  1. Adams and Johnson sit, Smith and Kiersted in. Lines changed up as well. Think flipping Jones and Gardner in this lineup would be very beneficial.
  2. Even. Jones, Mismash, and Adams were -1. I think the lineup will be different than what I posted tonight anyway because I'm not sure Simonson is healthy. I'm also not sure who made the trip I know for sure TH mentioned Rieger and Smith as in the seats last night but I'd be surprised if Kiersted was healthy and didn't travel.
  3. For me it would be between Hoff, Yon, Janatuinen, and Kawaguchi right now for those last 2 forward spots and I'd go with Yon and Hoff. I know Kawaguchi is young and it is alright to struggle but the problem isn't just that he isn't scoring it's that he hasn't played real well in any area consistently. I thought he had some moments last weekend but it just seems too often right now where he isn't impacting the game at all. It is alright if you aren't scoring but you better bring it in other areas like the defensive zone, wall battles, forecheck, physical play, etc.
  4. I'd like to see Gersich-Jones-Mismash Smith-Gardner-Poganski Yon-Bowen-Adams Hoff-Simonson(when healthy)-Olson Wolanin-Poolman Shaw-Bast Kiersted-Peski
  5. I thought it was way worse than it was live but the replay showed it should have only been a cross check minor and it was a terrible call. The Gopher player did hold up and really didn't extend his arms. I know if it was the other way around and somebody on the Sioux got thrown out for a play like that I would have been absolutely livid with the call.
  6. Another solid performance from the Sioux tonight. Reffing was pretty suspect tonight. I thought the major call on Minnesota was pretty weak should've just been a crosscheck. Way too many times we have had a 5:00 powerplay turn into momentum for the other team so very happy to see the guys cash in on opportunity they were given.
  7. Disappointed with the loss but pretty well played game. Got caught in transition a couple times and both ended up in the back of the net. Really dominated at times impressed with the zone time and how good the guys were along the boards. Finishing has to get better and we have to do a better job of getting shots through Minnesota blocked a ton tonight. Looking to tomorrow I would like to see Kiersted get back in maybe for Johnson. I really liked Bast's game and it is hard to see him coming out if he can play like he did tonight every night. Nothing really against Johnson just think Kiersted gives you a little more and is a better skater which would be valuable against a team like Minnesota. Up front seemed like a couple guys struggled tonight with the speed of the game wouldn't be surprised to see Yon in for Janatuinen.
  8. Bast makes his debut
  9. Can always rely on UMC to give you some good content. I remember when this happened and how mad some older alumni in Crookston were but it kind of fit the Golden Eagles football team.
  10. JoeChristensen‏Verified account @JoeCStrib 3h3 hours ago Injured Sheehy, Reedy skated with the #Gophers today but Lucia said barring a change, he doesn’t expect either to play at North Dakota.
  11. Good to see a lot of different guys contribute. Time to get ready for the intensity and skill level to ramp up quick starting next weekend.
  12. Agreed thought he has looked pretty smooth and I wouldn't have said he was our 6th best defenseman in any of the games so far this year.
  13. I thought Kawaguchi would have a real nice game last night playing with Gersich but he really struggled. Really didn't notice him on the ice much if at all in the 3rd last night.
  14. Ugly game but a win is a win. Lot of stickwork and interference from St.Lawrence away from the play but with our powerplay right now it probably wouldn't have made much difference if they called them. If Yon and Simonson are both healthy I would think they will be in the lineup tomorrow night. Couple forwards who definitely need to pick it up and the most noticeable one to me that has to bring more is Kawaguchi. Mismash seemed to have a little jump in his step tonight and I liked the way he drove the net a couple different times. The Smith-Bowen-Olson line might have had the most consistently solid shifts of any line combo. Think the staff will continue to tinker with line combos and I wouldn't mind seeing Gersich paired with Adams and either Jones or Bowen.
  15. Looking at probable incoming recruits Gornall's departure probably means the staff will need to add at least 1 more commit for next year.
  16. No they were Gersich-Hoff-Poganski-Poolman-Peski and Adams-Gardner-Olson-Shaw-Wolanin last night and they alternated which unit started each powerplay. I thought the personnel would be a little different and eventually I think Mismash and maybe Kawaguchi and Jones could find their way onto one of the powerplay units.
  17. Watching the game it wasn't the typical shoot it into the goalies belly and chest and make him look good last night. The kid made some really nice saves but to me it was more about missing a couple open nets and passing up a couple of really good chances to shoot and making the extra pass and then not even getting a shot off. The powerplay was really passive and just didn't look like it flowed well at all. Was very surprised to see the 2 best chances on the powerplay come on setups from Olson.
  18. Guys played pretty well last night and dominated for stretches. Anchorage's goalie was outstanding but we also had a couple guys just plain miss with open nets. Really liked Kiersted on defense last night. Was really smooth and did a good job of picking his spots to get involved offensively. The Olson-Simonson-Bowen line played well together again and might have been our best line last night. Few lapses in the defensive zone but overall not too bad at all for the season opener. Need to do a better job of getting shots through tonight and probably put the puck on net a little more as it seemed like there were a few different times last night where guys just overpassed it and really passed up a good scoring chance.
  19. Definitely gonna be some tough decisions for the staff. I thought Janatuinen looked like a guy last night that could be in and out if he doesn't step up. He was the forward I thought struggled the most last night.
