One huge mistake that everybody noticed and gave the game away. He made plenty more throughout the game and might've had his worst game of the season. UND should've just went with 5 defensemen for the 3rd and OT. I'd be pretty surprised if he plays today. If he does no way he should get a regular shift. -
NORTH DAKOTA vs. SCSU @ the X - FRIDAY GAMEDAY

Not much. He just hasn't been the same player since he was injured earlier in the season. He was very good early in the year and just hasn't seemed to skate quite as well and I wonder if it is still a little bit of an issue. -

He panics a lot. Shouldn't be on the ice especially in an OT game that you need to win if he can't be more composed than that. -
NORTH DAKOTA vs. SCSU @ the X - FRIDAY GAMEDAY

All 3 St. Cloud goals came after failed opportunities for UND to clear the zone. I've said for weeks I'm not at all comfortable with Rieger on the ice and would rather have Johnson in back there and another forward up front. Rieger is what he is a 8th/9th d-man that can play physical. He gets caught out of position for opportunities and isn't a good decision maker. The play in OT from him is just ridiculously weak though, decent pewee players are smart enough to not make that stupid play. If this one ultimately ends the streak that play fits with how the season was. Cam was great and gave us the chance we needed. -

If I was gonna overpay for someone it would be Cousins over Bradford and Keenum. Both Bradford and Keenum are gonna get right around $20 million a year and I don't think they're are worth anything near that. I like Bridgewater but with all the time he has missed it is hard to know if he is anything close to the player he was before. Hopefully he can win the job with the Jets and have a good year and cash in in the future.

Just throwing it out there but maybe they like Johnson better at forward and keep him there for good. Then if Wolanin leaves you have Shaw(SR), Poolman(JR), Peski(JR), Bast(SO), Kiersted(SO), Rieger(SO), Tychonick(FR), and Bernard-Docker(FR). Would certainly give you a very good battle for that 6th spot when everybody is healthy.

YES!!! This team hasn't got many bounces at all this year but got one at a huge time when we had to have it. Glad to see the guys overcome some adversity tonight I thought there were some questionable calls/no calls against UND. Not sure how there wasn't a cross check on Omaha's 2nd goal and Omaha definitely got away with a ton of holding and interference in the 2nd and 3rd periods.
-
Mark Senden has goals in each of his last 3 games for Fargo last nights was a shorthanded goal.
-
Good first step tonight. Still no room for error and gonna have to turn it up a little more tomorrow to finish off Omaha.
-
2 assists and +4 for Ryder Donovan in the 4-2 semifinal win for Duluth East. He and the Hounds will play for a state championship tomorrow night against either Minnetonka or Centennial.
-
2 goals 1 assist and +4 for Garrett Worth tonight in #3 Duluth East's 4-2 win over #2 Edina. His coach Mike Randolph basically said in the postgame press conference no idea why nobody has took a chance on Worth yet. I'm starting to feel the same way he is a pure scorer but he has done a lot of little things pretty well the last couple nights.

#4 Alexandria beat #1 Hermantown 6-1 in the semifinals and SR defenseman Jack Powell is having a heck of a state tournament. Hat trick today and has been excellent on both ends of the ice today and Wednesday against Thief River. Not sure where he will end up playing juniors but looks like a kid that has made a name for himself this week. Alexandria has some nice talent up front mostly JRs and Sophs good to see that part of Minnesota starting to produce better players and be more competitive.

Peski was bad last Friday but I'm much more comfortable with him in than I am with Rieger. I don't like Rieger's game near as much as some others here and it seems to be whatever pair he is on when he gets in the lineup always gives up at least one odd man rush. I actually thought he was much more effective when they used him at forward a few times earlier this year. My depth chart for the 6th defenseman tonight would be Peski, Johnson, and then Rieger.

