuating the problem. I am not saying that we have to completely forget everything about UND being the Fighting Sioux (Kind of impossible if you walk into the Ralph). But by posting pictures players in the old logo, they are going against what the University is trying to do with their brand campaign to promoth the Fighting Hawks name and logo. UND does not own the Ralph, and the Ralph doesn't have to do everything UND says. But they still need to work together to do what is best for UND hockey and the University in general. And promoting the Fighting Hawks logo is a great way to do that.

Let's hope the Strib doesn't interview any college beat writers to fill the position!! Well...I guess any of them but one!!

The first game should be close to a sellout. If we can win that game and keep the momentum going by beating USD, the next game should be close to a sellout as well. Especially since we play Montana St. The excitement for this football program is highest it has been in the D1 era. It won't be long until all games are nearly sellouts!! But to keep that momentum going, you have to WIN!!! Hopefully that will be the case!

The logo ont he helmet did not have a white border around it like the one on the lacross helmet posted here. The border on it would make it "Pop" I think.

Totally agree. I think the hockey helmets would look great with this sticker on them. It is odd that they don't have anything on the helmets. Has to be the only college team in the country without them. This would be a great look for both hockey and football (eventually).

I am going to bet that the actual hat looks more like the actual logo than this one does. Remember this is most likely not an actual picture.

The new font is better than the old one in my opinion. More importantly, it matches the jerseys of other sports as well.

I wonder if they will ever switch it up and go with the black logo on the green helmets.

Still seems odd that they still don't have anything on the helmets. Oh well. Not a huge deal. Just odd.

The last Sioux jerseys in 2011 were the lighter (correct) green. I agree. This should be the color of our green jerseys.

Yes!!! Finally!

I really am looking forward to seeing these new jerseys with the numbers and names on them. These are definitely better than the previous jerseys. The font really makes them pop. Look at the other jerseys with just wording on it that someone previously posted. Boston College, BU, Denver, etc....its all just plain text. This font is different and as a result, better IMO. Looking forward to personalizing one of these. Now just to decide which one to get!!!
