Saw it. He lost 2 teeth. Not a good night for him or the Devils. At times, they looked like the Sioux last Friday with bad passing and the complete inability to set up in the offensive zone. However, I saw 3 of Pittsburgh's 4 goals (Crosby's, Staal's, and Malkin's). Malkin's shot was unbelieveable. WOW. Staal's goal was simply leaving Staal open and abandoning Brodeur. Crosby's goal was simply a good play. Nevertheless, Lukowich decided to make a play at the puck while Malkin had it. Malkin just switched from backhand to forehand, juked to his forehand side, moved the puck around Brodeur to his backhand and buried it. The Devils need David Hale. If Hale were in Lukowich's spot Malkin would have been tasting the ice. Didn't see Gomez's goal, but Brylin's goal can be classified in one word: Fluke.

I thought a Poll was either someone who is originally from Polland or perhaps something used to perform a Poll Vault? PCM- Dude, those smileys rule!

Minnesota-Twin Cities football program
redwing77 replied to JESUS,family, rutgers's topic in Football
Because Mason is so incompetant that even his excuses lack professionalism. I mean... uniforms being distracting? Sports pages playing too big a role? Dude... this guy is so out of touch that there's no doubt as to why this team isn't getting anywhere. I mean, even Dennis Green's excuses make more sense! -
Waitaminute here. We go from "I can't believe that dork copied my cape idea!" to "I'm an innovator!" And, last I heard, people are still calling you a weirdo
-
Ha Ha. I don't know why it was so much easier than my other comments. It seems as though it never stopped people otherwise.

Wouldn't it have been hard to play the game without at least one puck on opening night?
-
Wow. I wonder how that hit compares to Kozek's decking of John Scott last year against the boards? I guess if only TJ had bounced off of Pepin and scored a goal, it would probably be more of a toss up.

crosby- I agree with you regarding Vandevelde. He did play well. Vandevelde is getting better and better with each game he plays, which poses an interesting condundrum. Chris started out really being slow and behind the game. Every game he plays he improves. So what do you do? Miller and Martens are already acclimated to the speed of the game. Bishop's playing style is making that transition swifter than Chris (even though the offense is about the same). Do you play the guys who are acclimated NOW and hope Chris develops later or do you make the attempt to help him develop by allowing him to play and taking the lumps early on (lumps being the penalties as he really hasn't caused any goals against). I think Chris has the potential to really be a thorn in the opposition's side in a facet of the game that the Sioux haven't really had. Sure, we have snipers, playmakers, and grinders, but do we have a big man whose strength is parking himself in front of the net and deflecting shots like Vandevelde could develop into? Vandevelde, IMO, has the potential to be ultimate garbage goal collector. It's already apparent that he's not going to be as fast as Watkins, Bishop, or even Genoway. He doesn't have the playmaking skills of Oshie, Toews, or Duncan. But he could be someone like Tomas Holmstrom (to cite a Red Wings player) when it comes to the offensive zone. I think that would REALLY add something to the Sioux offense. But everyone is right regarding the 3rd/4th lines. Every night we don't know who's going to suit up. We do have a lot of players who can play. I just think that Vandevelde's value is going to take some time to come out. He's not an impact player, especially for his freshman year thus far.

Sounds good to me!

That being the parachute pants or that being the rapping? My suggestion is we could use less of both!

This may sound stupid to some of you, but I didn't realize Duluth was that close to Minneapolis.

Yup. McLeod, in his infinite wisdom, thought that the reason why officiating lapsed enough so that the Paukovich thing could happen was that there wasn't enough supervision of the officials. Now, hold on, that idea in itself is a GOOD POINT. However, that point is only half remedied. Greg now observes and managers the officials on a full time basis. He doesn't do very well, but he's doing it full time. A good example of this would be like having Carrottop step in to be the Chief Operations Officer of Microsoft (or any really large corporation). Sure, you have a warm body in the position full time, but is it just a warm body or is it someone who knows what he's doing? Based on what people have said I won't argue that Greg can officiate a decent game. That's not the qualm I have with him. But being able to officiate a game and being able to manage officials are two very different things.

