  1. AARP stands for Association of Almost Retired Persons.
  2. I saw a note yesterday when I voted on the standings page that said something to the effect that they were aware of ballot stuffing. Doesn't bode well for the UAH and MTU crowd...
  3. Plante wouldn't have kicked her out. Plante rocks. I gave his son a campus tour. A good guy. Commutes every home weekend from out of town (I think Hillsboro)
  4. First off, let me tell you that children, at a young age, LEARN that losing is bad. From whom? Why, their parents of course! I've seen kids excited after a game they JUST LOST playing T-Ball because they got to play and they may have gotten a hit or two and ran the bases and caught a ball and just had fun only to skip over to their parents and have them say "That's nice but you still lost the game." Parents and school administrators and coaches and all who think that the important thing is to have fun and that it doesn't matter whether you win or lose are kidding themselves. The only people out there that truly don't care, at first, are the kids. I'm not saying that the adage of having fun and not caring about the win or loss is a stupid thing to push for. Far from it, but you can't tell a child one thing and then be upset because the outcome of the game didn't turn out like you wanted. Life doesn't work like that. Remember, folks, it doesn't just happen in T-ball. Somewhere out east a parent killed another parent at a hockey game because he felt that the son of the dead man checked his child in a dangerous manner. Instead of working out ways to make the less talented teams feeling better about having a chance to win their own little meaningless tournement (instead of competing in the tourny that, although they may lose lose badly in the first round, means it all), they should make the game fun; win or lose. The atmosphere should surround that instead of whether or not you are the best at anything.
  5. I think it should be R. Potulny. His game winner to beat the Huskies was clearly the goal of the year and therefore, by that alone, he deserves ROTY. And if you believe that, then we should be set for Jake Brandt to win the Hobey this year.
  6. I think, in the past 4 games at least, Smaby has REALLY turned things around. He is playing a lot better. He still has a ways to go and still gets beat sometimes, but he's really improved from even earlier this season. Fuher is on fire! Since Jones is still the best defensive dman this year (by a slim margin over Greene), I'd pair these two up on the first line for the first round. Then I'd have Greene and Schneider and finally Bina and Smaby on the 3rd line.
  7. Fan Appreciation Weekend.... what a joke. Did you know that the students were supposed to get free food during at least one of the games? I got this coupon for a free water, but it isn't valid at the Ralph. Wow! A free 68 -$1 worth of bottled water. Whoopee!!!!!! What crap. At least the chick said yes to that dude who proposed.
  8. No love for me, MNS? That's ok. Congrats on the press! And to all of those who are more creative than I (which is the grand majority here), good work!
  9. I thought it was cool, but in fact it was too little too late for this season. I was also impressed by the Breezer macot. So much so, that I was praying for him to come to Section 108. Last game of the season, probably my last game as a UND student in the lower bowl (I might get to a few games next fall)... it might have been worth while to rip its head off and throw it on the ice. My neighbor didn't like it much. But I thought it was a good idea that should have been implemented earlier in the season simply because it got the deacbeats in other parts of the arena to cheer. In other news: I'm happy Prpich was alright.
  10. I'm so proud of myself! Kupchella was standing right below me and I held my temper in check! I said nothing! Small personal victories. In any case, I'm not so sure it was the right thing to boo Kupchella, but I found it amusing anyways. The trumpet player was HILARIOUS! My neighbor thought it was just some obnoxious fan! He kept looking down there waiting for the guy to be kicked out of the arena. I thought he was awesome. Although the trip onto the glass surely had him playing the picollor trumpet, I'm sure.
  11. No offense, Wild fans, but if I were Brad, I'd go anywhere that would put their belief in me that I had a fighting chance. Roloson, the Caps, The Penguins, and the Hurricanes are the only 4 reasons the Wild aren't in the basement of the NHL this year. As for their division, don't care. Draft picks are something, but what is scary is all the high draft picks the Capitols have now. Drew, if you are out there, DON'T OPT IN. I'd hate to see any current Sioux players in a Caps or Penguins jersey. I feel bad for Schneider. Interestingly enough, the Rangers are trading away everyone too. Too bad they'll probably still squander everything in the off season. Sather needs to go. In fact, fire everyone from President all the way down to jock strap washer and start over again. Hire Quennville as Head Coach, the GM from Vancouver to be the Rangers GM, make Melrose an Assistant Coach ( so we can get rid of him on ESPN), and look 5 years down the road at getting back to the playoffs.
  12. I don't know. I had visions of John Scott roughing up Parise recently. It's something I do not want to see....
  13. It will be seniors night on Saturday. And if we win on Friday, we /might/ even see Ziggy in net! Though, that's my prediction. But PCM is probably right. Brandt Friday and Parise Saturday.
  14. If Thornton isn't on the ice, who's going to score on the pass?
  15. WTH? I SWORE I quoted the Sometimes G-D says "no" Deleted the post. Serves me right for logging on without my glasses.
  16. 109 Row E seats 3 and 4. Unless I was supposed to get 6 tickets, I got 3 on the house!
  17. We should tick off the Tech crowd by putting pictures of Conner and Murphy with large red OVER-RATED over them. Or how about: Tech Seniors: I hear McDonalds has openings Lame but it's my final shot at suggesting something.
  18. That puts you in prime territory for the lucky seat giveaways and the Moose is loose contests. It seems to be in 106, 118, 306,310, or 312 alot this year.
  19. The biggest thing to consider is that for both games our defense was unbelievable, which helped Brandt out... at least until the third period Saturday night.
  20. They may not be the best skaters but didn't they say that about Bochenski?
  21. Ok, having watched Sioux hockey and ND State hockey tourneys I got to wondering about goaltender masks. There are a lot of goaltender masks that are custom painted out there, including ones in high school (Bismark High's goaltender Ruud for example). I was wondering how they afford it? Does the school pay for it as part of a scholarship (as far as the masks seen in college are concerned)? Does the school booster program foot the bill (high school)? Or does the player/parents purchase the custom apparel? Anyone know how much, on average, mask painting costs?
  22. Isn't it obvious? They're going to go on a major city cleaning movement and the city of Duluth will never be cleaner! That or the person at the returns counter is going to be VEERRRRRY busy.
  23. I doubt JPar will be in the net tommorrow. For goodness sakes, Sioux, go to the hotel and get to bed! Rest up and find some more fuel for tommorrow. It's not going to be this easy tommorrow night.
