  1. Your logic is great except the fact that there are in fact 4 forwards coming. Oshie from Warroad is listed as 2004
  2. 6 players and 1 goalie. 3 leaving. Players in trouble of being released if no one leaves: Marvin Canady Foyt and maybe Massen However, is there any rule as to how many walk ons and non scholarship players you can have on a team?
  3. Stafford's goal was unbelievable! The people around me were delayed in cheering because some of them, quite literally, were gaping at the shot. Let's have it again tonight!
  4. Really? I could have swore that you took English classes at either Tech or perhaps JBSU?
  5. Oh. Nevermind then.
  6. I do too, but when a Sioux player is hit after the whistle, the Sioux player usually sits as well.
  7. Didn't Smaby come to Shattuck from S. St. Paul? If that were so, would be be listed under Shattuck or SSP? Smaby went to a St. Paul school is freshman and I believe sophomore years in high school.
  8. Hit Somebody is funny, but it wouldn't go over too well right now with the recent news about Bertuzzi.
  9. Agreed. We wouldn't be blanking the DU Pioneers if it weren't for Prpich's play. Remember the hattie? I'd say Canady or Massen. And I agree about sitting Prpich, it's best that he's at 100 percent against Minny.
  10. I'm in section 109 Row E seat 3, YaneA. Anything you drop by will be shown! I'm going to be there as close to 7pm tonight as I can!
  11. If Prpich doesn't play, what would Deano do? Would he play a defensive forward like Canady? Or would he play a potential scoring forward on the checking line like Massen? What about: 3rd line: Hale-McMahon-Fylling/Canady 4th Line: Palmo-Genoway-Massen/Fabian I honestly don't know what the strategy is behind playoff hockey other than to win
  12. The band needs time and a fostering atmosphere. They also need to be, IMO, a seperate entity from the Pride of the North Football band. They also need standards. The biggest problem with standards is that it will, again, take time. They cannot just start out with the standards we all want next year. No one would try out for the band. But they need to get higher and start demanding responsibility. They need to practice, get newer material, and do so with the FULL cooperation of the Ralph, not the half-a**ed version they are getting now. I say make them a seperate entity because, especially during the football season, they come into the arena with no "chops." They could be tired, or just not taking it seriously after all that intensive playing while moving. Eliminate that and it SHOULD improve. They need to practice in the Ralph. They need to go and listen to other hockey bands if they could (UW's would be nice). They may need to hold a battle of the bands thing at the Ralph (not going to happen, but it would be cool). They need to work out the mic system so that the brass and drums aren't mic'd and the other instruments are. And even if they don't install the band on a regular basis as far as playing time, there should be a guy who runs the piped in music who has better taste. The piped in music should only replace the band if the band doesn't want to play or in some coordinated manner and it also should try to coincide with what's going on in the game. FOr example, there is a song called "Get Over It" (I can't remember the name of the band who did it) that could be played if there is a break in the action and the opponent's players are complaining to the refs. There is a ton of things that can be done.
  13. Warroad loses in OT. Guess why? You got it, the guy who RAN THE GOALIE NO CALL gets a goal. A stupid stick slash gets called and Hardwick goes in the box. HOLY BS PP BATMAN! Wow folks. People are bummed in Warroad and I don't blame them. That ref better get the hell out of town fast.
  14. Not to be a Red Wings Homer, but Lidstrom is always at the top of Dmen scoring, true, but he's also a pretty darn good defensive player. No, he's not going to hit you into next week, but he's definitely a smart defensive player who excels at positioning, playing the rush, and penalty killing. Lidstrom is the best 2 way defenseman among all active NHL players, no offense to Leetch or Blake.
  15. Ballard is the best all around player the Gophers have among upper classmen. He isn't as strong defensively as Jonesy is, but he can definitely score. I think it would be cool for Ballard and JOnesy to be on the same d pairing when they make the NHL. I believe Jonesy is a bigger hitter and a little better at positioning on the defensive side of the puck.
  16. I agree completely! So Uof M people listen up! Since defensive ability isn't a requirement on INCH's defenseman of the year award, convert Vanek to a defenseman and you've got the award down solid!
  17. You said "junior high and up" I wasn't talking about kids that old. I was talking about T-ball and the 5 and 6 year olds. The young kids just starting out in organized sports. I wasn't talking about jr. high kids or even upper elementary kids. By the time they are that old, they already know winning is important and so on.
