  1. Has anyone heard whether or not Aaron Dell is going pro for sure or not? I have heard he is attending his pro camp, but nothing on if he will sign or not. Otherwise what is our goalie situation for next year? Gothberg? The kid from Alabama-Huntsville? Without Dell this could be a soft spot for us next year. Thought?
  2. Love The Nokota. The UND Fighting Nokes! could get a cool logo out of that too. Though it will never be as good as the Fighting Sioux! Fighting Sioux Forever!
  3. Alot of pressure on the reps to get this deal done. I know some opposers have already changed their vote. Will Mr. Zellers?
  4. That is crazy! I cannot even imagine that much traffic!
  5. NEVERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!
  6. Well, If you do support the stadium and you live in MN, Call your Rep!
  7. I will concende that TCF was a ridiculous project, because they could have found a way to consolidate that stadium with the Vikings.
  8. Arena that have paid and employed a lot of people.
  9. Im saying it would be a refreshing change to see tax dollars go to something that I could enjoy. I have no problem with the welfare program for people who need it, but it is definitely abused by many people. Those are dollars that could elsewhere. As for the stadium, the state may be investing in something that would make a billionaire richer, but people need to look at that as incidental and realize there are many benefits to the state as well. heard alot of these same arguments against target field and the xcel energy center, and nobody seems to be any worse off from those being built. Let just get it done and get it done right and we won't need to address the issue again.
  10. good stuff ... I def didn't follow the MN politics as much when I was in NoDak. Either way, I think there is plenty of blame to go around between both parties for how unproductive this session seams to have been. I think its pretty ridiculous that they have stayed in session longer than planned and effectively accomplished nothing in doing so. I will of course change my opinion on that if they find a way to get this deal done. I have never been a fan of Mark Dayton, though this ordeal does not leave me as a fan of Mr Zellers either. I am fine with someone being against a stadium; As long as they take a firm stance and are fine with seeing the Vikings leave. But Zellers said he wants the Vikings to stay in MN and win, but will not support the stadium, meaning they will leave. His word and actions are nothing but contradicting of each other, and it is the hypocricy that really drives me nuts. I guess whatever happens, will happen. I would just really hate to see the Vikings leave the state. I know alot of people could care less, but i am sure that they are heavily outweighed by the number of people that want them here. Alot of political reasons to support or despise a stadium. Personally, I want to keep my team and it would be nice to see some economic stimulus.
  11. You mean Kyle Rau, as Chad is in the MN Wild system.
  12. Are you sure? I don't recall ever hearing about all these vetoes with pawlenty (though I was in Nodak for much of it and may not have paid close attention) ... I actually tried to lookup that information earlier but could not find it. Let me know if you know where to find that info. Some vetoes are probably warranted and understandable, that comes in the territory of the position; but the fireworks bill? What a terrible place to excercise that power. Nothing worse than someone saying they will keep you safe, because you (the public) are to stupid to do it yourself.
  13. Funny how politicians always call to gather a census of who will support and vote for them prior to elections, but they never seem to call, ask opinion or gather census on important political issues that would affect said voters. Maybe they lost my phone number…
  14. Certainly can't say anything about the Twins record; terrible to watch. Not that winning percentage is a part of my arguement (ahem, 3-13 ouch). I liked the idea that was thrown around about a few cent per drink tax. It would bring in tremendous revenue, but wouldn't overwhelm any one individual. I also liked the idea of a downtown casino; or taking advantage of the Indian tribe that offered the 400mil in exchange for setting up their own dtown casino the splitting profits with the state. I think there are probably hundreds of ways, or combinations of ways to solve this financing issue without really impacting or hurting any one demographic, but the people in office are never smart enough to constructively solve problems. All of the people who are smart enough to solve these issues in a way that appeases most are too smart to get involved in politics in the first place.
  15. Ok then it can be re-phrased and states that Wilf was responsible for finding the financing for 45%. Worded differently, same results, and same amount needs to be financed by the state
  16. I'm a state taxpayer, and I think it would be a refreshing change to see my money go to something like this. It was the same arguments for the Twins stadium, and that has done a tremendous job of drawing people in and making money. Nobody is worse of because of it. I think it is safe to say that this vote will seriously impact the upcoming election and who makes it through.
  17. Voice of the public: Gov Dayton says calls to his office overhwleming in favor of Vikings stadium: 966 support, 141 oppose. Interesting to see if public opinion will be enough to push the vote on Monday, even without Mr Zeller's support.
  18. If there wasn't a benefit to posessing an NFL team, nobody would want to buy them. To say they are not a assett to the state is a pretty asinine statement, considering the number of tax dollars they generate, not to mention all of the out of state dollars they bring in. It is pretty embarassing that this could not get taken care of quicker and easier. Instead, this has basicall turned into a glorified pissing match between Dayton and the GOP.
  19. As much as I despise Mark Dayton he said it best, it doesn't really matter where the Wilf's get their financing from whether is be the bank, their personal acct, private investors, or the NFL. The bottom line is that whatever the number is, it takes away from the state's portion of the financing.
  20. Fair enough . . . I actually just moved back to Minneapolis from ND, and as a fan and now tax paying citizen of the state it is disappointing. Aside from losing the team that many love, it really sucks to pay all those tax dollars and not see them go to something you want. For example, it really irritates me to see so much of our tax dollars go to programs like welfare, which seams to be a broken system that allows many people to become dependent upon it; then when a portion of those dollars could go to something i, and many, would actually enjoy, for a change, the people in power cannot work together to find a solution that would appease most if not everyone. Don't get me wrong, I am not trying to bash on welfare. It is a program that is needed by many, but it certainly abused and is a bottomless pit for our tax dollars. Seems to me that Zellers is overly stubborn and Dayton is power happy (Veto-what!)
  21. C'mon people, Lets hear some opinions on Zellers and the Vikings stadium. Very interesting to hear some opionions on this issue and why people feel that way.
  22. Not a stadium proponent, I assume? That is certainly a fair opinion, though if he didn't support the issue he should have come out and said so when Roger Goodell was lobbying to him. Instead he lied to all parties involved and said they would get it done. I can understand being upset about Dayton constantly vetoing your top political issues, but this needs to be about the interest of the state and the people of MN. Not the political power struggle between them. I think it is safe to say that regardless of the outcome of this issue, this was handled extremely poorly and without class by both sides. I only single out Zellers because of his UND affiliation.
  23. If you support the stadium and live in Minnesota, call your representative!
  24. Is Kurt Zellers currently one of the most disliked and despised UND alumni for setting up the Vikings to leave Minnesota?!?! I am typically a strong republican and think there is more than enough blame to go around on this stadium issue. But it is clear that Dayton and Zellers deserve to carry most of the blame. Zellers for his lack of support and decisiveness in the process, and Dayton for his incompetent incapability to compromise with the GOP. Anyone else tired of this power struggle? That being said, is Zellers currently UND's most disliked alumni. Discuss . . .
  25. Ha, the NCAA is such a joke. They really do have too much power for their own good. These people are just pathetic.
