  1. Yeah if you're an 8th grader playing a regular shift at a program like Hill-Murray you more than likely have a pretty good future ahead of you.
  2. The 7 that are locks are Indiana, Michigan, Michigan State, Wisconsin, Ohio State, Illinois, and Minnesota. There is a chance that with a couple B1G tournament wins Iowa could also work themselves into the tournament so you are right with probably 8 teams being the max that will get in unless a way under the radar team like Purdue, Nebraska, Northwestern, or Penn State somehow wins the B1G tournament.
  3. I thought it sounded like Crisfield would only come if we had someone leave early. This is Poolman's 1st year in the USHL and he also played a year in the NAHL and I thought it sounded like he would be coming in this season and that would leave us with 8 D for next season if we don't lose anyone as an early departure.
  4. I get the football argument and but I really don't believe the basketball argument to be true especially this year and even probably last season the B1G has been the best overall conference in baksetball and IMO is looking like it might stay that way for the next couple of years as well.
  5. Thats a good question. I like Slattery and also have liked Zach Lavalle a lot for a couple years now. I think he will be a good two way college player for somebody in the future. I was also pretty impressed with the 8th grader they had Anderson and think he will be one to keep an eye on in the coming years.
  6. STA may be one of the best teams regardless of class but if EGF gets good goaltending they can definitely play with them. EGF actually matches up pretty well with STA and I see a very close game between the two tomorrow afternoon and wouldn't be suprised to see EGF win. I am glad STA will be moving to AA but they should take a team like Breck with them. I know a lot of people hate the private schools regardless of class but I really don't mind them in AA. I actually like Hill-Murray(maybe because they are Sioux colors) and don't mind some others that play AA but I have no respect for a team like STA and Breck when they should have moved to AA years ago but their administrators dragged their feet until it was so obvious to everyone that they had no choice but to move up.
  7. A lot of people think St. Thomas could win the A or AA tourney this year, but I think if EGF gets some good goaltending a lot of people might be suprised. EGF has depth just like St. Thomas and doesn't rely on only a couple players like other teams. There defense is very good and they seem like they play such a disciplined style, I wouldn't be suprised if EGF pulled off the upset but a lot of people would. Duluth East and Moorhead game just finished with East winning 1-0. Forbort has some skill with the puck but didn't really stand out too much as East is a very deep team. Meirs Moore was very impressive and reminds me a lot of Nick Mattson and Joe Gleason, I would really like the Sioux to land him. Moorhead's goalie Jacob Dittmer was pretty impressive with 29 saves and absoolutely robbing East a couple times a lot like Bitzer against Eagan, he will be a guy to watch as he is only a Soph. this season.
  8. I believe he is Derek's brother, I plan to watch him tomorrow against Moorhead but he has produced well for East and they play a pretty tough schedule. I would guess he will at least have some type of opportunity with a junior team somewhere.
  9. Benson, Gronseth, and Koepke all had a goal and looked pretty good and really moved the puck well on the powerplay, not sure they are high end D1 guys but may have a shot. Probably will play juniors somewhere and see where they go from there. Zeleznikar was pretty good but will probably be headed to juniors next year, probably needs to improve the footwork but good vision and made a couple great passes. Flaherty really didn't stand out too much and didn't really look like a high end D1 guy in todays game.
  10. From the sound of it the official made a very weak and bad call on the hit and Gersich had played pretty well in that first game up to that point.

  12. Yeah someone else said it too, I didn't check the stat sheet I was just going off what the radio announcers had said for his teams goal.
  13. I think LaDue will be a staple in the lineup and will have a pretty nice year, also think Poolman could suprise some people and be in the lineup quite a bit. I also think Johnson,Tambellini, and Murphy have a good chance to be in pretty consistently as Freshmen and should provide some scoring punch.
  14. Minnesota may very well swep BSU but if we sweep Mankato we would still be tied and in terms of the cup I believe there are no tiebreakers and the cup would just be shared. If I remember right the tiebreakers only apply for the seeding purposes and not to determine a champion. Wisconsin needs to take at least 2pts from St.Cloud for anyone else to get a share of the cup.
  15. There is a huge difference between effort and execution and while the execution wasn't always sharp all weekend the effort was certainly there all weekend.
  16. Very much agreed you could see what this program means to these guys watching their faces during the video. The execution may have been sloopy at times but I don't see why some people are questioning guys effort level.
  17. Not a real impressive weekend of play from the guys but I will give Bemidji some credit for that. Kind of seemed like a average performance all weekend not bad but definitely not great. Disappointed with the tie tonight as we could have really put some pressure on St.Cloud for the McNaughton now might be tough to get the 2 seed as well with Minnesota heading to Bemidji while we get Mankato. Need a sweep next weekend and I know a lot of Sioux fans will become Bemidji State and Wisconsin fans for next weekend.
  18. They didn't say it on the radio but they may have missed it. Sounded like he was around the puck a lot and trying to make things happen but it just wasn't his teams night. Announcers talked about how Cathedral just didn't have it and didn't play their best and it is always tough for your season to end in a game where you know you could have played at a higher level.
  19. Rumor going around is this may have been his last high school game and he will be headed to the USHL or the development team next season. Being a former Minnesota high school player and now a fan I never like to see players leave their high school team but he may need to see some more competition as his team plays a decent schedule playing some pretty good schools but there are also a few below average teams that are on the schedule.
  20. Austin Poganski held without a point tonight as Hermantown ends his teams season 4-1.
  21. Not a real crisp game but glad to get out of it with a needed win. I would expect a better played game tomorrow from the guys in another game we need to have.
  22. Would guess we will see both goalies this weekend regardless of how well whoever starts tonight plays, maybe we even get a nice lead and can give Tate some cleanup time on Saturday night. The guys need to just play the type of game they are capable of and everything will be fine this weekend, I am expecting a big weekend from the Seniors and definitely think Kristo will finally get a goal past his dad's former team.
  23. Ageed I would rather not have a nickname because we will always be the SIOUX and that would really help keep the SIOUX name passed down through generations even if it isn't recognized by the NCAA. These guys really do a great job with through these doors and every week I can't wait to check out the next episode.
  24. Austin Poganski and his St. Cloud Cathedral team will play Hermantown at 7:00 tonight for a trip to the state tournament. The game is available to listen to online at http://www.mnsportsnetwork.com/index.php#msbnchannel1 and I plan to listen to it while watching the Sioux game.
  25. I heard a lot of good things about him throughout the year and judging by his point totals he produced most of the season, he is only a 10th grader so he could still grow some.
