  1. Care to enlighten the rest of us why he couldn't since everybody else including people close to the program were under that impression until he decided to bail for the CHL?
  2. Yes he would since he had a scholarship offer and had committed. Yeah there are a lot of hockey players who would like to be at certain schools and they're not but the reason for that is usually that they don't have an offer to that school. Whether Mantha thought there was a better option or not is up to him but if he really wanted to he could have been at UND for the 15-16 season.
  3. If he preferred to be at UND he would be at UND. Most knew when he said he would let whatever team drafted him decide his next step that it was just a convenient way for him to say he was going to the CHL. I agree with what others have already said and that is as soon as he was wavering on his commitment his scholarship offer shoulda been pulled and I wouldn't be surprised if it was.
  4. Darren Dreger @DarrenDreger · 21h Looks like Matt Greene is staying in LA. Work finishing up on a 4 year deal.
  5. From Gopherhole.com: Gophers vs. UND & USD? Unofficial, but saw a couple different reports that the Gophers will host both the UND Fighting Sioux (Big Sky) and the South Dakota 'Yotes (Summit League) as part of their 2014-15 schedule. UND has advanced to the Big Sky Tournament semifinals and finals, respectively, the last two seasons. South Dakota State, a regular on the Gophers schedule, also still a possibility. For now will add to Gophers' schedule, will do more digging for more confirmation.
  6. New roster is also up and the numbers for the freshmen are: #3 Poolman #8 Schmaltz #10 Simonson #11 Olson #14 Poganski #33 Johnson
  7. The class has been announced with no surprises, Johnson, Olson, Poganski, Poolman, Schmaltz, and Simonson will all be freshmen next season. http://www.undsports.com/ViewArticle.dbml?SPSID=58684&SPID=6405&DB_LANG=C&ATCLID=209529180&DB_OEM_ID=13500
  8. Roster to officially be released this afternoon. North Dakota MHockey ‏@UNDMHockey 2m In need of a June hockey fix? We will unveil our incoming freshman class later this morning and the complete 2014-15 roster this afternoon.
  9. I think we will see a similar Friday/Saturday rotation like we did this year with Thompson and Ausmus between Poolman and probably Ausmus while up front there should be a little more depth and hopefully guys pushing for playing time that we really didn't see a whole lot of this past season. Here is my early shot at some lines: Johnson-MacMillan-Parks Caggiula-Schmaltz-Poganski Pattyn-Gaarder-Olson OD/Chyz-Simonson-St.Clair Thompson-Schmaltz Mattson-LaDue Ausmus/Poolman-Stecher Ausmus/Poolman-OD/Chyz-Murphy-Panz-Sanderson
  10. BU gets a big time commit however this will probably be one of those cases where they shouldn't count on him until he actually steps foot on campus as there have been plenty of WHL rumors with Bellows. Kieffer Bellows ‏@BellowsKieffer 7m I am very excited and proud to announce my commitment to Boston University! Thank you to everybody who has helped me! #GoTerriers
  11. Schlossman @SchlossmanGF · 3h Tri City's camp roster essentially confirms what was anticipated: Austin Poganski coming to UND this year, Wilkie playing for the Storm.
  12. Haven't seen Gallant but definitely agree with you on both Bowen and Peterson. Have seen both a number of times over the past year and would love to see both continue their careers at UND.
  13. Even as good as Subban is the price that it would take to get him would not be worth it. The Wild could use another high end defenseman but I think they will target that in going after free agent Matt Niskanen. The other key issue to address this offseason for Fletcher is to sign the young guys to long term deals.
  14. Chris Dilks ‏@ChrisDilks 11m Chicago(USHL) '97 F Robby Jackson has committed to St. Cloud. USHL rookie of the year; huge pick-up for St. Cloud.
  15. Over The Boards ‏@OTBPuckWatch 6m 97 F Max Zimmer (Wayzata) commits to Wisconsin. Effective playmaker led 4th-ranked Trojans in scoring as a sophomore. Our #42 uncommitted. Very good highly skilled player that I really liked but kinda guessed he might end up at Wisconsin with one of his teammates already committed to them.
  16. Agreed LA hasn't been at its best yet and imo LA had a questionable call or two go against them in the OTs but they were still able to overcome that and get the win.
  17. When I watched him in the state tournament last year he had a power forward element but also had a good amount of skill. I know he isn't on the same level as Parks right now but that is kind of the type of player he has potential to be but maybe with a little more skill, I believe Mantha was supposed to come in next season but that is just by looking at how tough it would be for him to find ice time this season.
  18. That would be my guess as well.
  19. Seems to be different every year sometimes earlier and sometimes later. Last years class was released on May 17th and the year before was May 23rd.
  20. Don't recall if we ever heard anything definitive on whether Gersich was accelerating or not but could that be why they haven't announced the incoming recruits yet? Maybe waiting to see if Gersich will be able to come in this fall or not?
  21. I'd say McDonaugh, Girardi, and Staal are right up there with the top Chicago D but imo the depth of the Chicago D is better than the Rangers.
  22. Capgeek had Johnsson's NHL salary at $5.3, $4.8 cap hit and Barker's NHL salary at $6.0 over 2 years, $6.2 cap hit.
  23. Agree Leddy still needs to improve in his defensive zone to become a more consistent d-man but with the group the Wild threw out there this year he would have definitely been an upgrade over about half of them. The Heatley deal is probably the worst just because of the contract he had the last 2 years and how bad he was during most of that time. The Burns/Seto deal was actually pretty good for the Wild as they gave up Burns but got Seto, Coyle, and a 1st round pick that turned into prospect Zack Phillips, Fletcher also ended up getting a 2nd round pick from the Jets for Seto as well.
  24. Capgeek says $5.3 million but $4.85 for the salary cap hit, any idea on Barker's +/-? I don't think his offense was really his problem as much as how terrible he was in the d zone.
  25. Yes I know the trade and I as well as most Wild fans hated it when it happened. It was Kim Johnsson who was included and while his contract was bad he was off the books at the end of the year. Barker had already been a bust by the time the Wild got him and Leddy was a rising prospect at the time of the trade which left most Wild fans puzzled.
