Definitely one of the good ones and gone too soon. RIP.
-
He was playing closer to Laramie than either of the SD schools and it looks like he's had some contact with both of the XDSU's. Based on this article, it also appears he's moving to Pierre to play his senior season: https://www.argusleader.com/story/sports/high-school-sports/2022/05/09/douglas-star-offensive-lineman-jason-maciejczak-join-pierre-football/9709660002/ That means he'll be blocking for big-time QB recruit Lincoln Kienholz, who holds offers from Washington, Wisconsin, Wyoming, Arkansas St, Colorado St, Illinois, Kansas State, Minnesota, Pitt, Washington State, NDSU and SDSU.

LMAO A whole lot of guessing, unfounded accusations and assumptions in that "news story". Impressive they got a lawyer who literally knows how little info on these investigations gets formally released and then literally said that people probably should have leaked or tipped others off. All while (I assume) making assumptions on who would know what. I hope he has higher standards and expectations when he's representing someone. Wow...

Talking both. Pointing out that USD doesn't yet have their football roster updated, which starts months before basketball.
-
Because they likely haven't registered for classes or finished all of their entrance paperwork? Maybe not on campus yet? Guessing there are plenty of reasons for it. USD only has their spring 2022 football roster up. Where's their fall 2022 football roster? Why one sport and not the other? The good news is, with the recently announced changes in the athletic department, there will soon be someone specific to raise your concerns to.
-
He said they expected to. That doesn't mean they were going to or required to. Almost like its a big deal and there are additional negotiations going on or something. Not to mention some turnover in key roles and some additional people at the table with those changes. But thank you so much for your concern.
-
Quoting for some posterity.
-
Only the players who are returning. Bruns and Mihai Carcoana who are transferring to USD aren't listed. NDSU and SDSU still show their 2021-22 roster, including players who have transferred. Seems like we're really reaching for things to be upset about. Let's wait until people are actually on campus and they have started practice and set the roster before we start getting all up in arms.
-
It's the 2021-2022 roster, which he was on. Why wouldn't he be listed? The new recruits aren't going to be on there before they even set foot on campus.
-
You might be giving him too much credit (both of them for that matter). I know a few guys who are in at BEK and they are good people, continuing to push what they can do and offer. However, they would have to put out a hell of an offer to match and/or exceed what Midco currently does. I really don't think they have the distribution or the fire power to even get close. Particularly since the larger focus on what UND is looking for isn't money.
-
What does that have to do with hypothetical renovations at the city-owned Alerus Center?
-
Whether the stipulations you're brining up are accurate or not, the Alerus Center does not fall under any of those guidelines. UND is a tenant who rents out the building on a handful of Saturdays each year. I'll be happy to offer a correction if I'm wrong. And that's not to say he'll play, but my guess is if he doesn't, it won't be for the reasons you mentioned but more academic related.
-
I'm not sure anything in that idea would actually fall under the direction of the athletic director. Alerus Center is a city owned property. The athletic department isn't in the bar/restaurant business. They definitely wouldn't be negotiating the naming rights deal.
-
If I'm interpreting that and a few other sites correctly, I don't think his contract is guaranteed unless he makes the roster as he was signed to a reserve/futures contract. I think only $3,500 of it is guaranteed at this point. That being said, he's sure seems to be doing all the right things to get there.
-
No one is going to invite a school that takes more from the pie than they would bring. And even then, it would need to be enough to move the needle. Math isn't that hard. And that's not happening in the MWC at this point.
-
I know he came in as an interior lineman that could play LG/C/RG, but I think the expectation was that he was going to play guard and not center like he ended up doing all season. That was where he played the majority of his snaps at Portland State. Lotysz being hurt all season adjusted those plans.
-
How many used a dining surplus to pay the bills for football though?
-
Are you saying no ndsu players are getting NIL money?
-
Have you asked the same questions of the businesses in Fargo who have paid NIL money to NDSU football players? I'd be curious, under current rules, how it is it any different than scholarships or full cost of attendance? How is it any different than dumping 10's of millions into facilities to entice players to a University? Every single one of those is money being spent to "buy" players.
-
You are correct, that is what ended up eventually happening. Wheels for the main tenant were in place prior to that though. My main point was that it could have been filled sooner, but the owner at the time was looking for the "right" tenants, which is why it sat vacant for so long, not strictly because of a lack of interest in the space.
-
Guessing it will have an even bigger impact as well. 85 is scholarships. Roster limit is 110, as of the first day of class/first game. After that I think it goes up even further or the limit disappears. I would expect this means you'll see a lot more PWO offers by the FBS schools and them being more aggressive in cutting "dead weight" in the upper class ranks. Not to mention gives the more room for transfer portal players.
-
It could have been filled much sooner. Owners wanted a strong anchor tenant and were fine holding out until they found one they were comfortable with. They didn't want to haphazardly and pre-emptively section it off until then, though I would guess it took longer than they planned. Midco was probably worth the wait.
-
Other than the location, they are a team looking for players, so not that surprising I would think. They were a bit of a mess last year with some potential rules violations with the old staff. That caused roster issues and led to a 7-23 record. https://www.dailynews.com/2022/03/17/csun-lifts-interim-tag-hires-trent-johnson-as-mens-basketball-coach/

Nice article by Tom. Plenty of expectations for newcomers and hopefully some big improvements from guys who were playing pretty hurt or didn't play at all due to injury (Sueker, Mathews, Levias). https://www.grandforksherald.com/sports/college/5-things-to-know-about-the-und-mens-basketball-offseason

Is anyone else excited for fall camp just so we can talk about football instead of whatever the last few pages have been? Offseason is the worst.
