Didn't get to watch either one this weekend but from following online it seemed like the guys played pretty well but the couldn't convert on opportunities again. That has to get better or no matter how well the guys play there will continue to be games like tonight where you drop one you shouldn't here and there.

Not near as crisp as last night but got the win. Really have to figure out a way to finish better we must've had at least 5 chances inside the circles this weekend with a wide open net and either whiffed, shot it back into the goalie, hit the post, or something else to prevent a goal. JBD really has a nice wrister and should definitely be on the top PP with Poolman going forward. Makes much better decisions than Bast on when to take the shot and gets more shots through.

Solid performance throughout the lineup tonight. Really showed the balanced depth that this team has when everyone is going. Scheel has really looked sharp his last 3 outings good to see him rewarded with the shutout. Really would like to see Hain consistently in the lineup so hopefully he can get over these nagging injuries pretty quickly.

Good win against a team that should win a lot of games. Thought the depth of the D showed tonight all 6 played pretty well. Kiersted was solid last year in his opportunities but he has taken another step forward this season and really solidified his position. Was nice to have Hain back really like his game. Yon has looked like a new player this year. Points might not be showing up yet but he is so much more impactful when he is on the ice compared to the past. I had seen Senden plenty in high school and Fargo and I expected him to fill a role but he has been even better than I expected. Looks a step or two quicker this season. The 5 on Mismash was a terrible call. Atmosphere looked really fun there but the boards/glass and ice seemed terrible. Ice almost made it feel like an outdoor game and had to really limit some of the playmaking opportunities.

Got the win against a pretty solid team and that is exactly what was needed no matter how it got done.

I'd trade some of Mankato's players for ours. Not the entire rosters. I'd trade at least one of our coaches to get one of Mankato's.

Was surprised Hain was out of the lineup but after watching the Berry mic'd up thing during intermission I'm thinking he might be hurt. He was in a white jersey while everyone else was green or black. Mankato has good speed and skill throughout and is very opportunistic. Good offensive team but can be taken advantage of in the D Zone at times. Too many defensive miscues from UND tonight. Thome struggled. Scheel came up with some big saves should be in net tomorrow. Better offensively tonight but should've finished with at least a couple more goals with the chances that were there. Powerplay looked alright at times. Much better movement than last weekend. Can't have that play from Gardner. Misses majority of game and hard to replace him. I knew Mankato would be a very solid team and that is one of the biggest reasons I was so disappointed with the way we started the season against Bemidji. It isn't that we can't beat Mankato or Minnesota but those were games I expected to be pretty tough and could be losses. The BSU games were 2 I thought had to be wins and we didn't even get a win out of the series.

A loss and a tie to open the season to say I'm very disappointed is probably an understatement. Not many positives at all to take from this weekend. Very ugly and bad hockey this weekend. Better get to work and get a lot better this week to get ready for a tougher test next weekend against Mankato. Going back to last season and missing the tournament we have heard a pretty consistent line about working harder, making the little plays, very little margin for error, etc. At some point the coaches and players need to just go out there and get the job done. Quit talking about how embarrassed, disappointed, and upset you are and go do something about it! Play with consistent energy, look like you have some sort of structure and special teams gameplan, have a sense of urgency, and play with a little excitement.

Not a good start to the season at all. After the disappointing season last year I would've thought we would see a team really come out with a ton of energy and urgency trying to make a statement in the season opener but instead we saw many of the same qualities that kept us out of the tournament last year.

Mismash

Definitely felt like an exhibition very little intensity or emotion from either team Powerplay has to be better than it was tonight Mismash looked a step quicker and I think he will have a big year. Poolman looked a little more aggressive offensively and I think he will have a big year. Thought Hain had the best game of the newcomers and really liked him with Yon and Bowen JBD is such a smooth player just seems like the game is in slow motion for him Thome and Scheel both looked good standing in the crease and moving around not sure either actually faced a legit shot It is for real next week every play will be magnified and could make the difference in the game.

Thief River Falls JR defenseman Evan Bushy committed to St. Cloud this last week. He said he also was receiving interest from Minnesota and North Dakota.

Not sure what the chances are but Gophers have an opening probably the season opener for that year. Already have a road game at North Carolina scheduled so it will definitely be another home game.

Yeah I thought they would've won more last year and probably should've found a way to beat Maryland and Purdue even with the injuries. Think there will be a lot of new faces seeing a lot of time but that doesn't mean they can't win and in most cases it is a good thing. Agree on the QB play being better even though neither guy has made a start. At minimum I think they will be bowl eligible this season.

Kid tweeted out an apology and said things were exaggerated and he has nothing but respect for Minnesota. Fleck says he isn't for everybody and that is alright but he is real. He has already produced some of the highest ranked recruiting classes Minnesota has seen. I would've liked to see him close on a few more of the top guys like Quinn Carroll and Bryce Benhart but as the wins come it will be easier to land those guys.

Maple Grove JR goaltender Ethan Haider committed to Clarkson today. I know there was plenty of interest from UND but not sure if there was an offer yet. I really would've liked to land him been a big fan of him since I saw him as a freshman and he reminded me a lot of Jake Oettinger when he was at Lakeville North.
