I'm heading to UNI and probably to St. Cloud. Went to Mankato and Winona last year. Winona was pretty cool. I've been to UNO and they have a cool field and very nice campus. Not many fans though.

You answered your own question. The mid-con is now involved whereas before the 'SUs had no other options. I don't know if UND has much to do with it, and the Big Skiy probably doesn't want to expand right now. At the same time, however, they might need to expand in the future and there doesn't seem to be a whole lot out west to accomplish that.

The Chicago GM was on Power Play on XM radio. The interviewer mentioned that Toews was the best pick for leadership. The GM then said that Toews is the kind of guy you want to marry your daughter. He then offerred up his own two girls! Nothing said on signing him. Just that they have a lot of youth and that they are high on many of their prospects.

I don't know, Taylor was already coming up with all sorts of excuses to not play. Herald Gee, and the Bison were upset that we wouldn't play them when it really wasn't a level playing field.

I kind of get the feeling that UND waiting the extra year for exploratory is to give some other NCC members a chance to look at DI. There's been some talk about a DI NCC. I understand it's a 13 year wait for auto births. What's the chances of the NCAA granting an exception? Consider, that this is one of the only regions in the country with no close proximity conference for members to join (obviously Big 10/11 is not an option). They are more or less forced to band together. Though with UND in it, I doubt it would happen.

This idea seems kind of stupid. Isn't the exploratory year meant as a gauge of whether or not a school should go? If we can't raise the money during that year, then stay in DII.

I truly could care less who wins it, since a Sioux player wins either way. However, it's been strange to listen to friends and radio comments and how they are all cheering for Edmonton. Why not Carolina? I can understand the hatred of them moving from a very cool place in Hartford, but we need to grow the game of hockey. Take Tampa Bay. Rarely sold out before winning the cup. Now the town loves them. I suspect the same will happen for Carolina if they win (which they should). And yes I know they made the finals before, but they didn't win and that was boring hockey.

Why is it bad for the NCC to be at six members, but not for the Great West?

While SCSU doesn't seem to have the ambition or athletic prowess to go DI, they are a quite large school. I think they are bigger than UND in terms of students. They'd also seem to have an easier recruiting time being so close to the Cities. I don't see Mankato going. They'll be hoping to win at something now. Duluth is the big loser after just getting above the NSIC level and could be drug right back in, though it does seem that Winona athletics is stepping up. I think USD would have no choice. It does scare me that 5 schools could be potentialy be fighting for the same small group of athletes that UMTC doesn't want. Then again, UMTC has been known to not recruit kids until too late. On the other hand, scheduling will be easier and the games more meaningful. That should also help attendance. It's a very interesting and crazy time. Has UND been in contact with other NCC schools about moving up? If all those schools decide to leave, will they all still have to pay the NCC fine?

Actually it's OLN that does that, not the arena. I guess they are changing there name to Versus next year.

I believe the Rogers Centre in Toronto was referenced earlier in this thread as having the tray system. Did anyone see that field when the Twins opened the season there? Awful. Injury Scary awful. Every seemed really stood out. Someone or something messed up. Can't really see the Metrodome seems. Could they be bigger sections? I wish GF would get a baseball team that served cheap beer. It's a nice way to spend the evening in the summer. I don't know if you could say that the team (Varmints?) failed as I think it was the league that folded.

Sure looks like a backhanded slap to UND fans that have a differing opinion than you. What I also see in that post is you talking down to the person you're responding to. You set up a question that you knew the answer you wanted to hear. If someone disagreed with you, you probably would've ripped them. Someone agreed with you, so you ripped everyone anyways. If you really don't care, then leave. So what some people trashed the Mid-Con. Big whoop, we play Augie. You have as well. You also don't know my opinion on the matter of conferences, because I haven't given it. Oh, and you're not even in the Mid-Con yet.
