They are just saying the Grizz are 2.5 point favorites over UND
-
Sounding like the Grizz top receiver (Wortham) is out this weekend.
-
Its a great sound bite for a movie speech and to tell young selfish players .... but having names on the back is just plain convenient! From little kids up to adults.
-
I believe you are correct, I feel like I remember hearing that as well. You certainly aren't the first to mention his speed, I just feel like he was hyped up as a potential deep threat and he either doesn't have the speed we thought, can't find separation, or doesn't have the hands to be the deep guy. I don't know!?!?
-
I will say, I remember being excited about his potential when we landed him. If I recall, we got him right after Carson Hegerle committed to the Bison. Was really hoping to land Hegerle and instead we got Dennis. Never had really hear much about Hegerle and just looked him up to see he retired from football in 2024. Too bad as that kid seemed to have a lot of potential, but that's the way it goes sometime. Dennis has certainly contributed and held onto the ball while taking some massice hits (FU SDSU!), but was hoping he may be a bit more of a deep threat with his speed .... I'm shifted my excitement and hope to Deng Deng, but will be glad to eat some crow if Dennis can start catching the ball in bigger chunks.
-
We always hear that Dennis has speed, but I don't feel like I have ever seen it. Maybe it hasn't fit the offensive scheme or what we are asking him to do, or maybe I'm missing something.

Based on limited reading it looks like there may be some opportunities to run on the Grizz. If CWU can do it, UND should be able to do it and do it much better. That being said, I can see the Grizz putting a big emphasis on stopping the run this week. Seems like a game where you may want to get Jerry some easy completions out of the gate to open up the run game a bit. I could see this being a Seidl and Gilman show this week. Should be fun! I'll likely be watching on my phone from a kid's soccer game somewhere.

Oh I think Z has been very effective in far more than just the NDSU game. Week one was strange since he didn't really see the field after the fumble. Week 2 he played ok, just didn't seem to have quite the same gear as we have seen in the past. Maybe I wasn't watching closely enough. Either way, as you mentioned there seems to be a ton of balance and a lot of depth at RB, so I'd expect to see a different approach this week, and more Seidl with Leigh in the pass game. Leigh really reminds me of Smith, if you get him in the flat with a little room, he can be dangerous. I do wonder when we will see Langama. I'd assume they want to keep his RS intact if they can, but they also talked about how dynamic he was in camp, so are they saving him to surprise some teams? MT is a big road game, could he be used there? OR do we expect to see him eased in later on? Maybe garbage time against Valparaiso? Thoughts?

Great call out! I hadn't even looked back to last season, but my goodness, is that hideous considering the teams listed. Still ... Portland State is exceptionally bad, so giving up some of the bigger plays cannot happen or teams like Montana will expose it. But still better than last year! Also forgot to call out in my post that some of the officiating was pretty ugly as well! I saw at least a few holds on PSU on key plays and a facemask that went uncalled. Officiating will never be perfect, but there were some blatant misses in that game. Nice to be able to get excited about this team and what we have seen thus far! Also agree, we will continue to see the defense improve throughout the season.

