A little off topic from recent topic of conversation but any thoughts of this year's UND team having Poganski, Gardner and Olson be this year's "heavy line?"

Just got word that Alex Roos and Duggie Lagrone have left the CC Tiger program. Upper classmen that had gotten very little playing time under Haviland as of late. At the rate coach Haviland is going, he won't have enough skaters to dress.

The Avs have not used their first pick on a defenseman in a decade. I get it-sometimes you take the best available kid in the draft and Jost certainly was it. That said, the Avs have a lot of talented forwards and centers; their biggest deficiency, IMO, is on the blue line. As an editorial aside, I almost pick up a vibe of glee on Chambers' part when he wrote of Jost being a "one-and-done" at North Dakota. Let's not forget that he's a beat writer for the Denver Post and DU hockey so there's no love lost between DU and UND. The part about Jost growing up and raised by a single mom was irrelevant and inappropriate in my opinion.

I watched the game and have to give huge props to Chris Wilke for selling his body out and blocking a heavy slap shot from the point, late in the 3rd. That one looked like it hurt too. Nicely done, Wilke.

I see Minnesota scheduled some powerhouses again for the Mariucci Snoozer.

I just about fell out of my chair in disbelief! CC strings together back to back wins! Best of all, a guy I play beer league hockey with had a kid who plays for Cornell so I have bragging rights!

My wife won Rylan Schwartz' white CC home jersey last year. CC does a raffle at every home game, raffling off both authentic game worn jerseys as well as sticks. I mention this because someone here mentioned that UND (and probably other schools too) will auction off authentic equipment knowing how much $ can be made.

So, does anyone think Berry will be on the phone with Josh Fenton asking for additional sanctions on Fleming? My God, two 5 minute majors in one game and leads the league in penalties?! The guy plays reckless.

Good post. I agree with your sentiments about Penn State. Well coached and the program clearly receives the support of the school and administration.

CC got exceptional goaltending-finally-from freshman Alex LeClerc but gets no offensive help from his team which only managed to muster 12 shots on what I thought was a very average Wisconsin Badger team (that speaks to how bad CC is).

Pat Micheletti mentioned Gersich and his bloodlines and ties to Minnesota. Question: did the Gophers recruit him? Or was it a forgone conclusion that he was UND all the way as Pat intimated? Also; I noticed at the end of both games this weekend that Coach Berry had game pucks in his hand. Do you think he got these to give to whomever they determined was the player of the game or perhaps for Cam for the shutouts?

Wolanin rang one off the post on that PP in the third.

Wow! At about the 16:17 mark, Wolanin went end to end and absolutely dangled and undressed four Husky players! Only thing he didn't do was score but credit the St. Cloud goalie for making a great save. Did anyone pick up on Parrish's comment immediately following the play? "That was an absolute highlight film move but just not quite the finish....all Swedish, no finish"

This sums up both teams' play last night....At about the twelve minute mark of the second period, with both teams even strength, color guy Mark Perrish says, rather cheeky, "Is North Dakota on a power play???" On a personal note, I like Cole Smith too. Man, what a banger! Love his grit and tenacity. He may make some inexperienced plays like any freshman along the way but you certainly don't see any signs of playing timid or scared. He looks like he knows he belongs.

What the SC color guy just said would apply to us and tonight, our boys did it ...."at some point, these young guys have to stop using the excuse of being freshmen and sophomores and you have to own up and convince yourself and show that you're a D-1 player by competing every night. Every night."
