  1. Some guys that are already in college that I was pretty upset we didn't land when they committed. Not gonna list the guys that seemed really obvious Minnesota commits & had the connection. Riley Tufte Blaine>Duluth Joey Anderson Hill Murray>Duluth Jake Jaremko Elk River>Mankato Poehling brothers Lakeville North>St. Cloud Jake Wahlin White Bear Lake>St. Cloud Jake Randolph Duluth East>Omaha Dylan Malmquist Edina>Notre Dame Max Coatta Minnetonka>Mankato Guys that have committed but are still in high school or juniors that I would've liked at UND. Nate Warner St. Cloud Cathedral>St. Cloud Ben Helgeson Hill-Murray>Wisconsin Jake Braccini Buffalo>Minnesota Jack Jensen Eden Prairie>Minnesota Brock Faber Maple Grove>Notre Dame Nick Leiverman Eden Prairie>Notre Dame Michael Graham Eden Prairie>Notre Dame Shane Lavalle Chaska>Wisconsin Ryan Sandelin Hermantwon>Mankato Jackson Jutting Prior Lake>Colorado College Bobby Brink Minnetonka>Denver Blake Biondi Hermantown>Duluth Jackson & Noah Cates Stillwater>Duluth Luke Loheit Minnetonka>Duluth Zach Michaelis Elk River>Omaha Blaine Warnert Chaska>Omaha Micah Miller Grand Rapids>St. Cloud
  2. If Montgomery leaves and Brink opens his recruitment up I'd have to think Minnesota will be the likely landing spot and they could also have a new coach.
  3. If people aren't excited about Donovan then they haven't watched him very much this year. I'd compare him playing style wise to Austin Poganski. Ryder seems to have a little bit more skill and elusiveness but a lot of similarities. He has been great in all 3 zones everytime I've seen him this year and I'm really excited to see him go head to head with Sammy Walker and all the Edina talent tonight.
  4. Realistically the only team we should really have trouble recruiting against for top Minnesota players is Minnesota and I guess on certain kids you could argue Duluth. When you look at history/tradition, facilities, and location we should be landing more high end Minnesota guys than we currently are. Whether that is because our staff doesn't identify them quick enough or whether they just plain get beat out by another school really doesn't matter to me because all it means is you are missing out on a really talented kid.
  5. Just noticed that we only have 3 commits this year in Minnesota high school hockey which is absolutely crazy to me. Donovan with Duluth East and Frisch and Randklev with Moorhead. Seems like we have had a lot more than that most years and imo we should have a lot more than that. Ton of talent in Minnesota right now and it hopefully is the main recruiting focus for the staff and if not it needs to be. Watching Minnetonka right now and Brink(Denver) and Loheit(Duluth) look like a couple guys that would've looked real good at UND.
  6. 2 assists for Ryder Donovan in Duluth East's 5-0 quarterfinal win over STMA. He played really well and is definitely an all around player. Had a few other really good chances to score including a couple he created on the penalty kill. Should be a really good one tomorrow night with Duluth East and Edina.
  7. His skating improved a ton in his 2 years in the NAHL. I remember watching him at Red River and he had everything else but the skating was definitely a huge questionmark at the time but he put the work in and improved it at the junior level and it has paid off for him.
  8. Minnesota State Tournament gets started on Wednesday and as always there are some uncommitted players to watch. Some are players there has been quite a bit of buzz about and pretty likely to eventually be D1 guys while others are just leading scorers or guys who seem to have potential to break out. 9. Just never felt comfortable that we would win this game despite leading most of it and I think it was mostly because of how many chances we had to add to the lead and couldn't convert. 5 or 6 posts, a puck laying behind the goalie that could've been a tap in if not for a quick whistle, and a couple great chances with the goalie down and out. If I didn't watch the game I probably wouldn't believe we generated that many great chances. Played pretty well for most of the game, really just a terrible about 10 minutes in the 3rd period but that was enough to keep us from a win. Happy this team will get to host Omaha next weekend but definitely disappointed we were unable to get the win and that has been the feeling far too often this season hopefully that changes starting next weekend.
  10. I'm with you I was happy to see Olson react the way he did. I've thought that is something that has been missing this year at times. Even thinking back to a couple times where Cam and Thome had to take action into their own hands throwing punches at opposing players hacking at them after the whistle when in the past one of our defensemen would've had the guy buried in the ice already. I'm definitely not gonna be mad about guys sticking up for each other especially when I've thought it has been lacking at times this year.
