One of the easiest solutions to beating UNO by stacking at the blueline is actually dumping the puck to soft spots in the zone and then winning the races to the puck but there wasn't a whole lot of guys who brought enough intensity and energy Saturday night to win those races.

Don't really agree with the garbage goal statement. The first goal was a pretty easy shot for a college goalie to stop and Saunders got beat short side. The pucks that rolled past him slowly were from far enough out that he needs to make the saves. The only one that I really can't fault him too much is the deflection off Simpson and in.

Missed opportunity for some important points tonight. Not a real crisp game and not a lot of urgency from a lot of guys tonight. Again the powerplay looked awful. Though I think we should have been able to score more goals on the uno goalie Thompson 3 goals should have been enough tonight. I really don't think uno had all that many quality chances tonight and Saunders was just flat out really bad tonight. I hope Zane is healthy for next weekend and can get back in the net. IMO if he is in goal tonight we win this game.

Kind of a sloppy game but got the all important win. A lot of chances both ways that weren't cashed in on but I thought the Sioux definitely had the better and more consistent chances. PK was very good and got the crucial kill on the major which I thought should have just been a cross checking. Saunders definitely came up big a couple times but neither of the UNO goals were real great. Clean up the turnovers and hopefully a little more crisp game tomorrow night but no matter the type of game just gotta find a way to get the sweep tomorrow.

Also technically have Tambellinis spot to fill too. Olson, Schmaltz, and Simonson are definitely coming in at forward and then I believe Gersich is the only other possibility. Poolman is the only D coming in but if Schmaltz was to leave early it would be a possibility to bring in someone like Mantha although I don't see the need as there would already be 6 solid D and Panzerella could be pushed to D again if someone got injured.

Anybody notice the Wisconsin center on the faceoff at the end right after they had been called for a penalty just crosscheck and tackle the Gopher center to the ground? Wisco was lucky they didn't face a 6-on-3 to end the game as their center wasn't even looking for the drop of the puck and just went straight at the Gopher center.

Schloss had said in a weekly chat that the team had always planned on him playing juniors next year, I believe he is still only 18 right now so he does have junior eligibility left. I wouldn't be surprised if he never ends up playing here and the same goes for Rowe and Pelnik too.

Yon hasn't been drafted but did attend a camp this summer with Sioux Falls. I would expect his team to make the state tournament this season in AA but I'm unsure of whether a USHL team would be able to sign him to play after the high school season or not? I believe he was eligible to be drafted last year and was surprised he wasn't already drafted being a Senior already.

Love it, great player. I knew he had visited a couple times and I think he was just waiting for the offer and I'm real glad the staff pulled the trigger.
-
Agreed, with the progress he has made from this time last year to where he is at now you can definitely see the development but I would be surprised if he isn't back for one more year. I do think that he does wanna play another year with his brother and still needs to add more muscle. I also think it helps that he is a Blues pick and they have good depth and seem to be pretty patient with letting their prospects develop.
-
Would probably expect him for the 15-16 season along with Ausmus, LaDue, Stecher, Thompson, Poolman, and Mantha and maybe Pelnik if he ever ends up here. Could potentially have Schmaltz as a senior that year as well and that would be the only reason that I could see Chartrand not coming in that year although I highly doubt Schmaltz uses up all his college eligibility.

Very much disagree with this. That goal wasn't kicked in it was directed which is legal now and as soon as I saw it I knew it should be a goal. As for the net coming off during the shootout I don't know what should have happened but it looked like it went right under the post to me so shouldn't have been a goal. I know it will probably not be to popular of an opinion but I actually thought the Gophers got the bad end of the reffing with some of the calls and the announcers kept complimenting Michigan State and saying they should have the lead and I didn't see that at all and thought the Spartans were lucky to get to OT. I watched the game with my brother who is a Gopher fan and he kept getting annoyed the announcers kept acting like Wilcox was stealing the game and he wanted him pulled after the 2nd goal. I agreed Wilcox looked very shakey and pretty average but did come up with a big save in OT.

Parks accepted a PWO offer from Minnesota yesterday and as for Kocour he hasn't officially taken the PWO from Minnesota and the picture earlier in this thread is a picture every official visitor takes at Minnesota but I could definitely see him ending up there as Minnesota doesn't currently have any official DB commits and he could have a decent opportunity there although it is believed one recruit has given them a silent verbal.

That's why most people that I've seen have guessed he ends up at Wisconsin. I'm sure most of the other programs are trying to get him to consider playing another year of USHL but from what I've heard he has no interest in that right now but hopefully that can change if he keeps hearing from almost all these programs that they would want him to play another year in the USHL. It would make a lot of sense for him to play another year in the USHL since I believe this really should be his Senior in high school hockey but he left early.
-
Not sure if he has visited yet but it sounded like there were a number of schools involved. It sounds like he is looking for somewhere that he can come in and play right away next year and if that is the case then I would doubt he ends up at UND.

From listening to TH last night and not getting to see the game it sounded like Brittain came up big and Saunders gave up a couple he wished he could have had back but overall another pretty good performance from the team aside from the lack of finishing some chances.
-
Didn't get to see the game last night but listened to TH did Ausmus take a dumb penalty? TH said it was a horrible call and Ausmus didn't even have 2 hands on his stick when he got called for the cross-check and he also got stuck with a bad call on Friday night on Loney. I like that Ausmus brings more of a physical element to the d core but I am also fine with him and Thompson to continue rotating Friday/Saturdays.
-
You sure? it shows up on my guide for a 4pm start on FSN.

One of the better games this Sioux team has played so far this year. Lots of energy and execution, really liked the way the team crashed the net and was in Brittain's face all night. Saunders stepped in and played fine, I didn't really think he was tested too much but he made the saves he should have. Passes were crisp and on time and there definitely seemed to be a level of calmness when guys had the puck. I thought the Ausmus call was really bad at most it should have been a 2 but he got a 5 because Loney acted like he was dead only to recover enough to come back out on that same powerplay. Even though the PK gave up 2 goals I thought it looked real good and the 1 goal was just because of the bad bounce, the PP also looked a lot better than it has the past few weekends. Laleggia definitely is DU's best player and was really electric when he got the puck but I thought the D really did a nice job keeping him to the outside. Hopefully we see the same kind of effort tonight and can come away with another win and 1st place in the NCHC.

Jayson Hajdu @UNDSID 1m Hakstol said he won't be able to give a timeline on Gothberg for another week or two. Clarke Saunders starts for first time since Nov. 29. Schlossman @SchlossmanGF 3m UND will be without Gothberg, at minimum, for a couple weeks. He has started every game in UND's 9-game unbeaten streak.
-
Schlossman @SchlossmanGF 1m Gothberg out indefinitely w lower body injury Would guess that would mean at least this weekend. Saunders better step up or we will need to win the conference tourney to get in.

Philip Nelson leaving Minnesota football program
SiouxScore replied to UND-FB-FAN's topic in Football
Get what you are saying but they had a better season than the year before and ended up in the same bowl game. They should have probably been playing in the Gator Bowl against Georgia but got passed over for a Nebraska team that they had beat. There had to be a level of disappointment and letdown there and if you watched the game you could see right from the start the team looked very flat. -

About 30-35% of NHL players are former NCAA players might want to do a little research next time before you try to call NCAA hockey JV to the CHL/MJ's because they are pretty much on the same page except one can get paid and one can't. -
Yep I asked Schloss about him in the Herald chat and he said Yon has visited a couple times but no offer yet. I kinda wonder if Hak wants to see him against USHL competition before an offer but he is definitely a good player.
