  1. What a weak call by the refs...an to do it in OT. Wow.
  2. I'll take Holden's and Starman's knowledge of the game and interesting commentary over the over-used cliches of Bucigross.
  3. Ken Landau, the CC hockey radio guy, loves to say the "where grandma keeps the peanut butter" line whenever CC scores top shelf (although, he hasn't gotten the opportunity to say that much the past couple of seasons) ?
  4. Yah, you're right-he has made it known his love of college hockey. I just get tired of the glib nature of his play by play.
  5. I've followed the game for years. I plead ignorant...what the hell does thin mints mean? And I hope terms like "saucy mits" and "twisted wrister" will go away.
  6. I'm sorry but I just watched the recording of the Penn State/Minnesota game from yesterday (great finish, BTW) and I found Buccigross' commentary, play-by-play annoying. I don't think he and Geoffrion (sp?) can touch Starman and Holden. Wow, those two by contrast really study and follow the college game.
  7. CC fashion, poor attempt at a dump in on the PP and DU goes the other direction and gets a shorty.
  8. Thanks for covering, MafiaMan! I'm at the game, very nervous. C'mon CC! Power Play!
  9. The reversal of a seemingly clean CC game-tying goal with just under ten minutes to play in the third period ultimately affects the other teams in the conference, not just CC and Miami. By winning last night, Miami picked up 3 additional points, moving them into a first place tie. A loss or a tie last night and it would be a two-way tie for first. Bad officiating in a game affects more than just the two teams on the ice-it can affect the outcome of the conference standings. I just don't want to see teams-whoever they may be-win or lose as a result of mistakes made of this magnitude by officials. End of rant.
  10. Yep, other than Slavin ringing one off the cross bar, it wasn't a very effective PP. Four goals in the past five games won't cut it.
  11. Yah, seconds later they call a penalty on Slavin for what I thought was simply a good, hard body check. (I could be mistaken though, perhaps it was a lagit penalty. I saw it live with no benefit of replay).
  12. No guarantee CC would've won or tied but we'll never know. What irritates me about them waiving off what appeared to be a clean goal is, the officials' questionable calls not only affected the game but affected the overall league standings. Miami gets 3 points and moves into a three way tie for first when who knows what the outcome might be had the CC goal stood? What is the standard of accountability for officials in the conference? Do these guys get graded through and after the season?
  13. Good question-no, no penalty called on Fejes. If it takes the refs that long to review the goal, then they were really trying hard to find something.
  14. Took the refs 5 minutes to review video to determine Fejes interfered with Williams. Haviland livid.
  15. No goal. CC got screwed-clean goal but refs reviewed it and waived it off. 2-1, Miami.
  16. I suppose it would be too much to expect the person who yelled to come out and publicly offer up an apology. It wouldn't take away what he did but it would be a nice sign of contricion to Coach Montgomery, the Pio team, and UND. Also, would it be out of line to do another moment of silence at tonight's game?
  17. CC played 20 minutes of good hockey in the first period and then reverted back to their old self in the second. Marble bailed them out stopping several grade A chances by Miami. Played better in the third but, like last Friday's game against Denver, once they went down by two, it was all over. For CC a two goal deficit may as well be a twenty goal deficit. Look and feel of the team next season should be different as Haviland has started following through on his promise to expand the recruiting base east. Two commitments from NJ and Penn.
  18. Bantam A hockey? I think you're giving them too much credit. More liike Adult Rec League Ankle Bender Pylon Hockey.
  19. To clarify, the part about "unlike ASU" only pertained to my comment about the arena and facilities and nothing to do with ASU's achievements on the ice. From what I know, ASU has been very successful at the ACHA level and have a strong history of their own.
  20. So last night at my game, I asked a teammate of mine who played his college hockey at Arizona about ASU going D-I. He claims that ASU is putting the heat on the Wildcats to make the jump too for many reasons, not the least of which it would have a close opponent. From what he says, unlike ASU, Arizona already has a college hockey-ready arena in the 6,400 seat Tucson Convention Center, a devoted fan base, a strong hockey tradition and level of success, and is the third most attended sport behind football and basketball (this part I can't verify). Before anyone picks apart my post, these are simply statements made by a buddy who went to school there. I cannot verify the accuracy of his claims but if true, I wanted to get others' opinions and thoughts about the possibility of the University of Arizona making the jump to D-I as well and what that could mean for the NCHC.
  21. I think it was Mafia Man who recently said, "Notre Dame does what's best for Notre Dame." -I couldn't agree more. Some might argue that UND as well as every other school does the same but in this case, I don't believe ND would have the same long-term vested interest in the success and future of the conference that UND or any of the other charter members do.
  22. I'm no vocalist expert but I thought that dude really did a good job with the National Anthem.
