  1. For how long? Any possibility of either of the other QBs returning?
  2. great minds think alike. I agree, I just think Cal Poly is better than their current record. Doesn't mean injuries won't be a factor at the end of the season for them either. If UND plays like they did against Wyo or even PSU, they could win any of these games. Play like we did against Drake in the 2nd half or ISU in the second half, and we could lose any of these games.
  3. Agreed, I though I mentioned that Roughriders would be versatile as well. Sundogs would be, but in a terrible way. All potential sundog options are just terrible. This shows the important of having logos before the vote. A logo could make or break almost any of these names. As for: "no clue but I'm sure we can come up with something". That doesn't mean they couldn't come up with something good.
  4. Weber and Northern Colorado are must win games. Montana and Montana St. - Need to win 1 if not both. Cal Poly - I just see us struggling here. Last week of the season, so who knows how banged up we are. Fortunately, we have a good run defense, but Cal-Poly always seems to have a tricky offense. Beat MT, Got Smoked my MT State, Almost beat E. Washington. They seem pretty unpredictable, but I'm hoping our playoff chances to come down the the very last week on the road (though that would make for a heck of a game).
  5. Maybe but wouldn't smoking not be PC? I mean there are kids at these event. On the other hand, we don't want to offend the smokers either. This is a dilemma, but not ours. Nodaks would be a pretty versatile name; you could do quite a bit with it. Same could be said about Roughriders, though I like the idea of a Teddy R. association.
  6. UND Nodaks, Fighting Nodaks, or just Nodaks doesn't sound so bad. Did you ever ask people if they were going to the North Dakota Fighting Sioux hockey game? or did you ask them if they were going to the Sioux game? Did you cheer "Go North Dakota Fighting Sioux!" from your seat? or did you cheer "Go Sioux!" You can make it try to sound ridiculous, but it does have to be. I was always in the camp of just remaining UND, and this seems to be the closest option, but it gives the school something they can still brand and tie a logo to. I'm really leaning towards Nodaks, and know several others who have moved their picks to this name. It almost seems like in the past there was some hesitation over this name because people didn't know if it was really even going to be in the mix. It has definitely picked up steam though. Roughriders wouldn't be terrible and I could live with Fighting Hawks (Boring)...
  7. I don't think Bartels made a good decision in throwing to Sanitago, but its also not like he has played much. The truth is if our D hadn't had such an epic collapse Bartels would never have been in that position. Ultimately there is enough blame to go around. The fumbles, our D, Bartels decision, but most Eversports and their terrible webcast.
  8. Surprised by how much steam Nodaks has picked up. I have been flip flopping between Nodaks and Roughriders, and am starting to lean Nodaks. Ultimately I just don't want sundogs. Would prefer not to see North Starts. I would accept Fighting Haws, but it is sooo boring. At least Nodaks and Roughriders have a regional connection.
  9. I think there was some questions as to why we through down field, into coverage, to our shortest receiver, who has played RB all season, when Luke Stanley was available as a shorter, high percentage pass. I think the confusion was why we went downfield with a minute left on the clock, rather that just trying to get the first down and move the chains. Easy to question after the fact. Maybe they though they would catch the defense off guard.Hindsight is 20/20

  11. Article on the Flyers first win.Love the below excerpt, describes Hak perfectly. Except they will learn that Hak does not get giddy. I could probably count on one hand how many times I saw that man smile in 10 years. With all the emotion of an FBI director, Hakstol emoted thus: "Winning's what we're here for." Wild man. He must have been a little bit giddy. For a team that declared itself playoff worthy, with a front office that pledged the team would not begin a third season in a hole, it was as must-win as a third game can be . . . even depleted. http://www.philly.com/philly/sports/flyers/20151013_Flyers_meeting_expectations_in_home_opener.html
  12. Just in case anyone else was having trouble receiving the email that was supposed to be sent yesterday, I did speak someone at the Alumni Association today. Apparently, I was marked on their Do Not Contact by Email list which explains why I didn't receive anything from UND. If anyone else did not receive the email yesterday this might be why. You can call the Alumni Assoc and they can make the change for you. They did let me know that while I did not receive the emails from UND, I would still receive the Qualtrics email that has yet to come out, with the specific voting link. Hope this helps anyone who was having a similar issue.
  13. Yes, at first I thought it was my computer, but it sounds like it was a widespread issues. The game started off running great. By the second quarter I was having buffering issues, and after the start of the 3rd quarter it was buffering every 5-10 seconds. I know it is a free webcast, but it is very unimpressive to put that kind of product out there. I don't know if it is UND or Eversports, but they need to figure it out.
  14. Not going to argue that our D couldn't have done more. But the interception was a horrific pass that never should have been thrown and the muffed punt was just unacceptable.
