I played trombone in the band for 5 years, and yes the trumpets over blow. I was there for the rebirth of the marching band and the slow death of the pep band. The problem (whether new or old) is the Ralph. They won't LET the band play for that long. As it is now, the band only gets to play 1 out of every 3 breaks. Though I'm sure that ratio has gotten worse. Plus, the band doesn't play at all during intermission. Gotta get them commercials in for the 800th time. I miss the Hey Hey Goodbye song when a team was about to be swept. The Fight on Sioux intro was pretty darn intimidating. And no, the band doesn't get paid like in the '80s. In fact the band didn't even travel for tourneys last year.

What are some of the other student ticket buying plans for other schools? Duke bball has a line for every game. Heck, Coach K buys them pizza.

Most big time DI bands play the same song over and over. This is normally their fight song or rouser. I believe I just saw in SI that the Tennessee band was played Rocky Top an average of 60 times a game last season! I saw USC last year and they only played their rouser and then a song at the quarter break. However, I do agree that the pop songs don't work and crowd pleasers should be employed. As far as practice, you were in band during college. Who has the time? Especially during FB season.

The players will have been skating. The captains are able to hold practices. There was an article in the Heraldo today about this.

But if you want it done right, don't go to Home of Economy.

Get new commercials and show them LESS! Put stats and scores on the ring. LESS ads. Yes you lose money, but I've seen all those ads so many times I end up refusing to buy the product anyways.

My apartment won't let me install another dish. Plus, DirecTV barely got a signal for the dish I do have.

No biggie. I enjoy listening to the radio. I'm just happy that more WCHA games will be on. It's a little rough picking what games to watch on Friday nights sometimes, but now I have a three room system. With VCRs. Looks like my winter weekends will be loaded with college hockey.

I think we'll see the regional sports networks pick up more games. So if you have a dish you might be in luck. My feeling is that hockey fans tend to be hockey fans. There aren't many casual fans. Therefore, I don't expect a huge drop off in fan support after this mess. Though this will hurt the sports growth.

Apparently Denver is getting 16 games on Fox Net Rocky Mtn. Surprisingly no Sioux games scheduled. My hope is that with no NHL more of the Fox Sports stations will pick up college hockey games.

So now the equipment man needs to check all those helmets each night. I'm sure he has better things to do. Maybe the player should bring the helmet to him. It's football season.

Techanical dificulties makes it sound like faulty equipment and not that they didn't have a person to run it. There was a nice long summer to fix faulty equipment. I sure hope this wasn't a "let's see if they'll buy dataflix instead" ploy.

I don't agree with the nets, and I don't think are a "necessary evil" either. I believe that the girl that was hit was the only death that the NHL has experienced because of a flying puck. My grandma has had endzone seats for decades and I've gone to a lot of games and never even seen someone draw blood from being hit with a puck. I think the high plexi-glass has done a good job of keeping the powerful slapshots out of the fans laps.

Personally, I think they could come up with a better name. On the other hand, unless you're linked to the military, you'll never hear the name. How serious is this war games plan?

If you are going to pull the redshirt off a player, you better use him. This isn't DI (-A for those confused NDSU fans) where a player might bolt after his junior year.

If an NHL player plays in the WHA this season, they can't return to the NHL for this season. If there is a season. I've heard a rumor that the WHA might not even make it off the ground.

Did Dressler play much yesterday?

I think you should take over, Diggler. You better do it for free too, since you've been going to games for free. Of course, this excludes hockey for the last couple of years.
