Agreed, the administration needs to at least formulate a plans for When and If. The last thing the school would want to do is miss an opportunity like that. And as for the stadium, on campus football would really be a great thing. I have to believe it would bring alot more student support if the game was right there for them. Tailgating is pretty good in GF now, but if you put it on campus the atmosphere would be great.
-
As for the stadium issue, that won't be a problem either. Once I'm a billionaire (any day now), I play to donate a football stadium to match The Ralph. So at least UND has that to look forward to
-
Interesting to know some of the requirements. Certainly possible, eventually, but as you said it would definitely take some time. It would be alot of fun to see UND playing some bigger schools, or even making a bowl game. But at least we are playing some better FCS competition compared to the D2 opponents from a few years ago.
-
For those of you that have followed Aaron Dell's progress this year, he has been pretty stellar; not to mention showcasing some impressive boxing skills. Who knew? Where would UND be is Mr. Dell had decided to stay at UND. No doubt we have had some impressive showings from both Gothberg and Saunders, but neither had the experience that Aaron had compiled through his years at UND. I tend to believe that with that type of goaltending we would be running away with the conference. I definitely see us winning the majority of the 7 ties that we currently have. Thoughts??
-
So this would be far fetched considering UND only recently transitioned to the FCS level, but it seems fund to discuss. What are the thought on UND ever making the move up to the FBS level. I have always heard it is not "as big" of a transition as D2 to FCS is. Is this something UND could eventually see in the future. Our facilities for several sports are already competitive at that level, especially with the addition of the indoor practice facility. What conference could we potentially fit in to, if we ever made the move? Is this an eventual reality, or just a dream? Thoughts

Me too! Standing room only, but I'm looking forward to it.

It seem pretty clear that Penn State's interest in adding hockey was contingent upon a Big 10 hockey conference. They had not interest in joining in any other league. I have to agree that The Big 10 is primarily what is splitting up the current WCHA; had we not seen that conference alignment there would be no NCHC formed.

I believe there will be a webcast on AmericaOne though. I haven't confirmed that but heard it through one of these message boards

I always love that one

Hopefully they can finish strong going into the BST. Obviously winning the tourney would be a long shot with Montana and Weber St. but it is certainly possible. Montana is missing some high end talent, and if the Sioux stay healthy it only takes one or two top notch games to get the finish they need. Like I said its a long shot, but it would be a blast to see these guys make it to the NCAA tourney. Go Sioux!

make that "exceptional" rivalry
-
That is exactly how Wisconsin turned their program into what it is. Their club team beat the goofers, and created a pretty exception rivalry. I could handle eventually losing a game to NDSU in hockey, and the ridicule that goes with it to create another great rivalry. Though if it were to ever happen it would be years down the road. They have been pretty clear about having no interest in a D1 hockey program right now.
-
The nice thing for NDSU is that they could play in Scheels arena, at least for a while. But I believe they have made it quite clear that they will not pursue hockey, or they would have done it a few years back when Moorhead was trying to setup a team. As for a Pac 12 Conference, I would be all for that, I think there is definitely enough hockey interest up in the Northwest to put one together. It just comes down to startup costs for both Mens and Womens programs. I am definitely not a fan of splitting the WCHA to create the Big 10 conference, but since it is happening, we can only hope the Big 10 continues to add teams and grow the sport. What about Rutgers or Maryland? Arn't they joinging the B1G in other sports? Maybe they have some hockey interest?
-
I undestand that, and I can't believe they havn't improved that for a top college program. Anyway, my point was more towards that fact that a crappy broadcast is WAY better that no broadcast. Hopefully they figure something out.
-
My understanding is that the CBS deal is for the whole conference, so they will just select games from each week to broadcast. Outside of whatever game CBS is showing, contract language won't allow for other channels like Fox College Sports to pick up games. Meaning we may only see handfull of games throughout the entire season; as opposed to our current deal that broadcasts all home games. What the NCHC should have tried to do, w as workout a deal with FCS to have NCHC games broadcast on all three of their channels. Or setup a deal to let schools have their games broadcast through other networks, as long as they do not conflict with the CBS sports broadcast schedule. I could be wrong with some of this, but this has been my understanding on how the new conference and tv broadcast works.
-
Anything other than a potential tv deal would be disappointing for me. The game quality on Fox College Sports is pretty terrible, but it is so much better than not being able to watch it at all. They really need to find a way to allow schools to setup their own broadcast deals, in conjuction with the conference's current broadcast option. Even a webcast option like BigSky has would be better than nothing.

Hopefully one of these announcements finally live up to the hype, but I'm not going to get my hopes up.

On campus brewery? With Brewing as a new major?
-
What exactly is this 300 million going to go towards? A few specific projects? Research? Facilities? Does anyone know?
-
Now that is how I like to compromise
-
Anything less than 4 points is unnacceptable this weekend. I'm sure the boys won't dissappoint. I would love to see Tate get in goal too; similar to when Walski played against Bemidji State a few years back. I'm pretty sure he posted a shutout too, anyone remember?
-
Can you imagine how much more fun it would be to have football right there on campus for the students, right next to the dorms and the fraternities, with that huge parking lot for tailgating. It would really improve student turnout, as well as give even more of a good college atmosphere to the game. I guess we can dream...
-
If I ever happen to make billions, I will be certain to follow through on one of these "big announcements" with said stadium
-
Big Announcement: UND Alum to donate 100 million dollar football stadium to match the REA. Stadium will be places on campus where the old Ralph sits. Am I setting my expectations too high on this one?

Whether it was a joke or not, kids need to know where the line is; and that line seem to be dissappearing within society. There is just no excuse for this, and the kids should suffer some sort of reprecussions, probably a suspension. What they don't realize, is when this kind of image gets out, it reflects the individuals, the school, the team, the city, even the state. Pretty dissappointing show from the students; if I did something like this, I wouldn't be worried about any punishment from the school, but rather how my parent would handle it. Not good!
