I dont disagree with your assertion about new startup Big 10 hockey programs. That's the funny thing. That's not the short term or long term fix for THEIR current hockey problems. Even funnier is that they dont even seem to comprehend that. Revered Minnesota hockey guys like Lou Nanne and Brian Lawton have said as much publicly. You cant manufacture passion and tradition for a sport. It's organic and takes history and a certain culture and geography to become real. Nobody can tell me any of these projected startups will provide any solutions. Nobody will travel for hockey like UND does. Nobody will care about the rivalries like they do with UND. Not Nebraska, not Iowa, not ASU, not Rutgers. I guess I'm not debating what your saying isn't true, rather that the reasoning and logic is fatally flawed for the Big 10. The money grab doesnt fix their inherent problems. They would rather have tv markets than a good product that is well attended by passionate college hockey fans.
-
We are talking about college hockey....and fanbases.....and tradition....and rivalries.....and attendance.... The exact problems the BIG 10 has right now. UNO does nothing to fix that. Specifically relative to UND. It would be a terrible decision for the Big 10 to take UNO over UND. But I guess that's my opinion again.
-
I just think any financial investment/share by the Big 10 to UND for hockey would yield an ROI in spades back to them. BTW - what is the midco payment?
-
I think that's just one of the concessions that a smart AD in our position would ask for. Not equal share. Just a respectable amount. That would be incumbent upon any intelligent AD. If not, no deal. Maybe I'm giving our AD too much credit here and making outrageous assumptions?...
-
Honest to gawd, if UNO gets offered over UND I will have nothing to do but laugh at the Big 10 and their leadership. That would be completely irrational and make zero sense in my opinion. UNO should be the 5th option, not the first.
-
If this is about hockey and strengthening their weaknesses, the Big 10 should definitely call UND for an affiliate membership and we would be stupid not to take it. It makes a ton of sense for both sides. However, like others here are saying, I do not believe they have not reached out to UND, nor will they. As others here have also said, all signs point to ASU unfortunately.

All of this^^^^ And more efficient spring recruiting time for the staff.
-
The final sentence of the article: "Czerwiec is an associate professor of English at UND." That part absolutely shocked me.....
-
Agree 100%. I stopped listening and reading years ago. Dont give him what he wants.

Only thing missing from this program now is a good in-game manager and coach that teaches solid fundamentals and gets the most out of his players - makes them overachieve. These tight, end of the game results are always the same. Always have been. I am excited about the talent of this team next year. Just need someone to get the most out of it.
-
McFeely is a blowhard ndsu mouthpiece and wannabe shockjock. He's a total clickbait/ratings whore and always has been. I'm not sure why anyone is surprised. Professionalism is not his forte. Heitkamp is a weather vane. Nothing new to see here...just another day in the Fargo media.

Big Sky Semis: #1 Weber vs #5 UND (3/11 7:35)

Wish we had a better play at the end of regulation. Par for the course. Great effort by the players. Gotta make free throws and layups. Hooker is incredible. -
What an unfortunate discussion... Marijuana is illegal in North Dakota and these 2 kids broke the law and 'UND team conduct rules' and should be punished accordingly. I LOVE the concept of punishing teammates while the offenders get to watch. I believe it holds the entire team accountable and is motivation to stay out of trouble. This method has been used for quite some time. I think it's a reach to compare college team athletics to speeding tickets etc in everyday life. Like someone else posted, our military practices similar methods. 2 games wouldn't be too much and I suspect 1 will be the minimum. Hope these 2 learn from this. If not, they will be held accountable by Coach Schweigert and I fear what that result would be. Both kids have high ceilings.

Should at least start him there. If he just isn't working out for your team at LB, then try him at FB. Like everyone says, he can play special teams for you regardless. Start him out where hes comfortable first at the position where he's wowed everyone when they turn on the tape, then try the position hes never played.
-
Never played fullback in college. All of his amazing plays are at LB. I do not understand why they wouldnt take a flyer on him as a LB. That's the position he knows and is most comfortable at. Who cares if hes 5'-9.5". Can he play football? This is where scouts sometimes out-think themselves in my opinion. In any event, good luck Will. We are cheering for you.
-
All of this is plausible and I get this angle. However, he is essentially firing him by doing that. Nobody works into their final season on their contracts any more. That is very telling and a huge PR problem for the coach on the recruiting trail etc. Huge problem. Any coach worth his salt that has any pride in themselves would go elsewhere and get a different job if presented with this scenario by their AD. The proverbial writing is on the wall in this situation. But he won't/wouldn't because this is the best he can do in my estimation. Just a bad situation all-around. I believe there is more behind the scenes fallout than people might think from alums, fans, boosters and more. 10 years is an awfully large sample size, but we will see. Faison needs to show vision and leadership on this moving forward.
-
Of course he did. Bison Dick is a model of consistency. He's been trying to overcompensate for his inadequacies since wayyyy before that. SPS is formidable. Just ask him.

Check out the new Logo concepts by Gridiron Labs

I undertand what you are saying, and that's fine. But by definition, as discussed here in this thread, what is a "Thunderbird"? My opinion is that the cartoony logo doesn't change the meaning of the word. Still appears to be a double standard. Given the definition, I wonder if "Thunderbirds" would have been acceptable for UND as a nickname? I tend to think not, but I could be wrong. -

Big Sky Conference Member Southern Utah: Thunderbirds So I guess I don't get why some think that would be so offensive. (Not that I'm fighting for it) Seems to be yet another double standard. -

I believe this is incorrect. William & Mary changed their name from "Indians" to "Tribe" and then incorporated a feather for a logo, correct? -
So this is interesting. Very Interesting. Wonder if there are any other schools under that microscope right now?

I love the #leavenoboubt mantra for a motivational tool for next season. I remember after the 2000 season, the summer and winter workout manuals for the team had a photo in it of the scoreboard for the last game at Memorial Stadium against Augustana that read 35-23. Little reminders like that can do wonders for a hungry team.
-
Was UND playing the same type of football against ndsu, Montana, Weber, and Idaho State as they were the last 3 weeks of the season? No. They were playing their BEST football at the end of the season. ZERO questions asked. 2 totally different teams. That's part of the problem. Yes, we should have won another game so we could keep it out of the committee's hands. I agree. Bottom line: The committee's reasoning was ridiculous and we got screwed, yes. If that makes me a complainer months later, I'm ok with that. If we disagree, so be it.
-
Love the #leavenodoubt attitude. These guys are pissed off and motivated and should be. But lets not leave it in the hands of the committee that came up with the "quality loss" criteria. I am already jacked up for the team and the staff. Bring on spring ball in 24 days.
