  1. Should be pretty good some real nice prospects coming back and I believe they had a couple pretty good bantam and JV teams last year as well. I would expect that they would be the favorite in to get to state out of 8A again.
  2. Just read @UNDMHockey tweet that each team only had 2 shots on goal in the 3rd, pretty suprised by that because there still was a lot of action and some decent chances.
  3. Solid effort tonight from the Sioux and really liked the way the lineup was set and played. Zane was real solid and that was huge especially early on, but it wasn't one of those situations where he had to steal the game. Sioux created some real nice chances and missed the net on a couple of them, thought Tambo was gonna put away the one in the 3rd but he just missed the net but I really like his shot and think he has that natural goal scoring ability. St.Clair looked like he had what he wanted on the breakaway attempt but the puck rolled at the last second or I think he would have finished that one, seemed like there were a number of times were the puck was really rolling and tough to handle. Really when the Sioux got in trouble was when they stopped attacking for a while and were kind of standing around and Miami took advantage for that time in the 2nd. Really liked the way the refs called the game tonight especially after the way it was called last weekend although I think the 5 minute should've probably been a 2 but we have definitely been on the bad end of some of those calls before so it was good to be the beneficiary for once although we didn't do much with it. Hope for the sweep and the same type of effort from the Sioux tomorrow night!
  4. Disappointed with the result last night just because there were so many chances that the Sioux couldn't finish. OD has actually looked decent and may have a role on this years team. I would much rather see Rodwell or Chyzk over Mitch but wonder if Rodwell is hurt since we haven't seen him yet. Mark is too talented to have Mitch on his line and really kind of drag him down. Thompson really struggled on D and Mattson wasn't real great either. I thought Zane played pretty well and think he wishes he had another chance at both those goals. I think LaDue deflected the 1st goal and Zane would have had it without the deflection and still did get a glove on it. The 2nd goal I would be interested to see if Zane would have made the save without Johnson running into him as I think he probably would have made the save. Here is what I would like to see Friday night at Miami: Tambo-Caggiula-Rocco OD-Mark Mac.-Parks Murphy-Johnson-St.Clair Chyzk/Gaarder-Pattyn-Rodwell(if healthy) Simpson-Schmaltz Ausmus-Stecher Mattson/Thompson-LaDue Gothberg Saunders
  5. Pretty suprised to see Ausmus not in the lineup tonight thought he was one of the better D last night. Also thought Rodwell would get in for Mitch and play the energy role with his speed and physical style but hopefully the lineup Hak put together for tonight can get the job done again.
  6. Thought the reffing was horrible and made the game hard to watch at times. Couple guys that dressed last night that I wouldn't expect to see in the lineup tonight are Mitch and Panzerella. If Clarke can't play any better than he did last night he might have trouble even keeping the backup job, imo this will be Zanes job and should be. Lastly what will it take to get Midco to bring in a decent announcer, Hammer was horrible again!
  7. Always been impressed when I've watched Coatta at Minnetonka. He is a smaller player but is highly skilled and always seems to be around the puck and finding the net.
  8. My guess on initial lines Murphy-Ma. MacMillan-Grimaldi Caggiula-Tambellini-Parks O'Donnell-St.Clair-Johnson Gaarder-Pattyn-Rodwell Extra Mi.Mac-Chyzk-Sanderson D Simpson-LaDue Ausmus-Schmaltz Mattson-Stecher/Thompson Extra Panzerella-Stecher/Thompson G Gothberg Saunders Hrynkiw If OD plays like he has I could very easily see him on the bench again and Mi. MacMillan or Chyzk taking his spot and I think that is the biggest competition for a forward spot. It was tough for me to decide between Stecher and Thompson right now so I just listed them both and I think right away we could see one playing Friday and the other playing Saturday but I think it could eventually end up being that Mattson is the odd man out of the lineup if he struggles early like he did some last year and both Thompson and Stecher meet expectations.
  9. Not real suprised about the Senkbeil transfer news, really can't blame the guy for trying to find a better situation for playing time. Also I am probably in the minority but I like using the shootouts to break ties in the regular season and I would bet if you surveyed the teams most players would be in favor of it as well, I am just in the portion of people who can't stand a game ending in a tie.
