Students Spearhead Effort for Fighting Hawks Mascot
stoneySIOUX replied to ChrisUND1's topic in UND Nickname
Absolutely not to all three of these questions. 1) That logo is as equally as bad/generic. 2) Why would another version of a generic Hawk get rid of the idea of Sioux Forever? "Sioux Forever" is not about the logo being bad, it's about having the Sioux logo taken away. Had the new logo and/or name been better, the transition may have been easier and not taken as long, but "Sioux Forever" would have still been there. 3) No Sioux Forever fans want the logo anywhere, regardless of the sport. No need to clump it all on hockey. See point 2 for the answer why. All in all, what's your point? -

I think by releasing on Monday, they are probably trying to avoid this. -

Not that I didn't enjoy the rest of the post, but you could have stopped right there. I agree 1,000,000%

To me, this is the absolute root of the problem and is 100% justified in driving the narrative. I truly think the coaches expected one more year out of Jost. I think he would have single handedly gotten us into the tournament and this narrative could have very well not existed.
-
Don't get me wrong, I know this team needs to score more. But, I was just bummed with the narrative that our recruiting is down despite the best d-corps pipeline in the country.
-
As a Rangers fan, I'd be very happy on two levels.
-
Not sure I can classify Marchand as a goon simply because of how talented he is. Goons, to me, do nothing but fight and defend the top guys. How about "agitator" for Marchand?

I think Yon should be taking a step toward being able to contribute. Bowen had 10 as a freshman and missed significant time due to injury last year. IMO, he should be a fourth-line staple and be around the 15 mark. Maybe even 20. We need Hoff to be at 20 at a minimum, I think.
-
Hoff needs to be way more than a 10 point guy. This team needs him to step up. I'd be good with 10 points from Yon. Bowen should be a bit higher, too. Maybe 15ish.

Don't forget about a group of forwards that would backcheck the bejeebus out of teams... Schmaltz, Cag, Boeser, LJ, Rhett, Pogo....
-
Yeah, because I said that. Alright, man. Whateverrrr Anyway... LOL not sure why I said DU there, but I also hope their players don't develop, as well.

Also ZERO chance any kind of animal rights group lets this fly. Would be sweet, though. -
I'm assuming this is a swipe and UND, but I'm gonna skim over it and agree. YEAH! I definitely hope DU's players don't develop!
-
Whoops... no, actually I was thinking of the wrong person all together... I was thinking of Ian McCoshen and realized it about 2 minutes ago lol. That's two misses for me today. Yikes.
-
My bad, misread. However, DU has WAY more to replace than any other team in the country.
-
They missed the tournament this year, too.
-
I'd be surprised if there's anyone that replaces Joey Anderson's level of play this next season.

Good god, those are all so horrendous lol. -
Awesome stuff... great quotes. “And then his character, too. This kid is so humble … He’s a special person, both on and off the ice. I’ve talked to every NHL team about Jacob and a couple other players on our team, and they all say: ‘Well, what’s the negative? What’s the negative?’ I don’t know. There’s so much upside to this young man.” “I hope I leave an impression that I’m a guy that’s willing to do anything to win,” Bernard-Docker said. “I hope I’m leaving a mark that says I’m a competitive guy that’s willing to do anything for a teammate and willing to do anything for the team to win.” “The way he regiments his workouts, his nutrition, his practice habits … I don’t think it’s any secret why he’s such a good player, just by the way he approaches the game,” praised Oilers captain Carter Huber, who will also skate for the Fighting Hawks next season. “I mean, I’m 21 years old now and he’s the guy I’ll go up to after practice and look for some drills to help me out and things like that. His knowledge of the game and his passion is second-to-none. I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything like it before.” This is one my favorite.... Added Oilers head coach Tyler Deis: “There’s no magic story about Jacob. He’s just a perfect kid. He just works extremely hard, and he knows what he wants.”
