Good to see even the injured players for NDSU are still managing to stay in the news.

I was impressed that he made those throws knowing he was going to get smacked in the mouth. I would like to see how many QB hits UM had. Hanson was picking himself off the ground more than you'd like to see, yet he hung in there to until the last second to make those throws. Takes some guts to stand in there against pressure like that.

40% chance of rain/snow mixture has me a little nervous, though a slippery field could hurt the defenses and running games. Looks to be very little wind, so that should help with our passing game.

The tailgating this year has been a step up over previous years. The addition of the Tailgating Village has been a big success. The student's tailgate lot has had a good turnout every week until this past one and I suspect that the weather had more to do with that than anything. Kudos to the Athletics Department and Marketing Department on what they did this year but don't get complacent and waste the positive momentum.

4. Already being done this year and from the looks of it, quite sucessfully. Deeks, Dickey's and the Ground Round have spots to sell food. As of right now, I don't believe anyone has license to sell alcohol in the tailgating lot other than the Champions Club tent.

For fans, driving is significantly easier in the MVFC/Summit. Destination wise, I'd give the Big Sky the nod. For players, I would assume it is a wash at worst. I can't imagine sitting in a bus for 10-12 hours is better than flying for 5-6 with a layover or two. I'm not sure the amount of busing vs. flying each school does though, so maybe it doesn't matter. If you want to talk viewing, despite being in Central/Mountain/Pacific time zone, the Big Sky is head and shoulders above anything the MVFC/Summit offer. Almost all games are offered for free over the internet on Big Sky TV. There is no comparison at all.

What part of my factual statement is elitist? I would agree there were points in time NDSU (along with a handful of other schools) would have been accepted into the Big Sky. My comment was that there were times NDSU wanted desperately to be in the Big Sky but they were turned down. In hindsight, it worked out for NDSU in the end, but at the time there was a lot of nervous people. The attitude shown by NDSU towards the Big Sky is evidence they are still slighted by the rejection. The constant proclamations of how the MVFC is head and shoulders a better conference over the CAA and Big Sky (despite no real track record showing anything remotely resembling that) is real clear evidence of that. With the leadership of that conference, I would temper my expectations (and I won't even get into the Summit....)

Needs to clean up some pretty blatant drops. Also needs to tighten up his route running. Not sure he has the size/speed needed to play in the NFL, but if he keeps working hard, he will probably have a shot to play somewhere after college.

Yet the Big Sky is the conference NDSU wanted to be in and was turned down...

While I agree the Montana punter had quite a leg on him, I think Cameron's style is by design. It doesn't allow for returns and with the way UND tackles, that might not be a bad thing. And if you look at the stat sheet, it would probably surprise you. UND - 5 punts, Yards Per Punt: 42.4, Net Yard Per Punt: 42.4 UM - 9 punts, Yards Per Punt: 43.8, Net Yards Per Punt: 39.3 Neither team returned a punt and UM had two touchbacks. It might have been ugly, but Cameron actually ended up with slightly better numbers.

Was quite a game. Montana was not going to let UND run the ball and UND obliged by going over the middle all day. Would have been better if UND didn't drop a handful of easy catches. Defense had its moments, but made a couple stops at the end when it was necessary. Would have liked to see how this team would have done if Hanson did get hurt the first game and the defense would be even average.

I wasn't there this week to see how it played out, but in the past, Mussman has been very candid in who is in and out of the lineup due to various things (injuries, illness, etc). My guess is he was letting people know who was injured and made an offhanded comment about another senior being out of the line-up due to a suspension. Maybe not the place to do it, but I've appreciated his candor when he talks at the luncheons. Or maybe not. Maybe someone who was there can fill in the whole story.

Haven't proven they can win on the road yet and free throw shooting are the two reasons that pop into my mind. The potential is there, just need some results to back it up.

Yet it is the only one that doesn't give any votes to a UNI team that has yet to win a Division 1 game, so at least it has something right over the other polls.

I've heard Montana is bringing a very large contingent of fans, or at least was planning on it before their season took the same turn ours did. I assume a good amount will still travel. Weather outlook shows another nice fall day which should get people out tailgating beforehand as well.

Of note, San Diego State handled Colorado State 38-14.

Unfortunate that you feel that way, you will be missing out on some very exciting times now that UND is officially a Division 1 school. Most people will continue to wear Sioux gear but will support all the athletic programs at UND. The University of North Dakota is the one thing that has forever remained constant. The Fighting Sioux name and logo is only a part of the long history and tradition of the University of North Dakota and its athletic department.

Dean Blais isn't coming back.

Her mind would implode if she walked around Spirt Lake. People aren't going to quit wearing Sioux gear anytime soon. But as time moves on, particularly when UND picks a new mascot, you will see a slow transition. There will always be Sioux gear around though and people shouldn't have a problem with that. It is a large part of UND's history and tradition, but people need to remember that it is only a part of it and not all of it.

You obviously didn't get the memo, when NDSU loses to UND, it is because NDSU's teams are terrible. UND's are terrible as well, they just happened to be a little less terrible that given night. Should have learned that from basketball last year.

His high school track results verify that he has the speed (10.82 100m dash, two-time 110M hurdle champ in top division), just wondering why he hasn't put it together to get a shot on the field.

Wonder if Casey Young will get a chance and use it to step up? Be nice to see some good use of that size and speed he showed in high school.

But Portland State had the lead three separate times early in the game against them and they didn't fold against San Diego State after getting down a few scores early. No doubt about it though, the defense needs someone to step up and be a leader.

Or Montana scoring 40 straight on SDSU in the playoffs a few years back...
