CC got exceptional goaltending-finally-from freshman Alex LeClerc but gets no offensive help from his team which only managed to muster 12 shots on what I thought was a very average Wisconsin Badger team (that speaks to how bad CC is).

NORTH DAKOTA @ St. Cloud State - SATURDAY Gameday ********
Godsmack replied to AZSIOUX's topic in Men's Hockey
Pat Micheletti mentioned Gersich and his bloodlines and ties to Minnesota. Question: did the Gophers recruit him? Or was it a forgone conclusion that he was UND all the way as Pat intimated? Also; I noticed at the end of both games this weekend that Coach Berry had game pucks in his hand. Do you think he got these to give to whomever they determined was the player of the game or perhaps for Cam for the shutouts? -

Wolanin rang one off the post on that PP in the third. -

Wow! At about the 16:17 mark, Wolanin went end to end and absolutely dangled and undressed four Husky players! Only thing he didn't do was score but credit the St. Cloud goalie for making a great save. Did anyone pick up on Parrish's comment immediately following the play? "That was an absolute highlight film move but just not quite the finish....all Swedish, no finish" -

This sums up both teams' play last night....At about the twelve minute mark of the second period, with both teams even strength, color guy Mark Perrish says, rather cheeky, "Is North Dakota on a power play???" On a personal note, I like Cole Smith too. Man, what a banger! Love his grit and tenacity. He may make some inexperienced plays like any freshman along the way but you certainly don't see any signs of playing timid or scared. He looks like he knows he belongs. -

What the SC color guy just said would apply to us and tonight, our boys did it ...."at some point, these young guys have to stop using the excuse of being freshmen and sophomores and you have to own up and convince yourself and show that you're a D-1 player by competing every night. Every night." -

Yah, I see UND breaking out of this winless skid. Watched St. Cloud last weekend and while they were good against the inconsistent Tigers, there were some stretches where CC out-played SCSU. This tells me that they're human and UND, being a deeper and more talented team than CC, should be able to give St. Cloud a tougher fight. -
Hard to truly judge based on St. Cloud playing my lowly Tigers but St. Cloud's power play looked very impressive on the big ice at World Arena. Now they get to go home and play on the Olympic ice again against another poor PK. Let's hope that UND continues to work on its special teams this week in practice.

That is true but at the same time there doesn't yet appear to be any consistent level of improvement. Gwoz's name was thrown around by fans a few years ago but even Gwoz himself publicly said he wasn't interested-probably out of deference to his friend Scott Owens. I personally would've LOVED to get a guy like Gwoz. I also was hoping Carey Eades' name would've come up as a serious candidate but not sure whether or not he even threw his name in the hat. Why Eades isn't coaching a D-1 program as of yet is a great mystery to me.

After seeing last week's series at Omaha, I sincerely thought CC was starting to turn the corner but this weekend they looked just like the past two seasons. Unfortunately Haviland was hand picked by CC athletic director Ken Ralph so until his job is on the line, we're stuck with him.

NORTH DAKOTA vs. Denver - FRIDAY Gameday ********

So I liked and shared the OT goal on Facebook last night and it dawned on me....is the picture on Midco Sports in low def? It sure looked like a blurry, grainy picture. -

Excellent observations and points. I'd also add that to your point about not just turning a switch, the NCHC I believe is better from top to bottom....look at Western and even CC as proof. -
Just when I thought I couldn't respect coach Montgomery anymore than I already do. What a classy guy.

I'd be curious what Monty is preaching to his boys at Magness this week during practice and film. If I had to guess, DU won't take UND lightly but that said, I wonder if it's in their minds that our guys could be a tad fragile, ego wise, and really come out hard against us on Friday. To me, DU is a better all around team than Minnesota but we're playing at home so that helps negate some of that a bit.
-
Ha Ha, nope....that's former Sioux player Gary Valk. We met him a few years ago when UND played in that tournament in Burnaby, BC.
-
Me, my wife, and two friends road tripped it from Colorado to Omaha. CC forward Westin Michaud walked over to our dinner table after Friday's game to personally thank us for our support. He was a really nice guy and spent some time chatting with us about the team and such. Definitely made the experience that much better for us!

I loved Amsoil Arena! Like Baxter Arena, I loved the open air concourse. I'm going to Miami in March for the first time and very much looking forward to experiencing games in their barn!

Oh we didn't see shoddy workmanship at all. Perhaps they weren't quite finished with everything when UND was there. Sight lines were fantastic and you wouldn't know it seated 7,800 people as the ceiling was nice and low, giving it a very "cozy" feel. Loud too. Fans were awesome in defeat and victory. Free parking for fans too! How often do you see that?!?! And finally, lots of bars and restaurants within short walking distance across the street from the arena.
