  1. Police could kill blacks(justifiably and unjustifiably) at the current pace for the next 40 years and it won't equal the number of blacks unjustifiably killed by blacks in 2015.
  2. No real nice way to put it but Erich Longie is a fu(!ing idiot...always has been.
  3. And I don't believe he was there that night and had seen and heard the UND reaction.
  4. Who knows. Maybe Bird shirts will be the next big thing? http://www.themountain.com/cat-tees/
  5. Umm. cool cartoon and all but you are being a little disingenuos
  6. This was fantastic! From Tom Isern Come Wednesday the state board of higher education will have a special meeting to discuss contracts for university presidents. There are conspirators at work--a faction that is not forthright enough to operate in the open, but not clever enough to keep its intrigues secret. Its aim is to depose the competent and successful president of North Dakota State University, Dr. Dean Bresciani. This may be a puzzlement to those who pay attention to affairs at NDSU. All indicators of performance, for the institution and its president, are positive. Without doubt, the university is under sound management. A formal evaluation of President Bresciani by the chancellor earlier this month said so, conclusively. So what’s the beef? The beef is too much success. In the twenty-first century, NDSU has broken away from the pack. It has thrown off the colonial status that long characterized enterprises on the northern plains and has dared to compete nationally and internationally. The numbers are just too darn good. NDSU’s success has produced a classic case of the tall poppy syndrome. The tallest poppy has to be cut down. As soon as the current chancellor arrived on the scene, interested parties sought him out to tell him, you have to fire Bresciani. They are short poppies. They don’t like shade. They can’t come up with any reasons for their demands based on performance, and so they say, Bresciani is too big for his britches. He’s not a team player. Which is to say, he makes the rest of us look bad. There is, in fact, a lack of good team play in the university system. In the current round of budget cuts, NDSU is an island of calm. Under Bresciani’s leadership, NDSU made its financial adjustments years ago, situating it well to deal with the present exigency. Moreover, NDSU has made difficult decisions in a consultative manner, while going about other business effectively. This, it would seem, is all laudable, and should be held up as an example. Instead, the president is criticized for not inflicting unnecessary destruction and chaos. This is to say, he cares about the university, and tries to do what is best for it, rather than issuing inflammatory declamations and scoring political points. This is team play at its best. The Lord loves a good point guard. The conspirators, however, do not. They egg on the chancellor, they badger the board members. They say, you have to show you are strong, cut down that tall poppy. If they succeed, it will not be a show of strength. It will be a show of weakness. Strong leaders like strong leaders. They are not threatened by a tall poppy. Instead, they reach for the sun themselves. Pretty soon you have a whole garden full of tall poppies. And that, my friends, is how you build a great university system. I have heard he did this with no knee pads and didn't even come up for air!
  7. I was right then and today proves it even more. By the market prices we have drained on this I should probably charge a 500k consulting fee. Even amended it a couple times as they kept screwing the pooch all the way through the process. 8/21/15 How about we rewind, bring back about 7-8 names that were discarded back to the mix of crap that is left. Bring in some people and companies that deal with promoting and creating logos and brand marketing. Have them and the committee again narrow it down to 5 or 6.(include just North Dakota as an option.....I think after the next few steps it would fall out of the running) Have these marketing companies go back to their offices and have their teams put together some logo ideas and marketing concepts and create image branding campaigns. Put these best ideas together and then present these logos and concepts to the public.(the idea to pick just a name and then worry about the important stuff has to be one of the most incompetent plans ever put together by someone with more than a 9th grade education.) I think when people see the marketing plans and logos created that 'North Dakota" would likely fall in popularity. I know many on here like to group all those who are currently in favor of continuing to use "North Dakota" as "Sioux Forever" people. I and many others that favor using North Dakota as a name for now are doing so because it is the best choice of what is left at this point. This is where a Leader has to say we had a flawed and failed process and make the corrections vs. the awe, !