No worries. Johan Franzen publicly called Babcock the worst human being he’s ever met. Years of manipulation and mind games he says led to having PTSD. Benching Jason Spezza in the Maple Leafs home opener with several of Spezza’s family in attendance to see his return home to Toronto. Healthy scratching Mike Modano in what would’ve been his 1,500th NHL game. He retired at 1,499 games. A hall of famer. Going through players’ phones in Columbus. Babs got sacked before ever getting through training camp. Benching Chris Chelios at an outdoor game in Chicago. Mitch Marner situation his rookie year. Being forced to rank his teammates and then Babs reading the list out loud in the locker room. To Marner’s credit, he ranked himself last. Mike Commodore has been on record many times of the treatment he claims he received from Babcock in Anaheim and Detroit. Not as serious as some of the examples listed above but just more examples of Babs’ behavior. Paul Bissonette and Ryan Whitney have also publicly called Babcock out for his treatment of players over the years.

100% agreed. I don’t have any sympathy for the Miller kid but I totally get your point on the complete double standard with how the NHL treats people based on their standing and position. Babs is a certifiable scumbag and there’s a litany of examples out there on the internet to prove it.

Anyone hear about Mike Commodore’s Twitter post regarding the Oilers development camp and the organization’s subsequent cease and desist order email (email, not formal hard copy letter) they sent him? Some say Commie lets Babcock live rent free in his brain but it seems the Oilers organization is letting Commie live rent free in theirs.

I remember my only option for catching Sioux games remotely was listening to UND beating Wisconsin in the Badger holiday classic via dial up audio! Circa 1999/2000.

Last year was the first season I could recall where every team in the league was solid, even the last place team ASU. Miami seems to be on the rise and the other bottom half finishers were no pushovers. Cliche for coaches of their respective conferences to talk about how tough their leagues are from top to bottom but the NCHC really demonstrated that last year.

I was more referring to them accusing UND of buying championships and here every other blue blood breaks out the checkbooks. Although I would be curious how much David Carle has to spend given the success he’s had. Seems like they just load up on quality guys up and down their lineup and don’t seem to garner much media fanfare.

Gopher fans must really be salty today. They were already salty at us the other day, now they must really be annoyed with Michigan.

They probably fill the barn for UND, the Gophers, and maybe Duluth but they’re probably struggling to get butts in the seats for non-rivalry games against teams like my CC Tigers, Miami, Western, etc. But very cool you got to go see UND play there and that you had a good experience. The Herb Brooks Center is definitely on my bucket list.

So reducing exposure (via television in the twin cities) will help increase attendance? What planet is this AD on???

The NHL basically said there wasn’t enough in the Columbus situation to prevent him from future coaching opportunities.

I’ve done a google search and sadly, it wasn’t just Mitch Marner, Mike Commodore, and Mike Modano who’ve suffered the wrath of Babs. Just google Jason Spezza, Chris Chelios, and Johan Franzen involving their experience with Babcock. The Franzen situation was particularly disturbing.

Boy, the Oilers must really be desperate. NHL.com press release a few minutes ago that they’ve hired Mike Babcock as their new coach.

Yes! That’s the story I heard as well! I think Brock and his family were rather insulted by the slight. Don’t blame them either.

I recall seeing something on a hockey podcast where he was pissed at Minnesota regarding their recruitment of Boeser, or lack thereof.
