  1. EGF the much better team and really the only reason this is close is because of Orono's goalie. EGF is definitely the quicker and more physical team although Orono has got away with a lot of hooking, holding, and interference to help negate EGF's speed a little.
  2. He is a walk-on and I think doing what most expected he would be. If he wants to play he will probably need to look elsewhere but I would guess he knew the situation when he came in.
  3. No here is what they wore today:
  4. Even though Luverne lost 6-3 I was surprised with the level of play from them as it was much better than previous teams from that section. They definitely have some skilled guys, the 8th grader looks like he has a real nice future. Chisago Lakes is really struggling against New Prague who got a fortunate matchup. Chisago Lakes is fortunate to be here coming out of a weak section. Not sure what is up with their jerseys but they are horrible, not really sure what the logo on the front is supposed to be.
  5. Not sure if the tournament is earlier than normal but maybe. They went to top 5 a couple years ago and they really need to just go ahead and seed all 8.
  6. The 8th grader Jaxon Nelson was pretty good for Luverne and the commentators said the Gophers have already been looking at him. Overall Luverne surprised me a little bit and gave Hermantown a decent game 6-3.
  7. Looks like Saturday's game may not be available to some of us that usually get the game. Right now my guide shows summit league basketball on the main midco channel and I believe they are planning to put Sioux hockey on one of the alternate midco channels. The problem is I live in Minnesota and we only are offered the main midco channel so I have emailed midco in hopes that they will consider putting the summit league basketball on the alternate and Sioux hockey on the main channel but not sure if they will actually consider that or not.
  8. Or people didn't want to pay for the webcast or maybe their internet doesn't stream things well so they decided they would listen to the Sioux on the radio and wanted to watch a good NHL game at the same time I mean that seems pretty logical to me.
  9. I know in NW Minnesota we get it on some KCPM which really doesn't show anything else except for state tournaments every year and old movies and reruns of old shows.
  10. What channel is it put on? Is it a major network that makes you miss something big or some smaller network that nothing would be on anyway? I know a lot of people in ND who love that they get to see the best state tournament in the nation and one of the best sporting events to attend, haven't ever seen too many complaining about having it on.
  11. This isn't Duke and North Carolina or a major conference game this is NDSU and a hockey school Denver and it is nowhere close to the NHL level. I would hope they would show a NHL game over a small conference basketball game no matter the teams or if they are in the local region. NDSU should have been on that me tv thing like they have been for all their other games.
  12. Toews plays for the Blackhawks and played at UND that is a little bit of connection. Nick Leddy plays for the Hawks and is from Minnesota and I think the Penguins have a player or two from Northern Minnesota as well. This didn't just effect people in North Dakota, I live in Northwest Minnesota and there aren't very many people who care about NDSU basketball at all and would rather watch any kind of hockey. I have seen a lot of people from around this area very upset by it and saying they don't care about NDSU and this is Minnesota so why did they get stuck with the game.
  13. I thought it was funny when they tried to apologize and said they tried to get NBC to allow them to move the hockey game to me tv like that was actually a realistic possibility. They should of put the NDSU game on me tv like usual and I really don't know why they needed to stick with the Senior night stuff instead of go right to the hockey game. I did get a good laugh out of some of Saul's comments about a guy being a real NBA prospect and stuff like that though. This is at least the 2nd time I have contacted KVLY because of something like this and the other was them showing the NDSU pre-game football show instead of the Army All-American game.
  14. Edina may be the best team I've seen, although Wayzata was right on that same level too, and probably has the most talent and should probably be the favorite but they don't always play to their potential. Eden Prairie has a couple pretty good players but depth could be a question. Lakeville North has been a surprise to me and has beat some real good teams throughout the year and they have 3 brothers who have all committed to SCSU that are pretty good and a nice Freshman goalie. I think the East and Eagan came could be the best of any 1st round matchup in either class. I'm hoping for Roseau and the Sioux recruit Yon to pull off an upset and make a run but if I had to guess on a champions I would go with Edina.

