  1. Some iffy calls and non-calls. Fact of the matter is that UND didn't control rebounds and gave up the garbage in front of the net. We also missed too many open chances on the offensive end. Hopefully tomorrow has a better result.

    Week 6 EWU

One thing that works into our benefit here is that I think, under Mussman, UND plays better while on the road. Not really sure why it is, maybe he has more control over the team on the road and is better able to focus them, who knows. It is definitely a must-win for UND to have any shot at the playoffs this year.
  3. I really liked the call and it came at the right time. Brown had an angle to get to the first down but he didn't trust his speed for whatever reason. His trying to turn it back upfield was what drew the holding penalty. Just a poor decision on the players imo. That would have been huge and swung momentum back.
  4. That 4th set was about as bad and as good as I've seen the girls play this season. It was an amazing comeback and showed a whole lot of character. Watching this team, I really think the team goes as Lexi Robinson goes. When she is pounding the ball, she gives a lot of energy and confidence to the rest of the team. I also think it gives the feeling that if nothing else works, set it for Lexi and she'll get a kill. Once they get confident they get aggressive, and as long as they stay aggressive they showcase the talent that they have.
  5. Now if only we could combine him with the Jake Miller from Fresno last year.
  6. If Hardin eliminates the drops he's been having, then I might agree with you there. Dressler was amazing because he had skill but he was always consistent. You put the ball near him, and he caught it. Didn't matter how hard or easy the catch was, he'd get it.
  7. Is this Mannausau's (SP?) first year as the sole defensive coordinator? Just wondering how we could have regressed this much from last years squad. Yes we graduated some good players, but we're supposed to be filling in with some better recruits right now. Also wondering when the offensive line is going to show up for run-blocking...our top two running backs gained a total of 28 yards between them, which is exactly half of what the quarterback gained on the ground. It's like a weird mirror universe from last year. This year we can pass, but we can't run, and we can't play defense.
  8. They announced the crowd at 700+, can't remember the exact number but in the 700's. They were pretty quiet a lot of the time, but whenever we scored a good point or were on set point they'd get a bit louder. Definitely heard the Betty louder and actually expected a bit bigger of a crowd for the conference opener.
  9. The thing that strikes me about the team this year is the inconsistency. They have stretches where they look absolutely great and could they keep it up, they'd dominate much like last year's team. But then they hit stretches where there is poor communication, no challenge at the net, or just plain old mental errors. One other thing that struck me was that we don't have that one person that can consistently put down kills. Lexi Robinson is the closest we come, in my opinion, but she'll either hit long or directly at someone about a third to a half of the time. Hopefully they improve throughout the year and can fix some of the inconsistencies.
  10. Jumping into the "best RB in the Alerus" conversation, I'm just going to throw a name out there for consideration: Stefan Logan.
  11. One thing to realize about the 1500 students you will get, most of them will be those that are actually interested in the game and willing to make the noise. You'll get those seated down by the sidelines willing to heckle, willing to make noise, and willing to put doubt into the opposing team. Those 1500 will be the loudest of the students, and hopefully they will motivate the season ticket holders and other general admission to make noise as well. Last week I was truly disappointed in the large number of absences present in the season ticket holder sections on the UND sidelines. Please criticize them before criticizing the large number of students that showed up to support the team against an inferior opponent last week. mg2009, I'm not saying you're criticizing, that is more of a general statement to other posters that have been negative/critical towards the student section in the past. I agree with just about everything you say in your post except I'm predicting a UND win.

    Opening Drive

Yeah, I was hoping it would go through the season like "Through These Doors." Pretty disappointing that it's not.
  13. UND lost quite a bit from last year, it'll take a little bit of time to find the people that feel comfortable stepping into those sizable shoes but I think within a few weeks they'll get their feet under them and get back to playing closer to last years level.

    2012 early look

His deep pass to Hardin down opponent sideline was the play after breaking the leg I think. A bit underthrown, but still a good throw for chucking it over a broken fibula and not knowing exactly what was wrong at the time.
  15. My guess would be that it would be similar to what they have on Memorial right now.
  16. Wasn't there talk of putting in another parking garage on the lot immediately across from Memorial? If I'm not mistaken, they were going to put that parking garage in, then convert the rest of that lot into the soccer field/track. Likely then they'd just have the overflow parking at REA and bus over similar to how they bus overflow parking to the REA now.
  17. Awesome article though and a well-thought out coat of arms.
  18. Go to the Toasted Frog downtown. I actually prefer it so Sanders. Fun environment, creative menu, excellent food.
  19. I've gotta I'm equally, if not more, excited for the volleyball season as I am for football. I've always been a football first guy, but have fallen in love with the volleyball team through the transition!
  20. Three years ago UND was in the middle of the transition to FCS, playing a perennial power in their own home yard, were winning at one point, and only lost by 10. What does all of this mean for the game this year? Absolutely squat. Both teams are different and we'll find out in a couple months. Thank all that is holy that forum trash talking doesn't dictate what happens on the field
  21. I predict more wins...if we can hit free throws!
  22. A persistent troll this one. If not a troll, then, well I'm just speechless.

    New Jerseys

Which usually involves you putting down something that other people like. Ask the majority of current football players which they would prefer, the baggy jerseys of the 70's or the current tight jerseys and almost every single one of them will tell you the current model, especially anyone that has to run with the ball. Which should UND take into account when designing the new jerseys, the opinion of someone who will never play another snap, or the current and potential players in their program?

    2012 early look

Gotta agree but at the same time there simply was not a lot of running in the spring game. You could see the coaches wanted to evaluate the QB position and so just about every play was a pass it seemed.
  25. To me the white line was the weaker or more inexperienced one. It could have been pass rush but I think it was more OL fault. There were flashes of some good pass protection, but not enough to see what all the offense could do, at least not like what the green team accomplished.