  10. I'd be very suprised if he doesn't end up a Gopher. Butler, Creighton, and Xavier are the others he is really considering and a pretty small chance still left for Iowa State.
  11. I say stay with Chelsea Dagger and I like it as well, I really don't see it changing anytime in the near future unless the team were to request a change and I don't think that will happen.
  12. If you are talking about Ballard some Canuck fans I have talked too would definitely argue that. They put a lot of blame on Vigneault jerking Ballard around and never letting him settle into a role. They said for the first couple weeks of this season he and another player were their best pair of d-men but then Vigneault broke them up and both struggled for a while. They think the Wild got a steal in Ballard especially for the price and think he will play more like he did in Florida.
  13. No problem with it and kind of like the signing. I think he will fit well and he has been a different player than what many think the last couple of seasons. He will help the Wild and a lot of people will be suprised at the way he plays now compared to what a lot of people think he is based on past reputation.
  14. Wouldn't be suprised if Grimaldi leaves early even though I don't think he should. Also a possibility that MacMillan or Parks could but neither probably should unless they have a huge season this year. If you look at some guys who didn't play much last year and probably won't play much this year you gotta think that some could maybe look to transfer just to find playing time. Guys like Chyzk, Sanderson, Panzerella, and Senkbeil( last 2 may be less likely because they would only have 1 season left) could look to transfer as it looks like they will have a tough time getting on the ice. These things usually have a way of working themselves out and I trust Hak and the rest of the stuff have a good idea of what is going to happen.
  15. Ryan Gropp who visited last weekend has committed to the Sioux. Ryan Gropp‏@Gropper816m Committed to the University of North Dakota! Very excited for the opportunity #sioux Retweeted by Schlossman Schlossman‏@SchlossmanGF4m UND gets a commit from Ryan Gropp, arguably the top 1996-born player out of the BCHL.
  16. Ryan Gropp was recently at UND for a visit and would be another great get, looks like he and Wade Murphy are friends too which could maybe help. Wade Murphy‏@wmurphy937m Great to see my boy @Gropper8 here at North Dakota last night, kid is sorta a beauty #stallmate #mitts #swag Retweeted by Schlossman Schlossman‏@SchlossmanGF1m That means Ryan Gropp, believed to be the top '96 in the BCHL, visited UND this weekend.
  17. No reason really just thought each was a good fit where I slotted them, tried to have the first 2 lines be pretty balanced and thought Caggiula fit really well with MacMillan, also thought it would be a good opportunity for the couple freshmen who seem to be pretty good at putting the puck in the net to play with Rocco right away.
  18. I think I would like to see it start this way: Caggiula-Mark Mac.-Parks Grimaldi-Tambellini-Murphy O'Donnell-St.Clair-Johnson Gaarder-Pattyn-Rodwell Simpson-LaDue Thompson-Schmaltz Ausmus-Mattson Gothberg Saunders Hrynkiw Extras Chyzk-Mitch Mac.-Sanderson-Senkbeil Stecher-Panzarella I think the toughest decisons will be who plays that last D spot because I think it is going to be hard to keep Stecher out of the lineup too often and it is really gonna be tough for Hak to decide who plays on D each night. I think the toughest decison on the forwards would be that 3rd line wing spot and whether somebody can step up and take it or if it will be revolving between guys like Chyzk, Mitch Mac. and OD again.
  19. Avery Peterson of Grand Rapids was selected by the Minnesota Wild #167 overall and I believe he has already visited campus. The 2 players that I am hoping we can land right now are Peterson who is a bigger skilled forward and defenseman Jack Dougherty of St.Thomas Academy who was committed to Ohio State but decommitted after the coaching change.
  20. They didn't push Skjei to major junior last season and he ended up with the Gophers, I blame JT Miller more for that situation and think he may have just been kind of using us. I believe a lot of the incoming players are already on campus to for summer classes and I would be pretty suprised if Tambellini wasn't here when the season starts.
  21. Its hard to go wrong with taking any of Drouin, Jones, or Mackinnon but I would take Jones #1 and think in the future he will be the best player to come from this draft.
  22. Pretty good company for Toews to be in. Schlossman‏@SchlossmanGF59m Since 1913, two players have captained two Stanley Cup champs at age 25: Wayne Gretzky and Jonathan Toews.