  17. AA seeds are out: Thu #2 Lakeville North vs. Roseau-11:00 #3 Eden Prairie vs. Centennial-1:00 #1 Edina vs. Stillwater-6:00 #4 Duluth East vs. #5 Eagan-8:00 This one almost looks more like it was actually seeded 1-8 and only arguments I could see is North being #1 and Edina #2 although I think Edina is the better team and East being #3 and Eden Prairie #4 as East beat them head to head.
  18. Class A seeds are out: Wed #2 Hermantown vs. Luverne-11:00 #3 New Prague vs. Chisago Lakes-1:00 #1 East Grand Forks vs. Orono-6:00 #4 St.Cloud Cathedral vs. #5 Totino-Grace-8:00 Really need to seed all 8 teams imo. EGF gets a tougher team then they should have in the first round because only the top 5 are seeded. Think New Prague is the real winner today as they are lucky to be the #3 and I thin both SCC and TG are better teams and SCC beat them head to head and have played tougher schedules and then New Prague is lucky enough to get probably the worst team in the tournament in the 1st round in Chisago Lakes.
  19. Stillwater made it an all public school AA tourney with the win last night. My guess on seeds that should be out later this morning, to me the 5 seeds in both classes are really kind of toss ups. A-1.EGF 2.Hermantown 3.St.Cloud Cathedral 4.Totino Grace 5.Orono AA-1.Lakeville North 2.Edina 3.Duluth East 4.Eden Prairie 5.Eagan
  20. Another good performance from the team last night and a good win. Really thought the transition game was very good and we have a team playing with a lot of confidence right now. Think we have to limit St.Cloud from getting to the middle a little more on rushes and take away a little more time and space to get the sweep tonight.
  21. They only went 14-12-1 in his one season and Warroad wouldn't accept that mediocrity haha. I think there was a lot more pressure than he expected and a lot more than he wanted to deal with. I remember his son was supposed to be a real good player but turned out to be average at hockey and a better football player and I think I remember hearing some rumblings about his kid shouldn't be playing as much as he was and he shouldn't be playing with who he was. I think that job just ended up being too much for him and not sure he had the backing of a lot of Warroad people.
  22. They both probably have a shot at the #5 seed as that one isn't real clear but I think Orono will end up with it because of them beating Breck in the section championships. Interested to see Luverne seeing they are undefeated but they really haven't played anybody so kinda hard to get a read on them.
  23. I would think EGF should be the #1 seed but Hermantown does have a decent argument for that too. No matter who gets the #1 seed I would be pretty surprised if EGF and Hermantown aren't the 2 teams playing for the class A Championship. Right now my guess for seeds would be: 1.EGF 2.Hermantown 3.St.Cloud Cathedral 4.Totino Grace/Mahtomedi winner 5.Orono Teams not seeded- Chisago Lakes, Luverne, and New Prague While AA probably will be: 1.Lakeville North 2.Hill Murray(barring upset tonight) 3.Edina 4.Blaine(barring upset tonight) 5.Duluth East Teams not seeded- Eagan, Eden Prairie, and Roseau.
  24. Yeah they are a great defensive team and I thought they played real sloppy and tight tonight. Warroad's top line is very good and always seems to find a way to create breakaways with Roth flying the zone early and EGF got caught on that a few teams. EGF just seemed very tentative with the puck tonight and almost played not to lose at times which created a lot of missed passes and ugly breakouts. I also thought at times EGF looked to much for the perfect play which is something I haven't really seen from them all year and I think that caused some problems for them. Ausmus, Poolman, and Eades all could be future D1 defenseman and not too many high school teams have that.
  25. EGF beat Warroad 3-2 in 2 OT in the 8A title game. Sylvester looked better than the last time I saw him but still doubt we are after him and it sounds like Bemidji is after him. UMD has got a couple good ones in Bethune and Roth although I still think Roth will need to put on muscle and learn to play more in his d zone he has a ton of offensive skill and Bethune just is a real good all around player and will probably be one we wished we got. From EGF I thought Poolman and Bowen really stood out tonight and while EGF wasn't at there best they still showed flashes. Tweeten and the younger Loven are also a couple that I like but I think Tweeten needs to become a little better skater still but he has room to grow.
