I bag on them as much as the next person, especially because they literally are the kings of the quality losses, but so far this year they have a 4 point loss to the #6 team (who scored the go ahead TD with 19 seconds left) and a 1 point loss on the road to the #5 team (where their all-conference kicker shanked a 30 yard field goal with a few seconds left). They are likely going to be 5-2 headed into the season finale against NDSU, who hopefully is sitting on at least 2 losses as well to create what would effectively be a play-in game.

Watson isn't in the same class as Golladay. He's fast, especially for his size, but has trouble catching the ball. Plus he got dinged up on Saturday. Definitely can make plays and their best receiving threat but that won't be NDSU's ticket to winning. Miller appeared to like to bail quickly, but his legs will give Ndsu what they were missing the first few weeks. Holinka will need to make sure to spy him and also send all kinds of things he'll never have seen from different angles. Their line is beatable and UND will be able to get pressure.

I don't think anyone felt "good" about it going into the season. Frankly it was the biggest question mark. Schuster had 34 career attempts going into the season. I would guess Ndsu fans had more confidence in what they thought they had with Noland than UND fans did. We weren't even sure Tommy would be the starter.

No changes to the depth chart heading into week 4.
-
Ah, that makes more sense. Thanks.
-
What level has that happened at? They are usually pretty strict on who is allowed to play up and I've seen very little of it.

3 top 20 wins including 2 inside the top 10. Not a bad start to the season. Now don't let up.

LOL @ NDSU being #6 in Offensive Rating. I would guess their UCA game is still factored into that but still.

Just out of curiousity as someone who isn't in tune with this type of thing, what are the issues with it? The WCHA patch on the same jersey as the NCHC is a quite obvious large miscue but just curious what else I'm missing. I don't think they wore the blacks at the Frozen Four, is that part of it as well?

No change to the 2-deep this week.

Gee knows the playbook the best, has solid hands and is a good blocker while still being a running threat. That's why he's seeing the field. Its not like he's eating into carries that should be going somwhere else and the rotation is good for keeping everyone strong for the second half. Different skill sets are being used to keep the defense honest. Alot of the times Gee is in the backfield is when Skokna is running all kinds of motion around the formation. Carries through 2 games: Gee - 12 (8 and 4) plus 2 receptions Weah - 30 (13 and 17) plus 1 reception Skokna - 19 (9 and 10) plus 5 receptions

Thought the exact same thing when I saw the play. He let it go from the 45 and it went about 5 yards into the end zone, so roughly a 50 yard throw. Maybe he put a little extra loft in it, but it looked like a lot of effort for a throw that shouldn't have been that hard.

Wait, the same fans who said their back-ups would be a Top 10 FCS team are now saying they are struggling because they lost a few players early? Lack of depth is now the excuse at MooU? Ain't that some sh*t....

Looking at the participation report, here is the breakdown of the 57 players that are listed: Freshman/RFr - 17 Sophomore/RSo - 15 Junior/RJr - 11 Senior/RSr - 14 56% of contributors were underclassman including 1/3 of the total being freshman. That's definitely encouraging for the future.

Tough to argue that sentiment. The positive thing, is I don't think UND has played anywhere near a complete game. Still alot a of things to clean up, which is very encouraging looking long-term. The first 3 games in the comfortable confines of the Alerus Center sets up nice for the team. Now they have a tough game on a short week against a very solid opponent and then on the road for 3 in a row, including the defending champs who are going to be coming out swinging. Likely going to be a hiccup somewhere in there. There are going to be plenty of people ready to drop UND like a rock if/when they lose a game and say the first couple games were just luck.

Beat me to it. Hell of a win. Not a fan of these slow starts but the team keeps an even keel and battles back. Really hope the pollsters don't get the North Dakota teams confused this week....

It seems like more of a phrasing thing, as they consider all of the motion, jet sweep action, Vaughn QB packages, etc as "trick" plays. It is a pretty far cry from what I would call "gimmicky" but it does require the defense to be on the same page and communicate but the point of a lot of it is to create mismatches and cause the defense to show their hand. I agree that UND only ran one true "trick" play on the reverse flea flicker. I also think they missed the ball on the size of UND's defensive line. Trying to compare the positions in a 3-4 to a traditional 4-3 kind of misses the point of the scheme. Attendance at the UNI Dome was 2137 for their game last week. Looks like it should be pushing 4,000 for tomorrow's game. Hopefully the noise causes some additional issues for SDSU's true freshman QB.

Go easy on him, he's still trying to come up with justifications of where all the "fans that want to go to games and get full houses" were at since they barely filled 2/3's of their allowed 50% capacity. Or he doesn't have faith in the MooU defense to create turnovers like the UND defense. But who knows?
-
Don't look a gift horse in the mouth. They invest a lot back into the community. Thought the turf looked great but agree thay the little yellow spots were confusing. I'm assume there is a reasonable explanation for them.
-
Also need to take into account that UND was missing its most explosive offensive weapon on Saturday. Belquist did a great job stepping in, and that is before taking into account he's a true freshman out there, but if Boltmann is out there, that's just adds next another level. BB2.0 is setting up to be the new BB I guess? Agreed that the defense put them in great spots where they really didn't need to take deep shots and when they did, I feel like Maag deserved to get a call on at least one if not two of the shots they took, but the refs were letting them play.
-
Having his dad put on Kelly Green and cheer for UND is just an added bonus.
-
Completely possible depending on game flow but if the run is working, expect a large dose of Weah. I think he's going to turn a lot of heads with how he runs. But the whole backfield is something to be excited about, each of them brings their own skillset.

Couldn't agree more. Anyone who thinks the people running the arenas that have been sitting empty (thus making zero money) are clamoring for less fans and making it as inconvenient for the ones they do get must be really listening to Fauci and have 4 masks on since it is clearly restricting airflow to their brain.