  11. Some really good periods of play tonight but bottom line is they didn't get the result and especially right now that is all that matters. With the situation being what it is whether you play well or play like crap all that really matters right now is W or L and it was a L. The number of grade A opportunities tonight might've been the most this team has generated all year the problem is we are lucky if we finish on 1 of every 10 grad A chances.
  12. Duluth East wins 7AA with a 3-2 OT win over Andover. Donovan had the game tying goal with 1:12 left. Andover goalie was outstanding and kept them in it while Andover made the most of their offensive chances. Shots were 53-20 in favor of Duluth East.
  13. Was pretty shocked that Moorhead lost last night. I caught the 3rd period on the radio and it seemed like they were dominating but would have a little lapse and STMA converted on their limited opportunities. Kind of a disappointing year for Moorhead. Seemed like they were up and down all year and just couldn't find the consistency they played with for the 2nd half of the season and state tournament run last year also seemed like their goaltender struggled a little more this year. Donovan and Duluth East play Andover tonight. They looked really good Monday against Marshall as Donovan had a goal and assist in the 9-1 win.
  14. Yeah former Holy Family goalie Jared Moe committed to Minnesota a while back and I know he was someone the UND staff was following as well. I think they plan to have him come in for 19/20 and Haider would probably be a guy that would come in for 20/21 or even 21/22 as he is still a high school Sophomore.
  15. Wonder if he is a foreign exchange student looks like he has played in Finland previously. He made some huge saves. Probably would have liked a goal or 2 back but made some absolutely unbelievable saves too. That was a heck of game last night that had pretty much everything. I was really hoping Greenway would pull it off.
  16. He is an elite goalie and I believe he is the top priority goaltending wise right now I think all the major schools are after him.
  17. *McLaughlin and Miller and those 2 benefited just as much from playing with him as he did playing with them. I saw plenty of Hain last year but have only seen him against UND this year but I'd be surprised if he isn't a regular in the lineup next year. He is a skilled guy but does a lot of the dirty work as well.
  18. Very much agree with the plan to not tag Keenum and have to overpay him. Seems like more and more reports that there is mutual interest between the Vikings and Cousins but I still think that will depend on whether Cousins is looking for the most $$$ he can get or whether it is more important to find a contender.
  19. Definitely, gave up at least a few 2 on 1s trying to go around 3 guys tonight too. All around d zone play was terrible all weekend and we lost a ton of board battles. I questioned this teams toughness many times this weekend. We already knew it wasn't a real skilled team and now it isn't a real tough team so what style of team is this?
  20. Highly disappointing weekend. Don't care who is in and who is out, who is coaching, who is reffing, or where the games are at. A weekend and stretch like we are in now shouldn't happen for this program. This is unacceptable and coaches and players need to look in the mirror and ask themselves if they are doing everything they can to continue the tradition and reach the expectations of North Dakota hockey because I don't think there are many that could truly say they are. They need to step up right now be committed to living up to the expectations this program has or they shouldn't be a part of this program.
  21. This just can't happen Brad E. Schlossman‏ @SchlossmanGF Tonight was the fourth time in eight games that UND has given up a lead of two or more goals (UMD, DU, Omaha, Miami).
  22. Pathetic terrible effort against a very bad team. Mentality wise this might be the worst team I've seen at UND. Too worried about what fans are saying about you that when it is time to go out there and perform you can't get the job done. Does this team understand that their season is on the line in these games? You would think they would at least pretend to show a little effort and desperation. Miami is a team you should've put away early and got a business like win instead Miami controlled everything and even though somehow they were losing 3-0 at one point totally outplayed UND from the opening puck drop. The defensive effort and coverage was the worst I've seen in years. The guys looked absolutely clueless out there and running around the zone like a squirt team. As much as I want this team to make the NCAA tournament and continue the streak these guys don't deserve to. They can't sweep a team like Miami then they shouldn't be surprised when the season is over in a couple weeks and they're sitting on a coach watching the teams that can put it all together and play with energy, effort, focus, and execution.
  23. Cam Johnson was absolutely outstanding tonight. Kind of a ugly game at times the puck seemed to be bouncing all over the place. Thought the guys did a much better job in the neutral zone both offensively and defensively. Forced Omaha to dump it in a lot more and they aren't a team that really thrives playing that way. Had to have this one tonight and got it. Have to have both at Miami next weekend too no excuses.