Did anyone hear Hakstol's post-game comments?
redwing77 replied to BostonSiouxFan's topic in Men's Hockey
Slap Shot, normally I'd agree with you on this, but you seem to lead the charge on the accusations that are being talked about here. On USCHO you are one of the first to state that we are blaming the losses on the officiating when it is not true. Like the Triouxper states, it is NOT at all bad to be dissatisfied with what the officials are bringing to the game. I was not satisfied with the performance of the officials and have not been for some time. There HAVE been well officiated games (UND vs UW earlier this season for example) but they are few and far between. That being said, I haven't read one post so far that states that we would have won if it weren't for the officials. We played like crap and we lost. I don't know what else to say! -
I'm impressed that this past weekend only saw one injury and how it happened was unclear. With Adam on the ice, I wouldn't have been too shocked to see, perhaps, a stretcher being pulled onto the ice.

Because there is more to running the WCHA than officiating? I can't claim to know what McLeod does in his job outside of overseeing Greg Shepherd and, by assumption, all others who work for the WCHA.

Eminem et al just suck more efficiently. They don't have as many "musicians" in the band That being said, I agree. I'll take '80s music over '90s and today R&B any time. mikejm- I don't doubt you saw about 80% of the more well-to-do mullett wearers though

That's the impression I got too (without going to GPL). On USCHO a few gopher fans are claiming we are blaming the loss on the refs. But hey, they watch our games all the time, right? I mean, that's why they come here so often to talk it up. Please, poor officiating was the call of the day on Friday, but the Sioux lost this game by themselves. The refs only poured salt in the wounds. -

I wonder what Dennis Green's comments were today. The Cards lost to perhaps the ONLY team capable of running the table without a win: The Oakland Raiders. Does anyone have Dennis Green's mailing address? I think we should all get together and send him a care package of items like: 1. As many Sunday edition Job Classified sections from different cities as we can assemble 2. If possible, the handbook Northwest Airlines sent to all their mechanics that were getting laid off (or whomever it was. The one that 'oks' dumpster diving) 3. An "I got everything I wanted including a new stadium but I still can't coach worth a SH*T" T-Shirt Size XXXXXL 4. A pair of fat pants with the text "Crown This!" written across the backside 5. Coffee Cup with "Home of the Calcutta Clipper" written on it. Any others? -
I don't agree. I think Mcleod and Shepherd need to be dismissed, but I don't think SHepherd runs the WCHA. I DO think that, regardless of what McLeod wants the WCHA to be like, he defers to Greg in ALL things officiating. If he sees something wrong with the officiating he may bring it up to Greg, but if Greg gives even the slightest most half arsed excuse for it, McLeod will accept it. Accountability goes all the way to the top and when that infamous hit went down, McLeod reacted by giving Shepherd a full time job instead of firing him. Whistler, if you want a higher profile relationship to compare to, think this: McLeod is to Shepherd as Ford is to Matt Millen. Both McLeod and Ford want the WCHA to succeed but neither realize just how incompetant the people are who surround him in the organization really are.

We all think that these losses are bad, no? Well, I'd hate to think what this week's practices are going to be like.

Heh, just to get you riled up, my Gradschool uses Peoplesoft for its academic purposes (Registering for classes, add/drop, finances, admission status, etc.) and it works fine. I just think the state saw ConnectND from Peoplesoft and jumped at the price rather than the quality (I have no doubt that the competitors probably cost more). Doesn't make much sense even so, but that's what my guess is.

See my earlier post and refer to item 1 as to standardizing consistency. Then look below #2 and you'll have why we'll never see it. My sig states the remedy.

Whether the injury does anything to him or not, it is widely considered that this will be the last season regardless that Toews wears a Sioux jersey

"Neutral Site Solution" to NCAA Nickname Ban?
redwing77 replied to fightingsioux4life's topic in Football
What about Northwestern's Ryan Field at Dyche Stadium? That stadium name has the same pronounciation that the NCAA should find hostile and abusive.... NOTE: I do know for a fact that it is called Ryan Field and that Dyche Stadium supposedly is the name of the stadium. For YEARS it was just called Ryan Field, but there was some sort of dispute and the college named it Ryan Field at Dyche Stadium... I do not know if they still call it that, maybe it was dropped. The media guide references both.
