Just use a garden hose, that will get rid of him. If not try dynamite

Everyone knows GF is just a northern suberb of Fargo It is much more likely Toews will be playing in Chicago next season. It was fun watching him develop last season.

Ralph was an amatuer historian, WWII in particular. He did have these parties. But he also had Churchill parties, Stalin parties and Hirohito parties. The stuff about him printing "Hitler was right" stickers is completely false. Saying, "I saw it on the internet" does not prove it was true. Ralph's WWII collection is impressive and is not solely nazi artifacts. He has Japanese, Russian, American, British and likely other items from WWII.

I'm going for Carolina. Matt Cullen will bring the Cup to the FM area for sure. Commodore would likely bring it to GF if he has time. I can see him bringing it to his home town first.

UND didn't really have a choice with all of the early departures. Forney is likely going to be a first or second round draft pick. If he was going to play a year in the USHL, he would likely only spend one or two years at UND.

This is my response from Earl Pomeroy. Ummm Congress does this with everything. This is a great example of political teetering. Mr. Pomeroy completely agrees with me, however, he basically states that trying to do something about the problem would simply create more problems, so lets just ignore it. Spoken like a true politician. I wonder if Mr. Pomeroy is afraid of backlash from certain Tribes "cough Abramoff, cough". My opinion of Mr. Pomeroy is quickly fading. I would hope an elementary school kid can see the complete lack of logic in this response.

Overall this is good news for GF. However, Altru is starting to pull the same stunts Meritcare is known for, i.e. strong-arming competition. Independent physician networks are as dangerous to large hospitals as unions are to retail corporations. They hate the fact they must give these non-employees privileges, and pull all kinds of dirty stunts to try and deter them from using their facilities. A Dr. in Fargo (I don't want to mention his name) is trying to get a independant physicians hospital established in Fargo. Meritcare is doing everything they can to prevent this.

What would the contingency be? The only damages UND could seek (besides punitive) would be for any loss of revenue do to the ruling. If UND is going to argue antitrust, this would basically be an attempt to topple the NCAA as a monopoly. I am not sure of their chances at winning this argument, but I suspect it would be pretty low. The Constitutional argument could be pretty broad. Frankly I have no clue how much if any the NCAA is governed by the government, which would make a huge difference in this arena. If the NCAA is truly a private organization the Constitutional arguments are few and weak. I guess I would agree with the Sicatoka and say the best theory to sue on would be contract. What is the contract? If this is the case, then it becomes much less specialized. I am sure there are numerous contracts UND has entered into with the NCAA. It would be interesting to review them. Like someone else mentioned the antitrust and Constitutional theories may not be realistic. Especially if other schools do not join in the lawsuit. At this point UND's best bet is to go through the legislature.
-
His staff will respond to emails as well. Using the legislature is likely a better bet than the judiciary for UND. I am somewhat surprised with this list and cannot believe it will have much opposition outside of the wackos in California. This could be the beginning of the end for the NCAA's strangle hold over colleges. IMO this is the biggest news on this subject to date.

This is not always true. In Fargo the Vogel firm advertises that they are the "best" and charges like it. My boss has me as her only associate and kicks the crap out the "best" lawyers at Vogel on a regular basis. From personal experience in Minneapolis, the bigger firms do usually have the only attorneys that specialize in anti-trust and other highly specialized areas. So I agree that in UND's case they will have to go to a bigger city to find an attorney. It is impractical for a small town (yes Fargo is still small in comparison) attorney to practice in these areas. Like I said before, Washington, DC or NYC are probably about the only places they are going to find a qualified attorney.
-
They are not stupid, the work will be done by someone qualified. This area is pretty specialized so they will likely find someone in DC or NY. As an attorney myself I can tell you $100,000 in fees is a pretty good payday for anyone. What most of these big hitter type attorneys do is pawn off the small stuff to someone local and save all of the court appearances and complex litigation for themselves. Basically it will probably cost $500+ an hour (plus all costs) for the big time lawyer and $200 (or less) an hour for any local help. I have no idea the number of hours required for a case like this, but I cannot imagine it would be much more than 200. It is not like there will be a week long trial involved (at least I cannot see how there would be). I agree with you Supertrex, bigger is not better. However, going after the NCAA on this issue is going to require an attorney with a specialization in Constitutional and anti trust areas. There are not too many small town attorneys specializing in these areas.

More good stuff I'm guessing this guys spends most of his time telling his fellow North Dakotans how much more enlightened he is and how wrong everyone else is.

That was my favorite quote. While I understand the Alumni Assoc. is for all Alumni, I do not understand why they will not give support to the nickname. Those opposed are an ultra minority and most likely do not contribute much to UND anyway. I wonder if they see Phil Jackson as a potential recruiting bit when/if UND does go D1 and are trying not to step on his toes. Who is this Morrison guy? Edit - answered my own question and I'm not the least bit suprised. Nice work there Robin Hood
-
I always understood that the Showcase was only for players who did not have any post high school offers. I was suprised to see LaPoint on team WI. Team ND had a very nice showing, and represented the State well. The past couple of years Team ND has done very well, and handled themselves very well. After the incident where half of the team was sent back to ND for drinking several years ago, the people in charge have done a great job with these kids.

UND has a basketball team?
-
The on-ice reasons for captains is having someone to speak with the refs. Goalies cannot cross the blue line under most rules, except for timeouts, so they cannot skate to the refs. This is the main reason goalies are not typically captains. That and they are all crazy.
-
Team ND tied New Jersey yesterday. The Team ND girls beat team Atlantic. So far a good showing for ND. Michigan and New Jersey are both typically good teams.
-
That would be a joke Those guys have a great sense of humor, but the music is absolutely terrible. At the beginning of this season everyone knew it would be the last one for Stafford and Smaby. The "inside information" claimed here is called "common knowledge".
-
The Blackhawks have the second best D rookie in Brent Seabrook and also have Cam Barker who was a top five pick in last years (2004) draft. Smaby is a good player, but like Greene and Commodore, he will probably not be a huge impact player in the NHL right away.
-
Exactly. Smaby looked pretty bad at times his freshman year. IMO he improved more than any current Sioux player. He was a big reason the Sioux had so much success this season. Finley should have been a senior in high school this season. He has progressed nicely and will likely be a very good stay at home D-man, although I don't think he will ever be as physical as Greene or Smaby. He has a couple more inches of reach that will allow him to use his stick more. Finley is a great skater for his size, I would be very happy to have him captain the team in two years before moving on - like Greene and Smaby.

I was under the impression Phil was "embarrassed" about being from ND. He is sure sounds more like a multimillionaire celebrity from California than a guy from Williston. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but I do not put too much stock in what Phil Jackson says, unless it is about coaching basketball.