  15. or turnover lost the game
  16. Hard to hate on the Beavers. Back in college, we smoked them during a late afternoon game. I was at suite 49 giving a few Beaver fans a hard time (jokingly of course), they were actually pretty serious and say, "hey, we just appreciate you guys playing us". Made sense, as this was before they were in the WCHA. Pretty cool fans, and a program that really has a chance to do well in the WCHA. For as tough as they usually play UND, I feel like they always under achieve overall, but I would really like to see them do well. ..... just not this weekend.
  17. Actually its that LAND of 10,000 lakes. North Stars isn't a bad name, but its a former MN hockey team and doesn't makes sense for UND. Even so, there isn't enough support for it to win. Based on posted public opion I see the ranking as follows: Roughriders Fighting Hawks Nodaks North Stars Sundogs My personal opinion is as follows: Toss up between Roughriders and Nodaks. Fighting Hawks North Stars Sundogs
  18. Its not what your asking, its the arrogant way you are asking. Are the questions about Bubba? of course, but he deserves time to prove himself. I'm not sold on the offense... YET. Lets see if Studrud improves in the next year with his passing, lets see how some of our freshman receivers grow. Our RB core is young but shows a lot of promise. Lets see how Heidelbaugh looks at QB in a year or two. Programs don't completely turn around in 1-2 years. New coaches, new schemes, new recruiting.
  19. Maybe they liked what he had to say about what he would do as a head coach. Improved recruiting from a guy who knows the area. What did the candidate pool look like? Can't hire an amazing coach, with nothing but previous success, if he hasn't applied. I know many people like GF, but lets face it, its not like luring a guy to an beautiful, warm, coastal city either. Bottom line, there are many reason that UND may have moved the way that they did. If you want to criticize the hire, maybe you should wait to see what the guy has to offer in the next 2-3 years.
  20. Mussman? Is that you? Stop trolling the forums! jk Optimism comes from an uptick in recruiting. Optimism comes with an FBS win (even if it is against a crap program). Optimism comes from a 4-1 start. Optimism comes from the best defensive team we have had in years. Optimism comes from the most promising run game we have had in years. Does our team still have holes to fill and room to grow. Of course, just like most teams. Even if the optimism comes from an uptick in program interest, who cares? That is still a good thing. Where does all the negativity come from? If you don't like UND football, then go away? If you don't like UND, then go away? Are you the kind of fan who can only cheer for a program when they are at the top? All programs have ups and downs, this has been a long down. New coach, new recruiting, new mentality. Its only the second year of this regime and we have seen more than we ever saw from Muss. Lets give the coach his due time before being overly critical. If you want to critique, that is one thing ... senseless bashing is another.
  21. Has anyone else received their emails? I updated both mine and my wife information through the website, but have not received anything yet!
  22. Sure hope so. He certainly has the size if he can fill out.
  23. Interesting tidbit ... Kenny Golladay is leading University of Northern Illinois with 34 receptions for 529 yards and 3 TDs. No other receiver on that roster has exceeded 20 receptions or 200 yards. Could we please find another freak athlete like that? Please Bubba? Channel your inner Mussman, but only on this one thing!
  24. Agreed. And no we weren't supposed to make the playoffs, but we also weren't supposed to beat Wyoming and start 4-1. For recruiting purposes, I think the hot start is good as it shows we are trending in the right direction. The Idaho St loss is a step back in terms of program direction (good programs find a way to win, especially those types of games). That being said, we have plenty of opportunities to rebuild our momentum, it start with another road win, then taking on the MT schools. Playoffs are alive, but we just made it much harder on ourselves by blowing that game.
  25. Key questions: Clive would be a huge help to stretch the field. Though even if he is back, how effective will he be right away? I saw him walk by, when they were doing the Cieslak segment on the webcast (the part that actually worked), it looked like he still had a brace or cast on his hand. Hopefully this week, but based on comments made in the past, I have to imagine he'll be back by the MT game. Pure speculation. As for Keaton? he has shown most struggle in the passing game, with a few really nice passing plays sprinkled in. If his ankle doesn't allow him to be close to 100% and capable of making plays with his feet, then I don't want him out there. One, we need someone can at least make passes if they can't run (I lean mollberg, but thats just me). Two, I don't want to see Keaton aggravate anything then be out longer. Is he a top FCS QB, NO. Is he a capable QB? For sure. Needs to improve his pass game, but definitely a nice run threat. Reyes is huge, especially after our terrible safety play last weekend. He was questionable for Idaho State, so I would hope he is back next week. Then again, I don't want to see an further aggravation their either. Especially if we are playing a team that will try to run the ball, rather than pass heavy.
