  1. I'd give Leddy a much better shot than Ballard, Ballard has really struggled and needs to get out of Vancouver and try to get back on track.
  2. Maybe DiPuma as well last I heard he was still enrolled in school, but it seems to be a big question as to whether he was still with the team or not. Does anyone else get the feeling Dell may be staying? The Kristo decison definitely doesn't hurt the chances.
  3. Great news that Kristo is coming back, he will be a leader and a proven go to guy. Looks like there should be a whole lot of talent around the WCHA next year. I think the whole Nelson situation was he probably had planned to come back and wanted to, but may have felt he just couldn't pass up the contract offer and might have felt that was the best offer he could get. I wish Brock was gonna be playing for the Sioux next year too and he was a bit of an unexpected departure, but a lot of people figured Kristo was gone and he has decided to come back so maybe that balances it out a little. In the end you're always gonna have guys who leave early and you wish they wouldn't but I just appreciate what they have contributed to the program and wish them the best of luck in the future.
  4. Can't see Ladue here next year unless Schmaltz bolts which I don't think will happen. If we do end up with Seth Jones there are going to be some very tough decisons every game night on which D-man sits.
  5. I don't know Oregons recruiting has improved since adding all the different uniform combinations, I know a few people who have factored jerseys in to their college decison and I'll admit I thought about jerseys when picking a school, although that was just part of the factor and not the overall decider.
  6. I believe the remaining WCHA and CCHA teams have agreed to form one conference together but have not decided on a name for the league.
  7. Good for Coach Hak, a great guy and great leader, we are lucky to have him at UND.
  8. No they woulldn't give anything away with the design when someone asked, just said the turf will go wider on the sidelines and would be much better for the players.
  9. Agreed he's right up there with Torres for me as some of my most hated NHL players.
  10. While this postseason has been a litlle bit of the bloodbath judging by the numbers the fans are enjoying it, playoff viewership is up by something like 30%, and the Pit/Philly game Sunday had something like a 50% viewership increase compared to last years game in that slot.
  11. I agree if this team is gonna work the kids are gonna be coming from outside the area which I believe is way more likely anyway, I think they will have to try to operate the way Shattuck does.
  12. I think your way off, northern Minnesota hockey gets way more exposure than the hockey down south around the Shattuck area, but yet many players stay with their high school team in that area instead of going to Shattuck, in the end kids that are good get found no matter where they play.
  13. I think you are overestimating how many kids would want to do this. There aren't a lot of Minnesota kids who are going to give up their high school hockey career and the chance to play in the State hockey tournament. If this was a team in the offseason then yeah sure, but during the high school season you will get very few talented Minnesota kids whether they are from the area or not, in fact you probably would get more kids from outside the area.
  14. I toured the Alerus for a class and we saw a sample of the new turf and I forget what he called it but the Fargodome got the exact same stuff and the guy said it is the best available, but he wouldn't say much about the design except for that it should extend farther on the sidelines. I think he said they will begin installing it after Grand Forks high school graduation.
  15. I'm sure they did, with what I have seen from his son I would guess he would go to Shattuck if Eades were to get the job. I was mainly just trying to find some more reasons for why he wouldn't take the job.
  16. I got the Hawks over the Pens as my cup pick, probably picked a little more with the heart than the head though.
  17. Another thing that could maybe influence Eades a little is I believe his son and daughter are both in high school and play varsity hockey at EGF maybe he doesn't want them to have to move and would rather let them finish here and than he could look for a head coaching job elsewhere when they are done with school.
  18. I really think Guentzel will stay at Minnesota, I'm sure him and Lucia have had some conversations about how much longer Lucia will be doing this. If I were to guess I'd say Lucia will only be Head Coach for maybe another couple seasons and then he will retire and become a full time hockey dad following Mario and Notre Dame hockey.
  19. Anyone else catch that the New York Rangers wanted Chris Krieder to quit on BC when they drafted him in 09 and instead head to the QMJHL. After finding out about this and the JT Miller situation I really hope none of our recruits are drafted by the Rangers. Wonder why the Rangers have so much against the NCAA, Stepan and McDonaugh have been very good for them.
  20. Not one of our recruits but I know we were talking about him during the Minnesota State High School tourney- Grant Besse will return to Benilde St. Margarets for his senior season. http://www.mnhockeyhub.com/news_article/show/143655 A good thing for high school hockey and love the quote from Besse "The thing that matters is just loyalty to the team. Before my freshman year I maybe wasn't as committed to the team, but after everything we've been through with Jack [Jablonski] and how close we've become, we're basically all brothers. I don't feel I could bring myself to let that go. I don't want to run off and play somewhere else and leave them hung out to dry."
  21. Really doubt that they were the only team interested in him from what I heard he had a spot on the development team if he wanted it, but didn't want to take that route. The main reason I'm so suprised he went to WHL is his dad is the Crookston coach who has been very vocal against players leaving early for the ushl and other leagues and hurting high school hockey. I thought he would play another year at Crookston with his brother and if he was gonna leave it would be after next season.
  22. This may be the biggest reason Brock Nelson ended up turning pro, Schlossman said it is one of the more lucrative contracts he has seen for a college signee.
  23. He is a huge prospect and he has cut his choices down to either UND or the WHL, he is supposed to be a for sure top 5 pick in the 2013 NHL draft.
  24. What I got out of it was kinda that he just doesn't care about school or whether he does the work, and I was told he was just plain stupid and not only when it came to schoolwork. I was in high school not too long ago and I would guess he was able to just get someone to do the work or compare answers with someone else on assignments and get by that way, I know thats what a lot of people at my high school did whether they were athletes or not, I mean I'm sure there were times where you get back from a game at midnight and you got homework due tomorrow morning and just say screw it and get the answers from someone before class.
  25. I found out some more information that may shed a little more light on Paul Bittner leaving for the WHL. A lot of players, parents, and fans are glad he's gone even though he was a good player and they wish his brother (will be SR D-man) and dad (Crookston head coach) were going with him. Sounds like a lot of team chemistry issues surronding him and the family not meshing with a lot of the players and some favoritism going on. I also found out Paul isn't a real big fan of school and has a fair of amount of trouble with schoolwork as a Freshman.