  18. I would be more than happy to hold up signs, but I won't be anywhere near the penalty box. My tickets for Friday night are in 109 row E seat 3. Saturday I'm all the way in 114 row B! I still like my job openings one. Another penalty box thing for Brown or Scott or whoever gets in there the most: I wonder if I can call on Martha to feng shui the sin bin?" <=Or anything using Martha Or "I'm in my happy place!" "Aunty <Coach's name>, I'm not in Houghton anymore!" Ok, lame, but oh well.
  19. I see your point, but I guess I define the position differently than most. I define the "enforcer" position as someone who is there because of his fighting ability. Ending this position means that, in order to crack the lineup, you must be worth something to the team in more than just a physical nature. Can you play good defense? Can you play smart hockey? Can you make the good outlet pass? Can you contribute offensively (if you are a forward). My post was misleading about Scott Parker, as David Hale only has 4 or 5 points this season and none of them are goals (though I haven't checked lately). However, he's doing ok defensively apart from just fighting. I don't want to see people who's only striking quality is fighting, like Scott Parker. Contribute in more than one way or let someone else come up from the minors to do it in his stead.
  20. Maine has solid goaltending but that's about it. BC pulled a gopher and just decided to throw the games vs Maine. They both didn't mean anything and all it would do is move them down one spot anyhow. If you ask me, Maine will make it to the frozen four if they get lucky and get solid goaltending. They will not make the NC game though. Especially if they have to play a team like UND or BC. Top Five teams in the NCAA: 1. UND 2. BC 3. UMD 4. Michigan (wht Montoya healthy. heard he got injured) 5. Maine Remember, Maine has a tendency to lose to unranked teams. All we need to win is to play like Providence does against them and we'll win. Perhaps like Northeastern too
  21. I don't know much about Crawford, but what I do understand is the Canucks GM (Burke is it?). He is a strong advocate for Bertuzzi. Why? Well, you see, during the Canuck-Red Wing series a while back it just so happened that Bertuzzi had a tenacity to run the goaltender. Well, he did it only 4 times IN ONE GAME. Bert manages to only get called twice (If my memory serves me correctly) and Burke goes on a press conference rampage about it. Sorry,m Burke, he should have been penalized 4 times instead of 2! In any case, Bertuzzi is a great defensive forward with some offensive talent and an ego the size of the Northern territories of Canada. Unfortunately for him, he ended his season, if not ended his career with Vancouver. And unfortunately for those who dislike the Canucks, Burke's GM career with Vancouver is apparently over as well come the end of the season (contract expires). Fighting has a place in hockey: sticking up for teammates or trying to fire up the team. However, I advocate for the end of the "enforcer" position in hockey. I don't like the Peter Worrells, the Donald Brashears, or the Scott Parkers (he's my least favorite of all of them) of the NHL. Little to no defensive or offensive qualities to them. They just go out on the ice and rough some guy up. I'd rather have a Vanek (all offensive might and absolutely nothing defensively) out on the ice than a guy whose only talent is thuggery. There is nothing wrong with being an accomplished fighter who can live up the other aspects of the game. For example, Scott Stevens knows how to throw it down but at the same time he is one of the top defensemen in the NHL in other areas. As some may not like Maltby and McCarty of the Red Wings are the same way. They can score and they can fight. Hatcher and Pronger can too. But Scott Parker MIGHT have 5 points his entire NHL career but a hell of a lot of majors. That's not a productive hockey player at all. As for NHL coaches: My favorite is retired (Scotty Bowman). But I like Tippett and Murray. Especially Murray, who is, if the Kings make the playoffs, slated to win NHL Coach of the Year for making the playoffs with half (exaggeration) of his team on the IR list for most of the season. Lammorello is the best GM in hockey. Hands down. Period.
  22. Section 8 plays at noon because it's a crazy division. Why else would a Section 8 be known as the discharge crazy people get from the military? M*A*S*H reference JAMIE FARR! Ok, I'm heading to bed.
  23. You discount one thing about Greene's reluctance to fight: Blais. Remember last season? He gets called for any minor and he skates to the locker room. This year Greene is a lot better, but by necessity. Greene is a feisty competitor. He does NOT want to be left out of ANYTHING. Therefore, he gives up his fighting to just take it out in big hits and breaking his stick across people's backs. He doesn't want Blais to keep him out of the lineup.
  24. I should add some coaches to the earlier post. It's not fair of me to put all the blame on the importance of winning on just the parents' shoulders.
  25. Well, from my perspective, Conner accounted for roughly 25 percent of MTU's offense this past weekend. The stupid thing is, Engelhart should be in Conner's place because he provided 50 percent of MTU's offense last weekend unless Conner's goal had two assists. Engelhart had a goal and an assist this weekend. Conner had a goal. Dora had the other assist. So, going by percentages, that's why Conner got a nomination.