Couldn't bring myself to comment after the game against K State. Was so happy to see how well UND played but so bummed to see them miss an opportunity that was there for the taking. Clearly K State isn't the team they were last year, but they are still a Big 12 team, and it still would have been a great win to have. - Portland State is who we thought they were. A BAD football team, but UND did what they were supposed to do and took care of business. Definitely disappointed in the number of points we gave up, but we knew the defense would take some time to fix. Even so, there were some nice flashes from the D, but we need to clean up the blown coverage that we saw multiple times. Some of those points were also on JTJ for waving the ball around and not getting rid of it. - Like several others have mentioned ... where was this QB battle? JTJ is a great athlete, and they can definitely work him in to specific situations, but Jerry clearly makes the quicker decisions and has the better vision at this point. It was noticeable almost immediately that JTJ could scan the field as quickly. Guy is still a freak athlete and hopefully will play a key role eventually. Jerry ends up with 5 TDs and only played a little over a half?!?!? Easily the most excitement we have had around a QB in a while! Looked great last week too, but next week will be tough!!! - Ziebarth still looks like he is getting going for the year. Wasn't bad but just hasn't looked like he did last year. I like that they gave Seidl some rest, because we will need him next weekend! - Thinking of brining my 13-year-old daughter (who plays soccer) up to campus this week. Pretty sure she can kick better than Elrichs did! Cheap shot I know, but Elrichs can't seem to hit any shot, so warranted after that performance. Honestly, open it up this week! Those are points we can't afford to miss. - MORE DENG DENG!!!!! - Tight End U! Love the trust they have in Hromadka. This kid has a bright future! Keep it going! We may have had more completions to a TE against Portland St that during all of Rudy's tenure here! - Keep the turnovers coming! Could have used a few of those interceptions in Week 1. - Assuming we haven't really opened up the playbook year but would like to see if we have any sort of deep ball game. - Nice to see Brunell get some work. Hope to see more out of guys like Tai, Fleming and Young next week, but I think it will be much more of a running and controlling the clock kind of game. Overall, there were a lot of questions coming into the season, and there are still plenty of questions, but a ton of potential too. D needs to step up and be prepared for Gilman next weekend. The kid is a monster! (Still bummed we couldn't land him). Let's turn around the program's woes on the road. Boys showed they could ball in Manhattan, let's get it some in Missoula!

I want to see a new QB in the game by mid-3rd quarter because we are playing with such a big lead and because our staff now understands the importance of developing QB depth through game reps when they are available. (Obviously this applies to more than just QB)
-
😂 Now you're just looking for any reason to post this, aren't you? If they are in this scenario, I fully expect them put Simon in the game, to run the same play, with the same execution, with the same missed throw .... just for you!
-
No thanks. I like Bubba, but the guy couldn't run a successful football team and we want to hand him a whole department of athletics. Not interested. Give me someone with a little more background, potential and longevity.
-
Everyone seemed pumped about him when he committed, but I haven't heard anything about him since he got here. Maybe I'm missing something.
-
If KSU is going white, I'd say go all green. Or green Jersey, grey pants and grey helmet.
-
I tried looking earlier but couldn't find much. Was Noland highly recruited? Competing offers? Was this a guy people were excited about right away, or was he just "a guy" we landed, who is looking to be really good really early?
-
Yeah, I tried finding something with a google search ... checked two different boards and haven't seen anything for next weekend.
-
could you elaborate?
-
I think whichever team scores the most points on Saturday is going to win the game! 😆
-
Nah, I think we clearly want the same thing, but NDSU's success is in rare air. Even though that sucks to say. Would love to see UND do what NDSU and SDSU have done!
-
Agreed on all fronts ... the FCS landscape should make it possible for quicker turnarounds if the right guy in charges know how to put the pieces together. I think Schmidt is better equipped to do this compared to Bubba. He has been with bigger programs that know how to win and can bring some of that mentality. I also think that with that fresh mentality should come some more success on the road. That doesn't mean we are going to be winning at the Fargo Dome or The Dyke every year, but we should see more success in some of those games that we seem to lose that leave us scratching our heads. Youngstown, Indiana St, Illinois St., UNI, USD .... and yeah, it is time to get a win IN Fargo.
-
Only call out here, is you are also referencing 4 guys who are in the NFL. Whole heartedly agree with running the ball, but these guys also do way more than just handing it off.
-
Etienne Higgins looks like he is in his 30s! Probably mostly the beard, but it made me laugh.
-
... and I'm hoping it won't even take a few years! but realistically, it could to get the right pieces in place. There is not magical solution to flip the switch, or we would go back and have transitioned to D1 at the same time as SU. Monumental mistake by UND, but its over and done. Lets see what Schmitty can do!

Anyone know when the two deep will come out?
