  1. If you are making the decison who do you go with in goal tonight? Gothberg played pretty well last night and probably deserves another start, but it would be his first time starting back to back games at the college level. Saunders was decent in his last start and has probably been a little bit more consistent through the year. Are you sticking with the rotation or hoping you get the same performance from Zane as last night?
  2. Wish I was making the trip to Omaha but I'm not able to. I'm just gonna agree to disagree with you, the team does need to be a lot more consistent in their level of play but I still think we will get that. This team doesn't have the look right now of some of the very good teams of the past couple years but I think the potential is there. I think as a whole in college hockey this season there really aren't a lot of teams like that though. I mean even with the recent winless stretch we are still sitting in a tie for the 9th spot in the pairwise rankings and there aren't a whole lot of teams on that list that I would be dreading to play.
  3. Well are you gonna name these great teams that we can't compete with or what?
  4. I'm not sure you have, who are these other teams that are far superior to us? because I'm pretty sure we had the #1 team in the country beat on their home ice and let it slip away. IMO there is nobody in the country we can't play with when we play our best, which I still think we will start to see on a consistent basis down the stretch.
  5. Very much disagree with this, Drake hit him on the shoulder and the guy turned and made it look worst. That call was maybe a minor but definitely not a major. The MacMillan play was something that could be called but I have seen a lot worse things that haven't been called at that stage of the game.
  6. I believe the couple horrible calls were both made by Matt Ullwelling who I believe is from Warroad. I had him ref some games in high school and he was good at that level but he looked like he was in over his head tonight. Eaves stopping play constantly getting the officials to come to the bench needs to stop, give him a delay of game and it will happen a lot less. I thought Wisco had a more skilled team but there really aren't a lot of top end guys on that team I thought they really got away with a lot of things tonight like a lot of holding and stickwork as well as a few shots at Gothberg well after he had it covered. Wisco players also seemed to take a lot of dives and go after guys when they were already engaged with someone else. A lot there guys taking cheap shots and then when one of the Sioux players challenges them they back down and want nothing to do with actually dropping the gloves. The refs did lose control of this one tonight so I would expect a very tightly called game tomorrow night. It was a decent game but the bottom line is we need wins, guys have to capitilize on their chances and start to play with a little more desperation.
  7. Not suprised to see Gothberg again tonight, didn't think Saunders was really tested last Saturday and gave up 1 soft goal. Hak will stay with the rotation until one goalie clearly takes the job and runs with it.
  8. I thought they created some pretty good chances Saturday night and looked like they were starting to find that chemistry a little bit. They had a lot of offensive zone time Saturday and did a nice job cycling the puck as well. I think that line will create some chances tonight again and cash in on a few of them tonight. IMO that line should stay together and is a very dangerous 2nd line.
  9. Lineup notes: Wisconsin isn’t releasing its line chart until game time tonight, UND is responding by doing the same. The lines below are what I’m expecting them to be. Schlossman‏@SchlossmanGF Here's my best guess at tonight's lines. UW's Kevin Schulze is warming up and may be inserted. UND’s lines 7 Danny Kristo–10 Corban Knight–19 Rocco Grimaldi 16 Mark MacMillan–27 Carter Rowney–15 Michael Parks 8 Dan Senkbeil–28 Stephane Pattyn–11 Derek Rodwell 9 Drake Caggiula–17 Colten St. Clair–13 Connor Gaarder 2 Andrew MacWilliam–18 Dillon Simpson 4 Derek Forbort–24 Jordan Schmaltz 5 Nick Mattson–20 Joe Gleason 31 Zane Gothberg 35 Clarke Saunders 35 Tate Maris Wisconsin’s lines 16 Joseph LaBate–9 Mark Zengerle–25 Michael Mersch 17 Nic Kerdiles–14 Jefferson Dahl–7 Tyler Barnes 20 Ryan Little–21 Brendan Woods–18 Sean Little 26 Brad Navin–12 Keegan Meuer–8 Matt Pappe 19 Jake McCabe–27 Frankie Simonelli 22 Eddie Wittchow–55 John Ramage 5 Chase Drake–24 Joe Faust 30 Landon Peterson 33 Joel Rumpel
  10. Schlossman‏@SchlossmanGF Zane Gothberg and Landon Peterson starting in net tonight.
  11. Merrimack and Mass-Lowell are on FSN+ right now if anyone else is trying to pass time until the Sioux game starts.
  12. North Dakota MHockey‏@UNDMHockey Both games this weekend will be on FOX College Sports Central. Saturday's game is on DirecTV 626, but no DirecTV on Friday. #GoUND
  13. I think he is saying something about the news that Midco will be broadcasting the outdoor game at Omaha.
  14. I think there is a possibility of a couple JUCO recruits on the defensive side that really haven't been mentioned too much.
  15. If Holy Family was still in class A this year they would have a decent chance but with the move to AA they will have to pull a couple upsets probably to get out of 6AA which is almost always the toughest section in the state. Cathedral has a chance but will have to get past a Hermantown team who is very solid with a little bit of a question mark in net and also the only team they have lost to in section play in Princeton 4-3 who is 6-0-1 in the section, they have already beat Hermantown 5-4 in OT. Holy Family has only played 2 section games so far and split them and will probably end up around the #5 seed in their section.
  16. A much better effort and performance in allmost every area tonight except the goaltending was really the same. It hurts a lot to only get 1 point out of a performance like that and the feeling is about the same as last Saturday against Minny. I really liked the way the RPM line played as they really controlled a lot of the play when they were out there and I think they are very close to start putting the puck in the net consistently. I thought St.Clair might have had one of the best games he's played all year and Pattyn seemed to play pretty well tonight. Going forward we need to take advantage of the opportunities we create and finish off chances as well as games as there is not much room for error down the stretch.
  17. Neither were really noticable last night at all. I've been thinking Mitch would be scratched sometime soon if he doesn't show anything and he really didn't bring anything to the table in his opportunity. I was a little suprised about Rodwell just based off how good he was last weekend but he really didn't bring much energy last night either. Thought maybe Senkbeil would find himself out tonight but that line might be a decent fit for him.
  18. Ma. MacMillan-Rowney-Parks Kristo-Knight-Grimaldi Senkbeil-Pattyn-St. Clair Chyzyk-Gaarder-Caggiula MacWilliam-Simpson Forbort-Schmaltz Mattson-Gleason Saunders Gothberg Maris
  19. I'd like to see Mark Mac-Knight-Kristo Caggiula-Rowney-Grimaldi Chyzk-St.Clair-Parks Rodwell-Pattyn-Gaarder Mac-Mattson Forbort-Schmaltz Simpson-Gleason
  20. The one thing that really worries me some tonight is how well St.Cloud's powerplay moved the puck last night. I think we will come out much more intense and physical tonight and that could result in a few penalties and I really don't want to see that St.Cloud powerplay on the ice too much tonight.
  21. I think you are right but there still are some posters here who do actually think like that.
  22. I agree with pretty much everything you said great post. I'm also getting pretty sick of the Blais is God type posts and he could fix this team posts after every game we lose.
  23. I don't get the whole outcoached thing. If you have ever coached before you would know that there are times when there is really nothing you can do to get the players going. Can Hak draw up a play that suddenly makes the players play harder? There are just some times where there is nothing that works to get the team going. Yeah you can criticize the line combinations and things like that but Hak spends a lot more time with the players than any of us here do and he can see the way they are playing togethere throughout the week of practice. I trust in Hak to make the best decisons for this team and think some people need think about things a little more than strictly we lose fire the coach.
