Sidenote, been discussed here before, but I am wondering if they are going to change the sticker opn the helmet to the black and white logo instead of the green and white logo with the outline. They probably aren't, But I just think it looks better on a green helmet. Maybe the official twitter picture of @UNDfootball is telling us something?!!

That's what happens when you go from having a University President that is a west coast liberal to a midwest conservative!! (Alright calm down. Not meaning to start a political debate. Relax. It's a joke)

Wishful thinking or does Tom know more than we think?!! http://www.grandforksherald.com/sports/4305552-5-storylines-watch-und-football-opens-fall-camp "Bryce Blair, Elijah Grady, Ryan Tobin, Nathan Nguon and Noah Mortel will challenge for spots, especially on the right side of the line."

Don't even get me started on those "Flickertails Forever" fans!!

Maybe a committee can be formed to narrow the list down 3 to 4 times before we have 3 votes to decide the nickname?

Seriously. People get over deaths in their family quicker than some people have gotten over the loss of a nickname. Time to put things in perspective.

Just keep doing it over and over until a name gets 100% of the vote. That shouldn't take long!!

I never said that my feeling get hurt when people make comments on social media or chant "Sioux Forever" at games. I just think it is embarrassing to have people in our fanbase that act like that. The difference is I am on the right side of the argument. While there are people that claim "Sioux forever" that simply is not the case. There are those that claim that "that's not my nickname" that is wrong as well. My point is that while I accept the fact that there are some people who may never accept the Fighting Hawks name, that doesn't mean that I think its the right thing to do. This isn't an AA 12 step process. The University and the rest of the fans who have moved on don't need to cater to your beliefs and feelings and your inability to do so as well.

I guess the biggest thing that bugs me about the "Siouxforever" fans is their absolute refusal to accept anything Fighting Hawks related and their disdain for those that do. From comments made on social media ripping on the name and logo and remarks like "Don't you mean Sioux", to booing when Fighting Hawks is said at hockey games and chanting "Sioux Forever". I think every UND fan has the right to accept the name in their own time frame, if at all. But to vocally reject it in the way some do and call out fans who have accepted the Fighting Hawks name and logo is beyond embarrassing. I get it. There are fans that are never going to accept the new name and logo in any way. But don't disparage those of us that have.

Under Armour is probably my favorite brand. They put out good merch. This is a good looking hat. Is it fitted? Where did you get it?

This has always been my dream conference. UND, NDSU, SDSU, USD, Montana, Montana St, Idaho, Eastern Washington, Northern Colorado, and Denver. That gives you 9 schools for football which is ideal for scheduling (8 conference games and you play every team in the conference) and by adding non football Denver, it gives you 10 schools for all other sports as well as creating travel partners for every team. I agree that this would not only be the best conference in the FCS, but would likely be one of the most stable. A lot of dominoes have to fall to make this a reality, but a guy can dream right!!

Will the Fighting Hawks logo be at center ice at the Ralph this year? If so, here is what it could look like. I leave the floor open for debate.

Eastern Illinois is in the OVC. Did you mean Western Illinois?

Sometimes the refs do!

Yep. That is what I do as well. Since moving to the Twin Cities 2 years ago, I have looked every year for a weekend that hockey and football are both at home. Typically there is at least one weekend where that is the case. EWU football game has potential to be a huge game, but I decided to come up for the Sac St/Gopher weekend. Saturday is going to be a long day with tailgating starting early due to the early start, but it will be totally worth it. (Note to jdub27....get the jello and pudding shots ready!!)

Didn't they move our game with them a couple years ago to that same stadium?

PlutoTV looks good on Apple TV as well.

The one thing that I think the so called "Siouxforever" fans fail to realize is that we agree with them on the principle of their argument. The overwhelming majority of UND fans wanted to keep the Sioux name back in 2005 when this really got started with the letter from the NCAA. We all agreed that the NCAA was wrong with their assessment that having native american nicknames/mascots/logos created a "hostile" environment. We all agreed that political correctness was getting way out of hand and was apparent here as well. We all were hoping for a better nickname. We all were hoping for a better logo. But like it or not, this is the world we live in. And in this world, Fighting Hawks is the nickname for UND and the logo represents it. Should the NCAA have stayed out of the nickname issue, yeah. Could UND have come up with a better nickname, sure. Could SME come up with a better logo, sure. But all of those battles/debates/fights/etc are over now. There is no reason to keep fighting them, and resisting the change associated with them. We were all "Siouxforever" fans at one point in this process. Slowly more and more people accepted the fact that UND being the Sioux forever was not going to happen. We are all fans cheering for the same teams and athletes. That fight and passion we all had when we were united in our fight with the NCAA should be focused on cheering on UND. The nickname battle may technically be over, but it is still going on in our fanbase. I am hopeful that all UND fans will finally accept the Fighting Hawks name and logo for what it is: a symbol of the great University which we all cheer for.

University of North Dakota Hockey 2017-18 Season
Siouxperfan7 replied to Frozen4sioux's topic in Men's Hockey
I would be in favor of an outdoor game in Minneapolis....but not at Target Field. As said before, site lines at a baseball stadium are horrible. Was anyone at the Outdoor Wild game at TCF? I think that went over pretty well. I think the ice conditions would be drastically better considering the game would likely be in the dead of winter in Minnesota and not in Nebraska. Have a couple games there to sell more tickets. Get some old WCHA teams back together. Have Mankato vs St Cloud in one game and North Dakota vs Minnesota in the other. Given the proximity of all those teams, attendance should be pretty good.
