  1. From listening to TH last night and not getting to see the game it sounded like Brittain came up big and Saunders gave up a couple he wished he could have had back but overall another pretty good performance from the team aside from the lack of finishing some chances.
  2. Didn't get to see the game last night but listened to TH did Ausmus take a dumb penalty? TH said it was a horrible call and Ausmus didn't even have 2 hands on his stick when he got called for the cross-check and he also got stuck with a bad call on Friday night on Loney. I like that Ausmus brings more of a physical element to the d core but I am also fine with him and Thompson to continue rotating Friday/Saturdays.
  3. You sure? it shows up on my guide for a 4pm start on FSN.
  4. One of the better games this Sioux team has played so far this year. Lots of energy and execution, really liked the way the team crashed the net and was in Brittain's face all night. Saunders stepped in and played fine, I didn't really think he was tested too much but he made the saves he should have. Passes were crisp and on time and there definitely seemed to be a level of calmness when guys had the puck. I thought the Ausmus call was really bad at most it should have been a 2 but he got a 5 because Loney acted like he was dead only to recover enough to come back out on that same powerplay. Even though the PK gave up 2 goals I thought it looked real good and the 1 goal was just because of the bad bounce, the PP also looked a lot better than it has the past few weekends. Laleggia definitely is DU's best player and was really electric when he got the puck but I thought the D really did a nice job keeping him to the outside. Hopefully we see the same kind of effort tonight and can come away with another win and 1st place in the NCHC.
  5. Jayson Hajdu ‏@UNDSID 1m Hakstol said he won't be able to give a timeline on Gothberg for another week or two. Clarke Saunders starts for first time since Nov. 29. Schlossman ‏@SchlossmanGF 3m UND will be without Gothberg, at minimum, for a couple weeks. He has started every game in UND's 9-game unbeaten streak.
  6. Schlossman ‏@SchlossmanGF 1m Gothberg out indefinitely w lower body injury Would guess that would mean at least this weekend. Saunders better step up or we will need to win the conference tourney to get in.
  7. Get what you are saying but they had a better season than the year before and ended up in the same bowl game. They should have probably been playing in the Gator Bowl against Georgia but got passed over for a Nebraska team that they had beat. There had to be a level of disappointment and letdown there and if you watched the game you could see right from the start the team looked very flat.
  8. About 30-35% of NHL players are former NCAA players might want to do a little research next time before you try to call NCAA hockey JV to the CHL/MJ's because they are pretty much on the same page except one can get paid and one can't.
  9. Yep I asked Schloss about him in the Herald chat and he said Yon has visited a couple times but no offer yet. I kinda wonder if Hak wants to see him against USHL competition before an offer but he is definitely a good player.
  10. Did have the Wisconsin offer out of high school but I believe he has said out of respect of the program and Kill he will look outside the Big Ten.
  11. Haha I remember that believe it was in Ottawa.
  12. Saw a couple tweets last night that Zane wasn't out for the starting lineups last night and I saw the reason why is his skate broke in pregame warmups and he had to use a brand new skate for the game. Never been a goalie but I have to imagine it would be pretty tough to adjust to that.
  13. Yeah that was one of their ugliest games of the year but knew there wouldn't be a whole lot of motivation for that bowl game and knew they would have trouble with it. They had been expecting to go to the Gator Bowl and really probably should have but got passed over for Nebraska even though they beat them head to head.
  14. A writer in one of the MSP papers mentioned Texas Tech and maybe UCLA as possibilities which would surprise me a little bit. Nelson said the day after he announced he was leaving that he had been in contact with 7 schools but wouldn't say who yet.
  15. Haha you NDSU fans really are delusional if you think Sioux hockey isn't the most popular sport in the state. I know plenty of NDSU football fans that are also Sioux hockey fans but not any that are the other way around. Ever have a school make a ticket policy specifically to try to keep your fans out of their building because it feels at best like a neutral site game? As for K-State beating Michigan and Michigan beating Minnesota you must have the missed the part earlier where we said Michigan was missing players including their starting QB and having to have a true freshman make his 1st start. You can argue all you want about how much better you guys think NDSU football is than Minnesota but the fact is NDSU football will never get to the level they are at and already have been at.
  16. Yet for some reason recruits continue to choose Minnesota over NDSU. I wonder why? Maybe because NDSU will never get to the level Minnesota is already at.
  17. Yeah haven't won a championship in a while but still by far the most popular and prestigious team in the state.
  18. More just happy for those guys but sure.
  19. Most Minnesota fans can't take NDSU seriously either. The Minnesota fanbase didn't attend the game well because it was the same bowl game as the year before and the team really deserved a better game and probably should have been playing in the Gator Bowl against Georgia. Minnesota is a program on the rise again right now.
  20. I use to keep up with football more in the D2 days when a couple guys from my hometown played and they both won national championships so I guess I did enjoy that yes but since the transition to D1 I haven't followed all that closely.
  21. Agreed there is a reason schools move from the FCS level to the FBS level and not the other way around.
  22. I'm a Sioux hockey fan and don't really care about UND football much.
  23. Probably would have been hard for the K-State game to have decent ratings on ESPN when the game was on Fox Sports 1 when it was brand new channel.
  24. Minnesota ran the ball fine against Michigan State so I'm pretty sure they would be fine against NDSU. Jensen would have been forced to throw because NDSU would have struggled to get much rushing.
