  1. I don't think Ausmus is really a physical presence but more of a smooth skating and very positionally and fundamentally sound defenseman, he is about 6'1" 190lbs.
  2. I would say immediate impact would probably go to LaDue but if I was picking for the long term and factoring in potential I would pick Ausmus or Thompson.
  3. Ausmus is currently playing in Russia I believe as well so if he has come to the decison to attend UND already that could be one reason that it would not actually be announced for a couple weeks.
  4. I thought Stecher was coming in for sure next season but if that hasn't been decided yet and maybe he would play another year in juniors it certainly makes me think a little more that they may be trying to bring in Ausmus. Wouldn't be suprised to see someone like Sanderson, Senkbeil, or someone like that leave and I really wouldn't blame them for wanting a chance to see the ice some more. The 3rd goalie situation is kind of intriguing because you could opt for the guy who is basically gonna be a practice goalie for his career or with Saunders graduating next season you could bring a guy in who can compete for playing time right away and opt for more the practice goalie route the next season. Everything I have heard is that Ausmus will likely end up at UND or UMD, another couple guys who could be looking for a new place to play with the Ohio State firing are Zach Stepan who would be a great forward to pick up for next year although I don't know if we really have any room and the other guy is Jack Dougherety who is a few years away but a pretty good defenseman and I would guess a big reason he decided on Ohio State would have to do with Osiecki.
  5. From what I have read and heard Minnesota didn't want any of what they are calling secondary outdoor games and only really wanted an outdoor game if it is the Winter Classic so with Toronto and Detroit already having it for next season they decided to just wait for the 2015 Winter Classic and it really sounds like they expect to get it.
  6. It sounds like that was part of the reason Osiecki was fired, sounds like he thought the program needed updates and more to be more successful and the AD wasn't to swift on making that happen. If I was Gwoz I would be very cautious about taking the Ohio State job, remember this season they were kicked out of their own building by high school activities when they should have been hosting a playoff series there.
  7. Stepan would be very good if he opts to re-open, another one to watch is D Jack Dougherty (2014 or 2015?) of St.Thomas as I believe he was a recent OSU commit and I think he had already visited UND.
  8. A lot of times coaches will have guys they are actively recruiting fill this out so they can just store all their information from it easily, although anyone can really fill these out most of the time coaches only look at this for guys they have told to fill it out and guys they have been scouting before.
  9. Looks like another DU player is leaving early Chris Peters‏@chrismpeters19m Per @MChambersDP, Denver's Nick Shore is expected to sign with LA, forgoing his senior year as the post-Gwozdecky exodus continues.
  10. Very interested to see if this move leaves Gwoz as the favorite to take over at Maine.
  11. Schlossman‏@SchlossmanGF17m @UNDMHockey future tweet? RT @FargoForce: Sioux with another goal to extend their lead to five with a goal by Trevor Olson Looks like Olson is having a solid game in Fargo tonight, if anyone went and watched him a report on him would be great. Also to anyone who went to the game how did Avery Peterson look as he definitely could be a potential future Sioux recruit?
  12. I like the defensemen we have coming in but it sounds like they would be willing to make room for him if he decides he wants to go to UND and that would make me think if Ausmus decided to come here he would maybe be the best freshman defenseman we would have next season. With Minnesota potentially being in the mix I really don't think they are looking at him, I think they are satisfied with bringing in Bischoff or Vanelli, if they were to bring in Ausmus this late and bring him in ahead of them I would guess Bischoff and Vanelli would be pretty upset.
  13. I'd guess he is gonna pick between UND and UMD but there is just so much more opportunity to play and play a lot right away at Duluth and I would think that would end up being his choice, unless Gwoz gets hired for the Maine job and Ausmus decides to follow him to Maine.
  14. St. Cloud finally cashes in they are now 1-21 on scoring chances.
  15. I don't know if it really hints at Peterson already deciding against coming to UND but I do believe he has heavy interest from both Minnesota and Duluth. With Peterson going to be a high school senior next year I guess he could be a guy who could come in in 2014 but maybe would be more likely to be a guy who would come in in 2015 if he decides to stay at Grand Rapids for his senior year, if he decides to play in the USHL or something like that instead of his senior year then I would guess he would be looking to play college in 2014. I would really like to get Peterson to UND and I think he has a lot of the skill set that Brock Nelson had, one area I have heard he needs to work on though is improving his skating ability a little bit.
  16. This 1st period is a good example of how important goaltending is in these types of games. Hartzell makes some big saves for Qunnipiac and may have St. Cloud frustrated while Faragher has given up a goal on almost every chance Quinnipiac has had and now Quinnipiac is thinking throw it on net from everywhere because it is gonna create a chance.
  17. SCSU has looked pretty good in most spots except for maybe the most important position on the ice their goaltender.
  18. SCSU needs to pull Faragher! Qunnipiac has scored on every chance they've had and they've been pretty weak for the most part.
  19. Tough for the Huskies to be down 2-0 right now, I really think they have had the far better of the play but a lucky bounce for a weak goal on a somewhat weak penalty and a lucky bounce on to a guys stick with a wide open net.
  20. Haha yes I believe that was part of it as well.
  21. Anyone else catch what one of the SCSU guys said in the huddle around their goalie, sounded like "every team we've faced in the WCHA is better than these guys"
  22. I guess I'm kind of pulling for Lowell. I don't want to see Yale win it and I really don't want to see Quinnipiac win it for some reason either. I'm not sure how I feel about St.Cloud winning it because it would look better to have a team from the conference win it but then I think about how their fans would probably act if they win and that makes me think it would be fine to see them lose too.
  23. Someone also asked Schloss about who he would expect to come in this season and he answered with forwards: Wade Murphy, Adam Tambellini, Luke Johnson and defensemen: Paul LaDue, Keaton Thompson, and Troy Stecher. I would also assume we would pick up a goalie to bring in next fall sometime in the next few weeks.
  24. Makes more sense to bring him in 2014 when we could see some potential early departures from this next seasons junior class and also the fact we have pretty good depth at forward for next season already.
  25. Probably not as physical, not sure who I would compare him to maybe somwhat like a Rowney with a little better scoring touch. Looks like Olson and his team will be in Fargo for games on Friday at 7:30 and Saturday at 7:00 if anyone wants to get a look at him.
