To actually speculate on the possible departure of Parise: It actually doesn't bother me as much as the other losses. I think Lammy is just as good and ready to take over. However, I would be nervous about the backup goalie.

Let's not forget that the DC Elected tried to attack the NCAA before in regards to the BCS limiting those mid-major schools. Yet again the NCAA has upset those elected officials. At some point they will pass some law that hurts the NCAA. Also reported in Sports Illustrated a few weeks ago was a little blurb on how some former athletes were suing the NCAA over being able to earn money from the NCAA since they make so much off the athletes.

Looking at that last answer, I find it appalling that UND has to "rebut" the "hostile and abusive." Shouldn't the NCAA have to prove that we are "hostile and abusive?"

The head of the NHL's North American draft list was on the NHL channel on Esposito's show on XM today. I didn't catch all of if, but they asked him about Kessel and he said it was more the other players stepping up that dropped Kessel to 5. Also kind of alluded to the change of going and playing at college. Espo then brought up the USHL prospects at 10 and 30. McGuire (I think) praised Gino G. and mentioned how he made a name for himself by winning title at UND. He then said that NHL teams, because of the salary cap, are looking more at the college route kids. They get to hold their rights for four years and the Major Junior kids for only 2. Is this a new thing with this CBA?

Siouxrunner, great rant. What would have to be torn down to make Memorial Stadium work? It's an old interesting structure, but would football truly complain about some remoldaling? If you've never been in Memorial, it isn't big. What could be done with Hyslop to make it work better for some other sports? My thinking on that would be that it's cheaper to tear the place down. Hyslop might have been great for basketball at various gyms inside, but that building is a dump. Except for the intermural part that has classrooms that were hardly used when I was there. Anybody know when the that part was added on?

Don't worry. They are beginning to get ripped. I think many media outlets in town don't expect the Wild to spend any money on big name talent. They and I believe the fans will start to see the light that all the Wild care about is money. What are they, 24 million under the cap and they raised ticket prices? The conspiracy theory now is that they need to make a lot of money due to funding the X or something like that.

The Gophers lost their two BEST players. I don't think the same can be said of the Sioux. Though Smaby is a huge loss. At the same time Potulny made the PP go for the Gophs along with Kessel, who could also leave. They also supposedly had a better recruiting class last year. Johnson will be great, but will he play? Will one year be enough? Hirsch and Hagemo are an enigma. I heard Gopher fans spouting how Hirsch was better than Zach. I don't think he's lived up to the hype so far, and even worse is that no one knows how fragile of a player he is. Speaking of fragile, has Hagemo even touched the ice in 1 1/2 years? Hard to claim that two guys that have hardly played in over a year will be your saviors. Will Frazee stay academically eligible or will he need to be suspended again (or was that for something else)? Can you rely on him to not 'lose it' on the ice? He's a very emotional goaltender.

Why do you think BC and Northeastern? Did we sign another deal with those two teams?

Don't forget that they have a 'partnership' with NBC. I think NBC gets the finals if they want. They don't pay the NHL anything, but I think profits are shared. I'm not sure how long the deal with OLN is, but I doubt ESPN will ever pick the NHL back up. They love poker and streetball too much.

We had our resean for not playing, because back when NDSU left it hurt our playoff chances to much to even WIN against a DIAA. We offerred to play, bc it doesn't hurt us anymore for playoffs. I haven't read up much on Jack, but did Carolina not offer him the rookie max? It seems that next year rookies will be capped at like $50k less per year. Very advantageous money wise to sign this summer.