@#$ it lets just ram it though June of 2015 Should have just had the committee formed, left out the wasted money on the consultants and brought in a few people locally with experience in the marketing business like UND alum Jason Loney of Scheels who has a little experience with Pro and College licensing and a couple key people from any of the following large regional companies whose job is to work with logos and designs like CI Apparel, S&S(Brad Ness is another alum), Lake Shirts, etc.(I left out a couple companies including mine). Narrow it down to 3 or 4 acceptable choices and have those companies go back to their marketing people and art staffs and come up with some concepts and ideas rather than pick a name and then say "welp lets see what we can come up with" They gather the info, discuss it and announce a name and explain why they chose that name and it's over. Now they are going to end up with a name that the majority of people do not want since they dangled out the possibility of going by the current status quo of being The University of North Dakota and that is the most popular choice among the people who truly matter. Absolute transparency isn't always the best thing when you involve the general public due to the 7 out of 10 rule. September of 2014 The fact that there doesn't seem to be anyone on the committee with a marketing background or experience in collegiate licensing is more than a little troubling. With companies in the area like Lake Shirts(Blue 84), CI Sport, Coaches Choice(in full disclosure, my employer and a big NDSU supporter), and even S&S Promotions. One would think they could find someone like a Rick Fletcher from CI whose company works with collegiate licenses all over the country and would have valuable input into what works and what doesn't from a marketing and logo standpoint, or a Brad Ness from S&S who currently have the Green and White clothing line and I believe is a UND alum, or my brother who was a collegiate buyer for Scheels for 10+ years and has worked with colleges and licenses all over the country for Coaches Choice and is also a UND grad or Jason Loney from Scheels who is also a UND grad would make sense. I was right then and I am right now. Keep the committee if you want, tell the consultant to go kick rocks.....this could be done in under a month since they don't have to start from square 1. Take a look at the original entrants and go from there. I would guess that more from the discarded list than the current list would make final 5.
  8. At the end of the day this doesn't affect my support for The University of North Dakota, but I will stick to "Sioux" and "UND" branded apparel and merchandise. Everyone else can do what they want.
  9. I had my tongue in cheek a while back when I said the new name would have a relatively short shelf life. Tongue is out of cheek. This cements that. We will be back to the drawing board in less than 10 years.
  10. Dakota Legacy Collection for the Sioux logo and DLC2 for the interlocking ND.
  11. What is a shame is that we spent a ton of money on forcing a new name and logo against the wishes of a vast majority and this is what we ended up with. It is an Average secondary logo at best. It will look alright on the shoulder of a jersey or even on a helmet but it is a huge fail as far as a logo that you could use on the front of a jersey...it is probably even very limited to what colors you will be able to put it on. Schafer should have went with a black or green T-shirt today....it looked like a blotch on the grey shirt.
  12. This logo will be lucky to make it to the shoulder of a hockey jersey.
  13. Loved that show. Watching Braden get run over every night by Buchanan like he was the Washington Generals did get old after awhile. Such an intellectual mismatch. Novak and Braden were pretty evenly matched and then Michael Kinsley came in......smart, arrogant, condescending...great TV. Kinsley and Buchanan shows were the high point I thought! Sununu....no bigger John Sununu fan than John Sununu. Bob Beckel and Tony Snow were great together too....both willing to concede points to the other and not demagogue everything.
  14. Arena was average. The city was fantastic!
  15. The password is changed periodically but the default is Blatz.
  16. #thursdayafternoonquarterback Looks like Ed and I are in agreement. I said they should have just come out with a name and logo and the reasoning and meaning behind it and been done with it.
  17. I am guessing Norman happened to Norman's?
  18. Might have to give this place another try. Went once and was completely unimpressed.
  19. Being the great hockey mind that I am, I picked the Kings to take out the Sharks and since you always have to have 1 upset I picked Detroit to upset Tampa since the Lightning were missing 5 or 6 key guys when the series started.
  20. If anyone is offended by this they are spending too much time looking for something to be offended by. Trump blew the joke though. It is Fauxcohontas Warren.
  21. I'll show myself out. http://awesomegifs.com/wp-content/uploads/guy-jumps-out-of-window-suddenly.gif
  22. Tough to beat Golf with Rob Stiles. Whole class hitting balls on the range. Stiles and Brad Kerr pull up in a couple carts. "Petey, Dana, do you guys have class this afternoon?"..... "Yes"....."Are you going?"...."Nope!" Let's just say this happened more than once and less than everyday of class.