Some guys that are already in college that I was pretty upset we didn't land when they committed. Not gonna list the guys that seemed really obvious Minnesota commits & had the connection. Riley Tufte Blaine>Duluth Joey Anderson Hill Murray>Duluth Jake Jaremko Elk River>Mankato Poehling brothers Lakeville North>St. Cloud Jake Wahlin White Bear Lake>St. Cloud Jake Randolph Duluth East>Omaha Dylan Malmquist Edina>Notre Dame Max Coatta Minnetonka>Mankato Guys that have committed but are still in high school or juniors that I would've liked at UND. Nate Warner St. Cloud Cathedral>St. Cloud Ben Helgeson Hill-Murray>Wisconsin Jake Braccini Buffalo>Minnesota Jack Jensen Eden Prairie>Minnesota Brock Faber Maple Grove>Notre Dame Nick Leiverman Eden Prairie>Notre Dame Michael Graham Eden Prairie>Notre Dame Shane Lavalle Chaska>Wisconsin Ryan Sandelin Hermantwon>Mankato Jackson Jutting Prior Lake>Colorado College Bobby Brink Minnetonka>Denver Blake Biondi Hermantown>Duluth Jackson & Noah Cates Stillwater>Duluth Luke Loheit Minnetonka>Duluth Zach Michaelis Elk River>Omaha Blaine Warnert Chaska>Omaha Micah Miller Grand Rapids>St. Cloud

If Montgomery leaves and Brink opens his recruitment up I'd have to think Minnesota will be the likely landing spot and they could also have a new coach.
-
If people aren't excited about Donovan then they haven't watched him very much this year. I'd compare him playing style wise to Austin Poganski. Ryder seems to have a little bit more skill and elusiveness but a lot of similarities. He has been great in all 3 zones everytime I've seen him this year and I'm really excited to see him go head to head with Sammy Walker and all the Edina talent tonight.
-
Realistically the only team we should really have trouble recruiting against for top Minnesota players is Minnesota and I guess on certain kids you could argue Duluth. When you look at history/tradition, facilities, and location we should be landing more high end Minnesota guys than we currently are. Whether that is because our staff doesn't identify them quick enough or whether they just plain get beat out by another school really doesn't matter to me because all it means is you are missing out on a really talented kid.
-
Just noticed that we only have 3 commits this year in Minnesota high school hockey which is absolutely crazy to me. Donovan with Duluth East and Frisch and Randklev with Moorhead. Seems like we have had a lot more than that most years and imo we should have a lot more than that. Ton of talent in Minnesota right now and it hopefully is the main recruiting focus for the staff and if not it needs to be. Watching Minnetonka right now and Brink(Denver) and Loheit(Duluth) look like a couple guys that would've looked real good at UND.
-
2 assists for Ryder Donovan in Duluth East's 5-0 quarterfinal win over STMA. He played really well and is definitely an all around player. Had a few other really good chances to score including a couple he created on the penalty kill. Should be a really good one tomorrow night with Duluth East and Edina.
-
His skating improved a ton in his 2 years in the NAHL. I remember watching him at Red River and he had everything else but the skating was definitely a huge questionmark at the time but he put the work in and improved it at the junior level and it has paid off for him.

Minnesota State Tournament gets started on Wednesday and as always there are some uncommitted players to watch. Some are players there has been quite a bit of buzz about and pretty likely to eventually be D1 guys while others are just leading scorers or guys who seem to have potential to break out. Just never felt comfortable that we would win this game despite leading most of it and I think it was mostly because of how many chances we had to add to the lead and couldn't convert. 5 or 6 posts, a puck laying behind the goalie that could've been a tap in if not for a quick whistle, and a couple great chances with the goalie down and out. If I didn't watch the game I probably wouldn't believe we generated that many great chances. Played pretty well for most of the game, really just a terrible about 10 minutes in the 3rd period but that was enough to keep us from a win. Happy this team will get to host Omaha next weekend but definitely disappointed we were unable to get the win and that has been the feeling far too often this season hopefully that changes starting next weekend.

I'm with you I was happy to see Olson react the way he did. I've thought that is something that has been missing this year at times. Even thinking back to a couple times where Cam and Thome had to take action into their own hands throwing punches at opposing players hacking at them after the whistle when in the past one of our defensemen would've had the guy buried in the ice already. I'm definitely not gonna be mad about guys sticking up for each other especially when I've thought it has been lacking at times this year.
