I believe this Sioux team has won every game they've played this year when CBSSN has broadcast the game and they have the game tonight so hopefully that streak can continue.
-
Yeah didn't understand that either. I know goal differential is a tiebreaker but nobody gets eliminated during pool play and I doubt Norway will be in a spot where the tiebreaker will matter anyway. Take the chance try to cut the lead to one and give yourself a chance to really pull a surprise. As Herm Edwards said "You play to win the game" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W42iiCcFbxE

My hope is that Zane is ready for Friday night, don't know what the chances of that are but he did practice yesterday.

Pretty good opener from the whole U.S. team, still might like to see Parise and Brown switch lines sometime in the tournament. Seems like Russia could kind of turn it on when they needed to against Slovenia, should be a good test for the U.S. Saturday. I'm probably in the minority but I don't really mind the jerseys and like the jerseys Nike makes as a whole, the only part I really wish they would get rid of is the fake laces.

I believe there is at least one more younger brother who isn't at the high school level yet. Ausmus is definitely a skilled puck moving d-man but he will probably need to prove himself in juniors a couple years before the interest from schools really pick up kind of like Tucker Poolman had to out of high school.

I wonder how much other teams fans laugh about some of these comments in this thread and really this topic as a whole?

Canada beats USA 3-2 with a very controversial 2nd goal for Canada as the whistle had blown and then the puck went in and the ref reviewed it and decided to call it a goal. USA didn't look to be at there best but part of that was probably due to a lot of holding and interference that was allowed to go on which helped the Canadians slow the U.S. as well as the physical nature of the Canada team. Reffing wasn't a real strong point throughout the game as the calls were very inconsistent and only 1/3 on catching the Canadians with too many (wo)men on the ice.

I take it most if not all of this post was made in a sarcastic nature?

So to get back in the game we should have took stupid penalties and put Omaha on the powerplay and our coach should have got kicked out when there wasn't really anything to argue about because that would fire the team up? I really can't agree with these statements that you think should have been done. I agree it was a very poor effort but sometimes there isn't much a coach can do to get through to the players in that situation. I'm sure the message has been sent in practices this week that the effort was unacceptable and I'm sure the players knew that but having experienced college athletics both as an athlete and a coach, and I'm sure most who have been athletics really at any level would agree, it is very hard and rare to see a team just suddenly increase the effort during the game, usually it is either there right from the start of the game or its not and there isn't much that anyone is able to change that during the game.

Looks like the lines were switched up for todays practice and the only line that was the same was Pavelski's. Van Riemsdyk-Pavelski-Kessel Parise-Backes-Callahan Pacioretty-Kesler-Kane Brown-Statsny-Oshie Extras: Wheeler-Stepan Suter-Shattenkirk McDonagh-Carlson Orpik-Martin Fowler-Faulk

One of the easiest solutions to beating UNO by stacking at the blueline is actually dumping the puck to soft spots in the zone and then winning the races to the puck but there wasn't a whole lot of guys who brought enough intensity and energy Saturday night to win those races.

Don't really agree with the garbage goal statement. The first goal was a pretty easy shot for a college goalie to stop and Saunders got beat short side. The pucks that rolled past him slowly were from far enough out that he needs to make the saves. The only one that I really can't fault him too much is the deflection off Simpson and in.

Missed opportunity for some important points tonight. Not a real crisp game and not a lot of urgency from a lot of guys tonight. Again the powerplay looked awful. Though I think we should have been able to score more goals on the uno goalie Thompson 3 goals should have been enough tonight. I really don't think uno had all that many quality chances tonight and Saunders was just flat out really bad tonight. I hope Zane is healthy for next weekend and can get back in the net. IMO if he is in goal tonight we win this game.
-
Kind of a sloppy game but got the all important win. A lot of chances both ways that weren't cashed in on but I thought the Sioux definitely had the better and more consistent chances. PK was very good and got the crucial kill on the major which I thought should have just been a cross checking. Saunders definitely came up big a couple times but neither of the UNO goals were real great. Clean up the turnovers and hopefully a little more crisp game tomorrow night but no matter the type of game just gotta find a way to get the sweep tomorrow.

Also technically have Tambellinis spot to fill too. Olson, Schmaltz, and Simonson are definitely coming in at forward and then I believe Gersich is the only other possibility. Poolman is the only D coming in but if Schmaltz was to leave early it would be a possibility to bring in someone like Mantha although I don't see the need as there would already be 6 solid D and Panzerella could be pushed to D again if someone got injured.

Anybody notice the Wisconsin center on the faceoff at the end right after they had been called for a penalty just crosscheck and tackle the Gopher center to the ground? Wisco was lucky they didn't face a 6-on-3 to end the game as their center wasn't even looking for the drop of the puck and just went straight at the Gopher center.

Schloss had said in a weekly chat that the team had always planned on him playing juniors next year, I believe he is still only 18 right now so he does have junior eligibility left. I wouldn't be surprised if he never ends up playing here and the same goes for Rowe and Pelnik too.
-
Yon hasn't been drafted but did attend a camp this summer with Sioux Falls. I would expect his team to make the state tournament this season in AA but I'm unsure of whether a USHL team would be able to sign him to play after the high school season or not? I believe he was eligible to be drafted last year and was surprised he wasn't already drafted being a Senior already.
-
Love it, great player. I knew he had visited a couple times and I think he was just waiting for the offer and I'm real glad the staff pulled the trigger.
-
Agreed, with the progress he has made from this time last year to where he is at now you can definitely see the development but I would be surprised if he isn't back for one more year. I do think that he does wanna play another year with his brother and still needs to add more muscle. I also think it helps that he is a Blues pick and they have good depth and seem to be pretty patient with letting their prospects develop.
-
Would probably expect him for the 15-16 season along with Ausmus, LaDue, Stecher, Thompson, Poolman, and Mantha and maybe Pelnik if he ever ends up here. Could potentially have Schmaltz as a senior that year as well and that would be the only reason that I could see Chartrand not coming in that year although I highly doubt Schmaltz uses up all his college eligibility.

Very much disagree with this. That goal wasn't kicked in it was directed which is legal now and as soon as I saw it I knew it should be a goal. As for the net coming off during the shootout I don't know what should have happened but it looked like it went right under the post to me so shouldn't have been a goal. I know it will probably not be to popular of an opinion but I actually thought the Gophers got the bad end of the reffing with some of the calls and the announcers kept complimenting Michigan State and saying they should have the lead and I didn't see that at all and thought the Spartans were lucky to get to OT. I watched the game with my brother who is a Gopher fan and he kept getting annoyed the announcers kept acting like Wilcox was stealing the game and he wanted him pulled after the 2nd goal. I agreed Wilcox looked very shakey and pretty average but did come up with a big save in OT.

Parks accepted a PWO offer from Minnesota yesterday and as for Kocour he hasn't officially taken the PWO from Minnesota and the picture earlier in this thread is a picture every official visitor takes at Minnesota but I could definitely see him ending up there as Minnesota doesn't currently have any official DB commits and he could have a decent opportunity there although it is believed one recruit has given them a silent verbal.

That's why most people that I've seen have guessed he ends up at Wisconsin. I'm sure most of the other programs are trying to get him to consider playing another year of USHL but from what I've heard he has no interest in that right now but hopefully that can change if he keeps hearing from almost all these programs that they would want him to play another year in the USHL. It would make a lot of sense for him to play another year in the USHL since I believe this really should be his Senior in high school hockey but he left early.
-
Not sure if he has visited yet but it sounded like there were a number of schools involved. It sounds like he is looking for somewhere that he can come in and play right away next year and if that is the case then I would doubt he ends up at UND.
